"Younger siblings, you stay with Mother."
Nan Yichu's expression hardened, and she said, "Eldest sister, second sister is with mother, I'll go with you."
Nanqianyue shook his head, but before he could speak, the Prime Minister's wife spoke first.
"Let him come along." Judging from the butler's tone, the visitor clearly had ill intentions.
Nanqianyue could only nod, "Alright, Mother, you should rest well."
Inside the courtyard inside the second gate, Song Suihuan held a wooden stick in her hand, her face fierce. She also brought several thugs with her, each of them burly and strong.
The guards of the Prime Minister's residence stood at various windy spots, surrounding him.
"Call out the Southward Migration Moon! Don't be a coward like a turtle hiding in the sand. You dare to hit my mother, today I'll beat you back!"
"Why do you say that, Miss Song?"
A light, airy voice, three parts melodrama and seven parts mockery, came from behind the main hall.
Nan Qianyue walked gracefully out of the main hall, bathed in the sunlight. Nan Yichu followed on her left, the steward on her right, and several maids and servants behind her. The entourage was quite impressive.
Song Suihuan glared fiercely and hatefully at Nan Qianyue, raised the wooden stick in her hand and pointed it at her, shouting, "Stop pretending! You had my mother beaten like that, I'll skin you alive today!"
Nanqianyue covered her mouth in surprise, "Miss Song's mother was beaten? Did you report it to the authorities? My mother encountered villains the day before yesterday and reported it to the Court of Justice on the same day. I heard that your father, Grand Commandant Song, arrested those villains, but has not yet handed them over to the Court of Justice. I wonder what your father's intention is?"
"Oh, and another thing, I encountered assassins on my way to rescue my mother. I don't know if they were in cahoots with the people who kidnapped my mother. Unfortunately, they didn't live long. They were all killed by Prince Anzheng's men, leaving only one alive. That assassin is still being held in the Court of Justice. He's so stubborn. Even under severe torture, he refuses to reveal who's behind it all."
Nanqianyue rubbed her temples, feeling both tired and angry. "I don't know who is responsible for my mother's loss of appetite and melancholy. My two siblings and I are so worried. We take care of her day and night, fearing that the villain might cause trouble again."
Song Suihuan's clamor was silenced by the southward migration, and his previously blazing momentum gradually weakened.
She wondered why her father had suddenly sent her mother to another house. Could it be that her mother had done it?
Nan Qianyue glanced at her, it seemed that Song Suihuan was unaware of the foolish thing her mother had done.
Nanqianyue asked again, puzzled, "How could Madam Song have been beaten? And why did Miss Song rush to the Prime Minister's residence to question me?"
“Elder sister, who knows, the villains who kidnapped Mother might have been arranged by Madam Song. They’re just making false accusations first!” Nan Yichu was very perceptive and knew how to cooperate with her elder sister.
"You, you, you're talking nonsense!" Song Suihuan roared angrily. "The Prime Minister's wife's matter has nothing to do with my mother. On the contrary, it was you who beat my mother so badly. I'm going to the government to sue you!"
"Go ahead! You're the ones who caused this harm. The Court of Justice is already investigating. Sooner or later, they'll find out who's behind this. Then we'll see how arrogant you can be!" Nan Yichu said, half intimidating and half threatening.
Song Suihuan's facial muscles twitched with anger, and she was also afraid. Her father must know whether her mother did it. She had to go back and ask her father before dealing with the matter of moving south.
"Hmph, you just wait!"
Song Suihuan turned and left.
After the chaotic crowd left, Nan Yichu looked at Nan Qianyue with concern, "Elder sister, what if it was last night..."
"What do you mean, last night?" Nan Qianyue looked at Nan Yichu strangely. "Didn't we stay with Mother until very late before going back to rest? Is there a problem?"
Nan Yichu was taken aback. She noticed the guards and servants around her out of the corner of her eye and then realized, "Yes, I was thinking that if we had stayed with Mother all night, she might have been happier when she woke up."
"Sigh, then let's spend more time with Mother tonight."
"Yes! That's exactly what I think!"
As the group of people who had just moved south turned to head towards Luhua Courtyard, they were stopped by a servant's voice before they had taken two steps.
"Young lady! The Empress Dowager has issued an imperial decree summoning you to the palace!"
The moon, rising from the south, sneered, fearing that the Lou family had caused trouble for the Empress Dowager.
No problem, we'll deal with whatever comes our way.
"Big sister, I'll go with you!" Nan Yichu's expression was firm, revealing a resolute determination.
Nanqianyue shook her head, "You stay at home with your mother."
However, the servant said, "Eldest Miss, the Empress Dowager's people said that the Second Miss and the Young Master should go together."
Southward Migration Month: ...Damn it.
It's fine, reasonable, and not surprising.
Inside the carriage, Nanqianyue looked at her younger siblings and reminded them again.
"Did you all remember? Last night we stayed with Mother until very late before returning to the courtyard to rest. The maids and servants were watching over us."
"Don't worry, elder sister, we've remembered everything."
Nanqianyue nodded expressionlessly, a hint of gloom in her eyes.
So many things happened after she returned to the Prime Minister's residence, but each time the matter was left unresolved.
This time, it was merely an act of retaliation, yet it alarmed the Empress Dowager. How laughable and hateful.
Wan Yi Palace.
The three people who had migrated south were led to the main hall by a eunuch.
As soon as they stepped into the hall, they heard Lou Shi's mournful voice.
"Your Majesty, you must do me justice!"
Empress Dowager Wei's brows clearly showed impatience, but Lady Lou acted as if she couldn't see it, continuing to wail and complain.
"This humble woman pays respects to Your Majesty the Empress Dowager!" Nan Qianyue raised her voice as she bowed, directly drowning out Lou Shi's wails.
A glint flashed in Empress Dowager Wei's eyes, and a smile appeared on her lips. "No need for formalities."
"Thank you, Your Majesty the Empress Dowager."
The three of them, who had just moved south, stood obediently in the hall. When they saw Lady Lou's face, they were shocked. "Oh dear, how did this lady get so badly injured?"
