Survival Rules for the President's Special Assistant

Survival Rules for the President's Special Assistant

The next day, Yu Jinli officially began her career as "President Feng's exclusive human lucky charm and special assistant to the president".

As she stepped into the dazzling skyscraper of the Feng Group just in time, she instantly felt the stares from all directions. Those gazes were complex and varied, containing thirty parts jealousy, thirty parts disdain, thirty parts knowing "I've read this episode of a domineering CEO novel," and one part envy.

Clearly, the scandalous news about a mysterious woman who staged an accident with the CEO while riding a small electric scooter and then rose to become his special assistant has spread across the company's intranet at lightning speed.

Yu Jinli didn't care at all. People can say what they want, but the money goes into her own pocket. Head held high, she walked briskly into the CEO's private elevator amidst envious and disdainful glances.

Top floor, CEO's office.

Assistant Wang was already waiting there, handing over his work to her. The handover, though called a handover, was shockingly simple.

“Ms. Yu, your main tasks are threefold.” Assistant Wang adjusted his glasses and introduced the task in a serious tone, “First, unless absolutely necessary, please do not maintain a straight-line distance of more than ten meters from President Feng.”

(Subtext: Please make sure your WiFi signal covers your boss.)

"Secondly, please make sure to conduct a 'safety check' before Mr. Feng eats, travels, or uses any electronic or mechanical equipment."

(Subtext: Please use your mystical radar to scan and see if it will explode.)

"Third, and most importantly, on the premise that Mr. Feng is in a stable mood and in good health, we should minimize unnecessary physical contact with him."

(Subtext: The boss said he wanted to control the pace of "sticking" himself.)

Yu Jinli nodded repeatedly as she listened. This job sounded like... a perfect opportunity for her to slack off!

"Understood!" She gave an OK sign. "I guarantee I'll complete the mission."

However, she was still too naive. She forgot that every domineering CEO has one or more people around him who dislike her and are dedicated to making things difficult for her.

This character appeared within her first hour of starting work.

"You're the new special assistant, Yu Jinli?"

A woman dressed in a well-tailored business suit, with impeccable makeup, exuding an aura of "I'm an elite," walked in with an air of nonchalance, carrying a stack of documents almost as tall as herself. Her name tag read: [Marketing Director - Sun Man].

Sun Man sized Yu Jinli up and down, her contempt undisguised. She was nothing more than a pretty face who'd risen to power through shady connections; she'd seen plenty of those.

"Hello, Director Sun." Yu Jinli smiled politely.

“Since you’re a special assistant, you should act like one.” Sun Man slammed the stack of documents down on her desk with a loud thud. “These are the marketing department’s promotional plans for the next quarter. President Feng needs them for the meeting this afternoon. Organize them and write a summary report. Give them to me before you leave work.”

Yu Jinli glanced at the mountain of documents, then at the clock on the wall.

Good grief, are they trying to make her work herself to death at her desk so they can inherit her 200 yuan Alipay credit?

"I'm sorry, Director Sun." Yu Jinli smiled even more sweetly, "The work that Assistant Wang handed over did not include organizing documents and writing reports."

"Oh?" Sun Man crossed her arms and sneered. "What, President Feng's special assistant can't even do this little thing? Or is it that you can only do... other 'assigned tasks'?"

The implication of those words couldn't be clearer. Several secretaries nearby, who had been eavesdropping on the gossip, chuckled knowingly.

Yu Jinli's smile remained unchanged, but in her heart she had already cursed Sun Man's ancestors for eighteen generations. Just as she was about to speak, a cold voice came from the president's office.

"Director Sun, are you very free?"

Feng Jinxuan had already arrived at the office door without anyone noticing. He didn't even look at Sun Man; his gaze merely fell indifferently on Yu Jinli before shifting away.

Sun Man's face turned pale instantly, and she quickly bowed: "President Feng, I... I just came to introduce the work to my new colleagues."

"Is that so?" Feng Jinxuan's tone was unreadable. "I thought that what my special assistant needed to do was up to me to decide."

He turned to Yu Jinli, slightly raised his chin, and commanded in a matter-of-fact tone, "Come in and make me a cup of coffee."

Yu Jinli immediately understood; the boss was trying to get her out of a tight spot. She gave Sun Man an innocent look that said, "Sorry, I have to go serve the boss now," and turned to walk into the office.

Sun Man clenched her fists, her eyes filled with venom as she watched the two figures disappear into the room one after the other.

...

At 3 PM, a meeting of senior management from the group was held.

The atmosphere in the huge conference room was serious and oppressive. Feng Jinxuan sat in the main seat, listening expressionlessly to the reports from the directors of various departments.

Yu Jinli, as his special assistant, sat next to him, idly twirling her pen while silently calculating her hourly wage.

When it was Sun Man's turn to report, she was clearly well-prepared. Her PowerPoint presentation was exquisite, with detailed data and clear logic, which drew nods of praise from many of the executives present.

Halfway through her report, she smiled and looked at Feng Jinxuan: "President Feng, to give you a more intuitive understanding of the advantages of our new product, I have prepared a demonstration video."

She pressed the remote control, and the huge projection screen in front of the conference room lit up.

Just as the video was about to play, Yu Jinli's heart skipped a beat!

An ominous premonition welled up inside her. In her astrological vision, the projector hanging from the ceiling was enveloped in a thick layer of black mist, signifying "malfunction" and "danger"!

"Wait a minute!" she exclaimed almost instinctively.

All eyes turned to her. A hint of smugness and disdain flashed in Sun Man's eyes.

Feng Jinxuan frowned and looked at her.

“Um… I think…” Yu Jinli’s brain was racing. She couldn’t very well say, “I see it’s about to explode,” could she? In a moment of inspiration, she pointed to the screen and said, “I think this background music doesn’t quite fit our company’s corporate culture. It’s a bit… depressing.”

The entire room fell silent.

Sun Man almost burst out laughing: "Assistant Yu, are you kidding? This is a famous musician we paid a fortune to hire..."

She hadn't finished speaking.

There was a sharp crackling sound of electricity, followed by a loud bang!

The projector on the ceiling exploded!

A burst of sparks and black smoke exploded, and shattered parts flew out like bullets!

Feng Jinxuan and Yu Jinli, who were closest to the scene, were the first to be affected.

Amidst the terrified screams of the crowd, Yu Jinli's body reacted faster than her brain. She practically tumbled and crawled, shoving the still-stunned Feng Jinxuan off the expensive leather chair and onto the ground.

A piece of the charred projector casing grazed Feng Jinxuan's scalp and crashed heavily into the wall behind them, leaving a shocking crater.

The entire conference room fell into a deathly silence.

Everyone stared in disbelief at the two people sprawled on the ground in a rather disheveled state.

Yu Jinli felt the man's hard chest and strong heartbeat beneath her, and only one thought crossed her mind: I'm doomed, my luck reserves have been used up by at least ten percent this time! How much money will I have to ask him for reimbursement to make up for it all!

Feng Jinxuan looked down at the girl clinging to him, her hair standing on end like a frightened little animal. He could smell a faint, refreshing scent, like lemongrass, emanating from her hair.

A slight ripple stirred within him.

But he quickly suppressed that attraction. Looking at the still-shaken crowd and the deathly pale Sun Man, his voice was icy: "Meeting adjourned. Assistant Wang, thoroughly investigate this matter. Director Sun, you, write me a detailed report."

After the storm subsided, Yu Jinli, holding the "reimbursement form" she had precisely calculated with a calculator, knocked on the door of the president's office.

"Boss," she handed over the bill, her face serious, "this rescue cost me about 10% of my luck, which is equivalent to 100,000 RMB on the market. Considering our strategic partnership, I'll give you a 20% discount, so it's 80,000 RMB. Would you like to pay through the company account, or do you want me to transfer it to you personally?"

In the office, Assistant Wang and Sun Man, who were reporting the investigation results to Feng Jinxuan, looked at her as if she were a fool.

Feng Jinxuan took the paper, glanced at it, then looked up, his face expressionless.

He wasn't angry or sarcastic. He simply picked up a pen, signed his name on the form in a flourish, and handed it to Assistant Wang: "Go to finance and get it approved."

"The boss is so generous!"

Feng Jinxuan's lips curled up slightly, then returned to normal in an instant.

"Mr. Feng, mind your image." Assistant Wang, who had witnessed everything, pushed up his glasses, suppressing the urge to retort.

"Assistant Wang, is there something you need?" Feng Jinxuan's eyes were piercing, and his aura was imposing.

"No, I just wanted to say that Assistant Yu is right."

“You don’t need to tell me that.” Feng Jinxuan glanced calmly at Sun Man, whose face was as white as paper. His voice wasn’t loud, but it carried clearly throughout the office. “Assistant Yu’s job is to ensure my safety. If you overwork her, or… if anything happens to her…”

He paused, his gaze as cold as a knife.

"You're in charge."
