Meeting tent.
General Li laughed heartily, "Hahaha, Marshal, you are truly a prophet! When Fengdu heard that Dongling intended to negotiate peace, their formation was thrown into chaos."
The Eastern Mausoleum army could crush Fengdu in a matter of a single thought, but the sudden offer to negotiate peace with Fengdu suggests that Eastern Mausoleum may have some other conspiracy.
Qin Yi remained calm, showing no sign of joy. "Fengdu can take the initiative to propose a time for peace talks?"
General Li immediately stopped smiling, frowned and said, "As the Marshal said, I did not take the initiative to propose a time for peace talks, but Fengdu... did not mention it either."
"Hmm." Qin Yi nodded. "We'll continue tomorrow. If they're still suspicious, we'll announce that we'll attack the city the day after tomorrow."
General Li seemed puzzled. "I estimate they still won't give an answer tomorrow. If that's the case, should Dongling really disregard the people and attack the city?"
Qin Yi raised his eyes and glanced at the generals in the tent, and said in a deep voice, "Indecisiveness is a major taboo in military strategy. Generals, rest assured, when the time comes, the situation will change and Fengdu will have no choice but to surrender."
General Li glanced at the generals inside the tent and quickly understood the marshal's meaning; some secret plans were indeed not easy to publicize.
Not all the generals in the shed were the marshal's confidants; the old emperor's men were among them.
"Rest assured, Marshal, I will certainly not fail in my mission."
However, the old emperor's men were not easily fooled. One general said, "This humble general does not know what the marshal means. If you have any plan, why not tell us so that everyone can contribute?"
This person was bold, but he couldn't withstand Qin Yi's pressure.
Qin Yi shot a sharp look at the general, which made the general's heart tremble.
"Military orders are absolute; those who disobey will be dealt with according to military law."
The general immediately lowered his head. "...Yes."
By the time the generals in the tent dispersed, it was already 3:45 PM.
Qin Yi stopped abruptly outside the tent, for there was no sign of life inside; no one was there.
Where are they?
Qin Yi glanced at the guard and asked in a cold voice, which frightened the guard into immediately kneeling down.
"Reporting to the Marshal, Miss Nan said she was bored and had the guards take her to Doctor Bai."
Upon hearing this, Qin Yi's expression did not soften. He had not restricted her freedom, but that did not mean she could freely seek out other men.
Over at Huofangying, Nanqianyue and Baishu were cooking beggar's chicken. All the steps were completed, and the two sat by the mound of earth, waiting for the time to start eating.
This chicken was bought by Bai Shulai in a village he passed through, because those who knew him knew that he was very picky about food during his southward migration and only ate fresh things.
He was naturally one of their acquaintances, so he bought some ingredients for her.
Bai Shu took out some wild fruits from his bundle and handed them to Nan Qianyue, saying, "These wild fruits are ripe and very sweet. Try them, Ayue."
Nan Qianyue didn't stand on ceremony. She smiled and accepted the gift with both hands, saying, "Thank you, Brother Bai. You're so thoughtful. You even prepared something to cleanse your palate."
Bai Shu never stopped smiling in front of the moon over the southward migration; his smile was like a warm breeze that made people feel very comfortable.
"As long as A-Yue is happy."
"Brother Bai, is it wrong for us to secretly eat chicken here?" Nan Qianyue asked, her eyes lighting up as she ate the wild fruit and tasted its sweetness, but she was also worried about being discovered and scolded.
Bai Shu couldn't help but chuckle at her expressive face. "No, we've already spoken to the Fire Station Camp, they understand."
Nanqianyue opened her eyes and shook her head. "I was talking about your prince. He's so stingy... I mean, he's very strict about managing military rations. If he found out we were stealing food, he would definitely punish us."
"You knew that, yet you still dared to come out and steal food."
A stern, slightly cold voice suddenly rang out behind her, startling Nan Qianyue so much that she dropped half of the wild fruit she was holding to the ground.
She quickly bent down to pick it up, and Bai Shu immediately came over to help.
Qin Yi felt even more annoyed watching the two of them picking wild fruits in perfect harmony. He strode over, grabbed Nan Qianyue's arm, and pulled her up.
"What's the point of eating something that's already fallen on the ground?" he said rudely.
However, because he was too strong, he caused all the wild fruits that Nanqianyue was holding to fall.
What are you doing!
Nanqian Yueqi tried to shake off Qin Yi's hand, but didn't quite manage to.
She continued to berate, "Didn't you claim that we shouldn't waste food? What's going on now?"
Qin Yi frowned, a dark cloud hanging over him. "I was talking about military rations, not wild fruits."
“Wild fruits are edible too. These were picked by Brother Bai with great effort. Don’t you know any manners?” Nan Qianyue was like a cat with its fur standing on end.
"Courtesy?" Qin Yi gritted his teeth, dark clouds already rising in his eyes, lightning about to appear.
"Even if you have amnesia, you are still so friendly to Bai Shu, but you wish you could fight me."
"During the Southern Migration Month, you have repeatedly challenged my bottom line. Do you think I am very merciful?"
This was the first time Qin Yi addressed Yue Zifeng as "this king" after she was rescued during the southward migration, which showed that he was truly angry.
Looking at the familiar scene, Bai Shu didn't know whether to laugh or sigh. In the end, he simply shook his head, laughed, and sighed.
Who would have thought that the wise and powerful Prince Anzheng, who could handle the political turmoil at court with ease and command the military might of the frontier with unparalleled skill, would completely lose his composure and become flustered when faced with a single month of southward migration?
"Your bottom line is really low, which shows you're stingy. A marshal, you're a cheapskate!"
Nanqianyue didn't know where she got the courage, but she neither yielded nor was afraid in front of Qin Yi.
If anyone else had seen Qin Yi's expression, they would have been terrified and would have hidden themselves away.
Just like those cooks who were shivering in their tents or behind the stove.
Staring intently at Nanqianyue's stubborn brows, Qin Yi suddenly laughed, a sinister and terrifying laugh.
He said, "Good, very good. I hope you can still be so confident later."
