Birthday surprise

Birthday surprise

Feng Jinxuan's "textbook-level" straight-man confession ended with Yu Jinli, both angry and amused, crumpling up the equity transfer agreement and throwing it back at his face.

Of course, after smashing it, she carefully unfolded the crumpled document, smoothed it out, and then solemnly put it into her bag.

Just kidding, this is pure, unadulterated money!

The thin veil between them, as thin as a cicada's wing, was finally torn away completely.

After the relationship was established, Yu Jinli felt that the whole world had become different.

The sky seems bluer.

The grass seems greener now.

Even the bowl of dark Chinese medicine I drink every day doesn't seem so bitter anymore.

Needless to say, the money is obviously much more!

Feng Jinxuan, on the other hand, seemed to have unlocked his full potential, completely activating the "domineering CEO-style romance" mode.

Although, his portrayal of the "domineering CEO" is somewhat... hard to describe.

For example, he would cancel all meetings under the pretext of "market research" and spend the whole day with her at an amusement park.

As a result, the two were trapped in the haunted house by the crowd because of his overly flamboyant face. In the end, it was Assistant Wang who led more than a dozen bodyguards to "rescue" them.

For example, she casually mentioned that she "wanted to see the sea," and the next day, he booked an entire private island.

As a result, because of his damned "unlucky" constitution, a once-in-a-century torrential downpour suddenly began to fall over the island, and the two of them could only hide in the villa in a sorry state, eating instant noodles for a whole day and night.

He even went so far as to buy a nearly bankrupt entertainment company just to invest in a fantasy drama starring her favorite obscure, unknown actor.

As a result, that unknown actor was hospitalized on the day of the opening ceremony because he got food poisoning, vomiting and having diarrhea.

Assistant Wang has become completely numb to this.

His daily work, besides dealing with mountains of official business, consisted of expressionlessly cleaning up the messes left by his boss's outrageous "spending lavishly for love" behavior.

More than once, in the quiet of the night, he looked in the mirror and pondered a profound philosophical question:

Why did he have such a stupid idea in the first place to take on this damn job that was full of life-threatening dangers and mental pollution?

Time flew by in this atmosphere filled with sweetness, silliness, and all sorts of chaotic moments.

Before we knew it, it was Yu Jinli's birthday.

Yu Jinli originally thought that this day would pass by uneventfully, just like any other.

After all, she has never had the habit of celebrating her birthday since she was a child.

At most, I'd buy myself a deluxe version of longevity noodles with two eggs.

However, in the evening, she was "kidnapped" by Assistant Wang in a stretch Lincoln covered with a black cloth and taken to a place completely unfamiliar to her.

The moment she was led by the hand and stepped out of the car, the black cloth in front of her was lifted.

She was completely stunned.

It was a rooftop garden restaurant, situated in a prime location in Yuncheng, boasting unparalleled river views. The restaurant was decorated with countless champagne-colored roses and dazzling crystal chandeliers, resembling a fairytale wonderland.

The gentle sound of a violin flowed slowly through the air.

Outside the huge floor-to-ceiling windows, the city's dazzling night view stretches out like a diamond galaxy.

Her best friend Lin Feifei, her "parents" whom she had never met, and Gu Yanzhi, who had always silently protected her, all stood smiling not far away, watching her.

Happy birthday, lucky koi!

Gu Yanzhi's voice was as gentle as ever.

Lin Feifei exaggeratedly wiped away non-existent tears.

"Waaaaah, my dear sister, you've finally married into a wealthy family! Don't forget your poor family member from now on!"

Feng Jinxuan, dressed in a sharp white suit, looked like a prince straight out of a fairy tale.

He held a large bouquet of vibrant red roses in his hands and walked step by step to her.

He knelt down on one knee and took a velvet ring box out of his pocket.

Open.

Inside, lying quietly, was a dazzling, almost blindingly bright...pigeon egg.

“Yu Jinli,” the man looked up at her, his usually cold and indifferent black eyes now filled with a nervous and passionate emotion she had never seen before, “I won’t say any sweet words.”

All I know is that without you, the world is black and white.

"so……"

He paused, his voice hoarse.

"Would you be willing to be my leading lady and make my future life...colorful?"

A chorus of well-intentioned cheers and blessings erupted from all around.

Yu Jinli looked at the handsome man kneeling on one knee in front of her, a man who seemed unreal.

Looking into his eyes, I saw an undisguised, intense love that was almost overflowing.

She felt as if she had fallen into the most unreal dream woven from honey and starlight.

She covered her mouth, laughing through her tears, and nodded heavily.

...

In the lounge before the party starts.

Yu Jinli was still looking in the mirror, trying to calm her heart, which was pounding wildly with excitement.

Feng Jinxuan walked in.

"I have another gift for you," he said.

"Anything else?" Yu Jinli asked in surprise. "You've already given us enough today."

“Not enough.” The man shook his head, his eyes serious. “Those are all external things. This is the most important thing.”

As he spoke, he inexplicably thought of Yu Jinli's pink diary, which he had locked in his bedside table.

He thought that this girl always regarded that diary as her most precious "history of struggle".

She wrote all her secrets and all her dreams into it.

Perhaps, he can find the unique gift she truly desires within it?

For example, a necklace she once casually sketched in her diary?

Or perhaps, a place she once mentioned that she particularly wanted to visit?

Once the thought popped into my head, I couldn't stop it.

He wanted to give her the best in the world.

I also want to understand her a little more, and then a little more.

He made an excuse to prepare a "surprise" and left the lounge.

Back in the mansion, he went straight into his bedroom.

He walked to the bedside table, took out the key, and opened the locked drawer that he had promised he would never open without permission.

It was a pink diary with lace trim, which looked very girly and was completely out of place with the overall style of his study.

He took out his diary.

He took a deep breath and slowly turned to the first page.
