Simply giving answers is like being led by the nose; you need to ask appropriate questions and counterattacks, redirecting your attacks in a different direction.
Sure enough, Lou's eyes darted around, and his expression was clearly different.
What other reason could she have been sent to the other residence? Wasn't it because she injured that wretched woman?
"What...what does it have to do with you why I'm in the villa? Anyway, it was the three of you who kidnapped me and beat me up like this! You have to give me an explanation!" Lou suppressed her strange emotions and said righteously.
But Empress Dowager Wei was not someone who could be fooled. She was a champion of palace intrigue, after all, so how could she not see that Lady Lou was deliberately hiding something?
"If I were to ask you why you were in the other courtyard, would you answer or not?" The Empress Dowager Wei's imposing presence instantly enveloped the entire palace, and her cold gaze sent chills down everyone's spine.
Lou trembled, her voice losing most of its strength, "Replying to Your Majesty the Empress Dowager, I have been feeling down lately... so I went to stay at the other residence for a while."
"Who would go to the villa to recuperate?" Nan Yichu asked casually, puzzled.
Lou gritted her teeth secretly, wishing she could kill the three children born of that bastard with a few blows.
Empress Dowager Wei's expression revealed displeasure. "Think it through before you speak. As for the reason, we can find out by sending someone to the Grand Commandant's office to investigate."
Upon hearing this, Lady Lou panicked, but refused to tell the truth. Instead, she "accused" the Empress Dowager, saying, "Your Majesty, aren't you deliberately favoring Nan Qianyue? You can't keep harping on me and turn a blind eye to the fact that Nan Qianyue and the other two beat me!"
"Insolence!" Empress Dowager Wei rebuked, "Are you questioning me?"
"Your Majesty, I dare not!" Lady Lou kowtowed. "Your Majesty, I have no intention of disrespect. I am simply indignant and want to seek justice."
Nanqianyue chimed in at the opportune moment, "You said it was my two siblings and I who beat you, do you have any evidence?"
Lou glared at her angrily, "I heard your voices, and that's the proof!"
Nan Qianyue chuckled, "Oh? The voices might be similar, how are you so sure it's us?"
Lou growled, "Don't you know what you were saying back then?"
Nanqianyue shrugged innocently, "How could we possibly know what you were being insulted about?"
Lou was furious. "You've belittled me to nothing while praising your own mother to the skies. You're clearly standing up for her! You—!"
She suddenly stopped speaking, as if realizing she had said something wrong. In a panic, she lowered her head to hide the unnatural expression on her face.
Nanqianyue suddenly realized, "I know, you did something wrong to get beaten up. Madam Song caused this trouble herself, how can you blame it on us?"
Lou didn't dare to look up and hurriedly replied, "I...I don't know what you're talking about."
"I know!" Empress Dowager Wei slammed her hand on the table, stood up with the help of the old nanny, pointed her cane at Lady Lou, her eyes filled with anger, "Lao, so many years have passed, how can you still be so obsessed!"
"Yingshu has never competed with you for anything, so why are you trying to harm her!"
Lady Lou looked up in a panic, meeting Empress Dowager Wei's furious gaze. Tears immediately streamed down her face. "Your Majesty! Why do you always favor her? What is it about me that I lack? Why are you all so cruel to me!"
"You!" Empress Dowager Wei was so angry that she almost fainted, but fortunately she was supported by the old nanny.
"Your Majesty, please take care of yourself." The old nanny was extremely worried.
The Empress Dowager was nearly eighty years old; how could she withstand such torment?
Nan Qianyue couldn't help but step forward and support Empress Dowager Wei on the other side. She said, "Your Majesty, this matter has been handed over to the Court of Justice for investigation. I know you are worried about your mother, but you should also take care of your health. Don't worry, Mother can eat now. We will go back now and not disturb your rest."
Empress Dowager Wei patted Nanqianyue's hand affectionately, "I knew you were a good child."
Nan Qianyue smiled sweetly, "Then this subject will take my leave with my younger siblings."
"Yes, go ahead." Empress Dowager Wei smiled with a mixture of relief and heartache.
As Nan Qianyue retreated, she secretly gave Lou Shi, who was slumped on the ground, a mocking and threatening look as she turned and passed by.
As we left Wanyi Palace, a palace maid approached us from the other end of the long palace path.
She stopped in front of Nan Qianyue and the others, and said calmly, "Her Majesty the Empress summons Miss Nan to Fengyi Palace."
Nan Qianyue smiled, but before she could speak, the eunuch accompanying her, sent by the Empress Dowager, immediately spoke up.
"Her Majesty the Empress Dowager said that the Prime Minister's wife was frightened and specifically instructed us to escort Miss Nan and the other two out of the palace safely so that they could return to be with the Prime Minister's wife as soon as possible. If Her Majesty the Empress wishes to summon Miss Nan, please do so on another day."
A cold glint flashed across the palace maid's face before she silently stepped aside.
As the moon moved south, she maintained a smile, but a cold glint flickered in her eyes.
Just as the eunuch said, he escorted the three people who were moving south safely out of the palace gate before leaving.
Once free from outside surveillance, Nan Yichu couldn't help but mutter, "Eldest sister, are we just going to let this go like this? The Empress Dowager already knows..."
"Shh." Nan Qianyue gestured for her to be quiet. "We'll talk in the carriage."
Nan Yichu's eyes darted around, "Oh, oh, oh."
The Prime Minister's carriage was just a few meters away. Nan Qianyue walked ahead and her gaze inadvertently met the coachman's anxious expression, causing her to frown slightly.
She approached the carriage and stood in front of it, looking at the driver whose gaze was darting away. Suddenly, a smile appeared on her face. "Qin Yi is inside, isn't he?"
The driver's eyes widened. Did the young lady have X-ray vision?
The driver dared not utter a sound, but simply nodded silently.
