The true intentions were revealed at the last minute.

The true intentions were revealed at the last minute.

Sun Man, carrying two glasses of clear yellow champagne, walked slowly across the edge of the dance floor with elegant cat-like steps.

Her smile was alluring, her eyes burning with a fiery intensity, like a beautiful yet mad moth drawn headlong into a candle flame, swaying gracefully, drawing admiring glances from the surrounding executives.

Yu Jinli had to admit that if he were a man, he would probably be captivated by her for three seconds, and then be startled by the faint, condensed, oil-like black mist swirling around the two exquisite crystal glasses on her tray in the fourth second.

The black aura was very faint, and ordinary people could not detect it at all, but in Yu Jinli's vision of fortune, it was as conspicuous as a firefly in the dark night.

“President Feng,” Sun Man’s voice carried a deliberately practiced softness, or as Yu Jinli, a 24G internet surfing expert, would say, a “pinky” tone. Her voice remained clear amidst the melodious music, “Tonight you are the star. On behalf of the marketing department, and on behalf of myself, I raise a toast to you. I wish our new project a resounding success.”

She gracefully handed one of the glasses of wine to Feng Jinxuan, her slender fingers gleaming under the crystal chandelier, as if trying to make Yu Jinli look like Ah Bing.

The other cup was generously given to the future Ah Bing.

"Assistant Yu, you've worked hard tonight too. President Feng is truly blessed to have such a thoughtful and capable wife like you. This toast is for you."

What a flawless and sophisticated performance!

The rhetoric was flawless, expressing respect for the superior while subtly flattering Yu Jinli, leaving no reason for anyone to refuse.

If one didn't know her background beforehand, anyone would think she was just a sensible, well-mannered, and highly emotionally intelligent subordinate.

Feng Jinxuan didn't move, not even lifting his eyelids. He just stared at her with icy eyes, as if looking at a transparent object that wasn't worth wasting time on.

His undisguised contempt caused Sun Man's smile to freeze slightly for a moment.

Yu Jinli was rapidly calculating a countermeasure in her mind.

Should we refuse outright? No, that would immediately alert them and make them suspicious.

Drink it? That's even worse. Who knows what kind of "potential ingredient" is added to this wine—a laxative or arsenic?

Let Feng Jinxuan drink? Are you kidding me? If her long-term meal ticket and power bank malfunctions, she'll be finished too.

In a flash, a brilliant idea struck her.

She didn't take the glass of wine. Instead, she seemed to be amazed by Sun Man's beauty and jewelry, her face showing an exaggerated, almost infatuated expression, her eyes wide open.

"Wow! Director Sun, your necklace tonight looks absolutely stunning!"

Her voice was neither too loud nor too soft, just enough for the few people around her who were listening intently to hear her.

"Is this Cartier's latest 'Heart of the Ocean'? I saw it on the cover of a fashion magazine last time, and it's said that only three were ever made worldwide! Oh my god, I actually saw the real thing!"

As she spoke, she leaned forward with shining eyes and great enthusiasm, her movements so natural that she seemed like a naive little assistant who had never seen the world and whose only interest was gossiping about luxury goods.

Sun Man was clearly taken aback by her unexpected reaction, and her smile became somewhat unnatural.

"Assistant Yu has a good eye, this is indeed..."

Before she could finish speaking, Yu Jinli, like a curious child, reached out her hand, seemingly wanting to touch the valuable necklace.

Just as the two were closing the distance, Yu Jinli "accidentally" tripped over the hem of her expensive but cumbersome fishtail skirt.

"oops!"

She gasped and fell forward uncontrollably, her posture awkward yet perfectly timed, colliding with Sun Man's arm that was holding the wine glass.

"Clang!"

Two crisp sounds of crystal shattering rang out, sounding particularly abrupt amidst the melodious music.

Two crystal glasses, along with the champagne that held a deadly secret, were spilled onto the obviously expensive Persian handmade carpet, quickly spreading into two dark, wine-scented puddles.

"Ah! I'm sorry! I'm sorry!" Yu Jinli quickly steadied herself, her face instantly filled with panic and apology as if she had "caused a huge disaster," her acting skills so superb that she could win an Oscar.

"Director Sun, I... I was so stupid, I didn't mean to! Is your dress alright? This carpet... won't it cost a lot to replace?"

While apologizing, she nervously tugged at Feng Jinxuan's sleeve, looking pitiful as if saying, "Husband, come save me!"

Sun Man looked at the two puddles of spilled wine on the ground and at the hem of her skirt that was now wet; her face instantly turned extremely ugly.

Her carefully planned first step, the step she took with all her courage, was completely ruined by a fool in the most stupid and despicable way!

She was trembling with anger, her nails digging deep into her palms, but she couldn't lash out in front of so many people, so she could only squeeze out a few words through gritted teeth: "...I'm fine."

The people around just thought it was a harmless little accident, and some even thought the new assistant Yu was kind of cute, so they all laughed and tried to smooth things over.

Only Feng Jinxuan, looking at the little fox beside him with superb acting skills and a cunning glint in her eyes, had a barely perceptible smile of approval in her eyes.

Meanwhile, Feng Jinhong, standing some distance away, completely lost his smile.

He put down his wine glass, looked at Yu Jinli thoughtfully, and his eyes turned somewhat cold.

This girl seems to be more troublesome than he imagined.

The plan failed, and Sun Man's face turned pale. She made up an excuse that she was "going to the restroom to take care of herself," and then turned around and retreated back into the crowd, looking dejected.

Yu Jinli knew that things would not end so simply.

A venomous snake driven to the brink of despair will often do something even more outrageous.

She took Feng Jinxuan's arm again, leaned close to his ear, and said triumphantly in a voice only the two of them could hear, "Boss, the crisis is over. The public relations expenses for this event are a friendly price of 50,000. Remember to have Assistant Wang reimburse me."

Feng Jinxuan glanced at her and said indifferently, "Remember to pay your taxes."

Yu Jinli: "..."

Evil capitalists!

No sooner had she finished speaking than a sudden change occurred!

Without warning, all the crystal chandeliers in the banquet hall went out instantly, as if someone had choked them!

The melodious waltz music came to an abrupt end, replaced by a piercing emergency alarm that echoed throughout the entire cruise ship, along with screams and gasps erupting from the crowd.

"What's going on? Is there a power outage?"

"The ship is rocking! Oh my god! Has it run aground?!"

The cruise ship's backup emergency power supply also seemed to have completely failed, with only a few dim emergency exit indicator lights emitting a ghostly green light in the darkness, like will-o'-the-wisps.

The massive ship began to rock violently and erratically, as if being swayed by an invisible giant hand from the deep sea.

The cups, plates, and bowls on the table crashed to the floor with a clatter, accompanied by the women's screams.

The scene instantly descended into a massive, all-consuming chaos and panic.

The moment the lights went out, Yu Jinli was pulled tightly into a firm yet warm embrace by a strong arm.

The familiar, crisp scent of cedar enveloped her completely, isolating her from all the noise and chaos around her.

"Don't be afraid." Feng Jinxuan's voice rang out above her head, steady and calm, like a stabilizing force, instantly soothing all the panic that had just surged in her heart.

His first instinct wasn't to protect himself, but to hold her tightly in his arms.

"Boss, I think I... have some night vision." Yu Jinli whispered in his arms.

In the instant darkness fell, she discovered that her eyes could vaguely see her surroundings again. Although not as clear as in the daytime, it was enough to make out the outlines and movements of everyone.

It's probably because my lucky charm constitution detected a life-threatening situation and automatically upgraded to the bonus "crisis mode".

"Keep an eye on Sun Man." Feng Jinxuan's instruction was concise and clear; he had obviously anticipated this step.

Yu Jinli nodded immediately, her gaze piercing through the chaotic crowd of people who were staggering and shoving each other, and precisely locking onto that figure.

Unlike the others who panicked and screamed or ran away, Sun Man took advantage of the chaos and quietly retreated against the flow of people to an inconspicuous corner of the banquet hall.

Just then, a dark figure dressed as a waiter, like a ghost, silently appeared beside her.

The dark figure moved with incredible speed, unlike an ordinary waiter. He shoved something gleaming with a metallic sheen into Sun Man's hand and whispered a few words rapidly into her ear.

Sun Man's face turned deathly pale under the dim green emergency light, then was replaced by a frantic determination.

She gripped what was in her hand tightly and glared venomously in Feng Jinxuan's direction.

Then, she suddenly turned around and, instead of rushing towards Feng Jinxuan, rushed towards another emergency exit leading to the top deck of the cruise ship!

All of this happened in the blink of an eye.

Apart from Yu Jinli, who possesses "night vision," and Feng Jinxuan, who has been secretly observing, almost no one noticed.

"She wants to run away?" Yu Jinli asked, puzzled.

“No.” Feng Jinxuan’s eyes turned colder than ever before. “She is going to see the person who gave her the order.”

He put his arm around Yu Jinli, his movements as agile as a cheetah darting through the night, easily dodging the panicked crowd, and followed closely behind.

"The real show has only just begun."
