Night Infiltration of the Enemy Camp (Part 2)

Night Infiltration of the Enemy Camp (Part 2)

Using both hands and feet, and clumsily climbing up the rope, Yu Jinli finally made it into the study on the third floor.

The moment her feet touched the ground, before she could even catch her breath, Feng Jinxuan pulled her behind him and covered her mouth.

The man's crisp, pine-scented scent instantly enveloped her.

His warm palm covered her lips; his palm was dry and strong, with a thin callus.

Yu Jinli's heart skipped a beat for no reason, but was quickly suppressed by nervousness.

Feng Jinxuan gestured for her to be quiet, then pointed to the door outside the study.

Yu Jinli immediately held her breath and pricked up her ears.

All that could be heard in the hallway outside the door were light footsteps and the hum of a vacuum cleaner.

The footsteps stopped at the study door, and then the doorknob was gently turned.

Yu Jinli's heart jumped into her throat instantly.

She instinctively gripped Feng Jinxuan's sleeve.

The man quickly looked around, pulled her along, and slipped into a narrow gap between a row of huge bookshelves and the wall.

The gap space is extremely small.

The two were pressed almost chest to back, squeezed tightly together.

Yu Jinli could clearly feel the man's hard chest pressed against her back through the thin fabric of his sportswear. His steady, powerful heartbeat, one beat after another, seemed to strike her eardrums directly.

Her cheeks began to burn uncontrollably.

The study door was pushed open.

A middle-aged woman dressed as a maid walked in, pushing a vacuum cleaner.

She seemed a little puzzled by the brightly lit study, but didn't think much of it and simply began her routine cleaning.

The vacuum cleaner hummed, masking the tense breathing of the two people in the gap.

Yu Jinli didn't dare to move at all, and even breathed very softly.

She felt her back getting hotter and hotter, like a branding iron.

Fortunately, the servants did not linger there.

She quickly swept the floor, turned off the light, and left with the vacuum cleaner.

The footsteps gradually faded into the distance.

Only when the corridor was completely quiet did Feng Jinxuan release his hand from her mouth.

"It was a false alarm." He said in a low voice, with a hint of relief.

Yu Jinli also breathed a long sigh of relief.

She was about to slip out through the gap when, due to her extreme nervousness, her legs gave way and she fell backward uncontrollably.

She fell right into the arms of the man behind her.

Feng Jinxuan subconsciously reached out and steadily supported her.

The distance between the two instantly became a negative number.

"Throwing yourself into my arms?" The man's deep voice, carrying a hint of suppressed mockery, sounded above her head. "Assistant Yu, this comes at an extra cost."

Yu Jinli's face flushed bright red, almost as if it were about to bleed.

She frantically broke free from his embrace, like a cat whose tail had been stepped on.

"Boss, please have some self-respect! This is a work injury!"

In the darkness, she couldn't see the man's expression.

But she could hear him let out a very soft, pleasant chuckle.

Without further delay, the two immediately began to execute their plan.

"Assistant Wang, there are still twenty minutes left," Feng Jinxuan reminded him.

Yu Jinli nodded, putting away all her romantic thoughts, and got into work mode.

She closed her eyes and began to mobilize the faint yet pure koi-like luck within her body.

The entire study transformed in her mind into a three-dimensional image composed of countless lines of varying shades and colors, representing the flow of energy.

In most areas, air circulation is stable and normal.

Only the east wall.

Behind that wall, there seemed to be a huge energy source that constantly emitted a cold, dark aura.

The black aura that clung to Sun Man and emanated from the "evil nail" on the construction site came from the same source, yet was a hundred times more concentrated.

“Over there.” She opened her eyes and pointed to the wall without hesitation, “Behind that mahogany bookshelf.”

Without the slightest doubt, Feng Jinxuan immediately stepped forward.

It was a huge mahogany bookshelf that almost took up the entire wall, filled with all kinds of finely bound books and antique ornaments.

Following Yu Jinli's instructions, he found a mechanism disguised as a book on the third shelf.

Just a gentle press.

With a soft "click," the huge bookshelf slowly slid to one side, revealing a cold, metallic wall behind it.

In the center of the wall was a square, roughly half-meter square, hidden compartment.

Found it!

Yu Jinli was overjoyed and quickly stepped forward.

The hidden compartment had no lock, only a seemingly ordinary metal handle.

She reached out, intending to pull him away.

"etc!"

Feng Jinxuan's voice and his movements arrived simultaneously.

He grabbed her wrist and pulled her sharply backward.

Just as he pulled her away, Yu Jinli's fingers inevitably touched the metal handle.

A powerful, cold, and malevolent force instantly surged from the handle!

The feeling wasn't like being electrocuted; it was more like being severely burned by a red-hot iron!

"ah!"

She cried out in pain and abruptly pulled her hand back.

On her fair fingers, a clear, charred burn mark was visible.

"Don't touch it!" Feng Jinxuan's face instantly darkened, turning as black as the sky before a storm. "There's something up there!"

He held Yu Jinli tightly behind him, then stepped forward, his gaze sharp as a knife, fixed on the hidden compartment.

As Yu Jinli touched the surface of the hidden compartment, a thin, almost invisible, blood-red light curtain composed of countless tiny runes slowly emerged.

The light curtain, like a living, breathing net, was emanating an ominous aura that sent chills down one's spine.

It's a mystical restriction!

Moreover, it is an extremely vicious and aggressive defensive restriction.

Any creature that is not authorized will be devoured if it touches the object.

That was just a warning.

If we force it open, the consequences will be unimaginable.

The two exchanged a glance, both seeing seriousness in each other's eyes.

"Assistant Wang, there are five minutes left." Feng Jinxuan's calm voice came through the earpiece.

Time is running out.

They went through so much trouble and took so many risks to finally find the place. Are they just going to leave empty-handed here?

Looking at the burn mark on her hand, Yu Jinli felt a deep sense of resentment.

Just then, she suddenly remembered something.

She took out the amulet that Gu Yanzhi had given her, which she always wore close to her body.

The small jade talisman was emitting a faint, warm aura.

She looked at the jade talisman, then at the dark compartment radiating an evil red light, and a daring idea popped into her mind.
