Chapter 16 Villagers Infected with the Plague

Outside the pharmacy.

Nanqianyue sat by the stove, fanning the fire with an extremely indifferent expression, looking just like a tool.

The passing emergency doctors and pharmacy children dared not approach and speak to him.

Bai Shu saw this scene when he returned from the clinic area. He smiled, shook his head, walked over, pulled over a small wooden stool, sat down next to Nan Qianyue, and casually added a few pieces of firewood to the stove.

"Ah Yue, did you have a fight with the prince?"

Nanqianyue's eyes darkened slightly. "Don't mention that barbarian."

"puff……"

Bai Shu couldn't help but laugh out loud; those three bold words were simply too old.

"It seems the prince is bullying A-Yue again."

Nan Qianyue really didn't want to talk about anything related to Qin Yi. She fanned herself vigorously with her fan and said, "Brother Bai, if you have nothing else to do, go help the army doctor. I can manage on my own here."

Bai Shu wisely shut his mouth, otherwise he really would have been kicked out.

"Dr. Nan! Several villagers infected with the plague have arrived outside the West District. General Huang brought them in without reporting it!"

No sooner had the military doctor finished speaking than General Huang's rough voice followed.

"I will report this to the higher authorities. The villagers are in dire need of help. Since our army has a way to treat the plague, how can we ignore the villagers of Dongling?"

"Quickly, bring him over!"

Several soldiers carried the villagers directly into the pharmacy area on stretchers. Among them was a young woman dressed in a crimson-brown cloth dress. Her lips were pale, and she was coughing incessantly. She was following one of the stretchers with anxious eyes.

The elderly man on the stretcher must have been her relative.

Bai Shu stood in front of Nan Qianyue, turning his head slightly to the side. "A Yue, don't come any closer. Let me check on the villagers first."

He nodded in agreement and didn't say anything more.

"General Huang, how could you bring someone here?" the military doctor said, both angry and anxious.

If the doctors contract the plague, and there's no one to prepare and deliver the medicine, and no one to adjust the prescription according to the patient's condition, then everyone will perish here.

General Huang's reasoning was sound: "The centralized treatment area is already full. Besides, the soldiers' conditions have improved. How can we send people with such serious conditions in?"

"Alright, the people have been delivered. I have already sent men to set up tents for the villagers next to the pharmacy. You can treat them first, and then have the soldiers carry them over."

General Huang abandoned the villagers, said a few words, and then turned and left.

"Please, army doctor, save my grandfather!"

The young woman from the village knelt down before the army doctor and kowtowed repeatedly.

Other villagers lying on stretchers who were still able to move or speak began to cry for help.

The military doctor suddenly felt a throbbing headache and hurriedly tightened his gag. "Don't panic, everyone. I'll have the medicine boy give you all a bowl of detoxifying soup first, and then I'll examine you one by one."

"Thank you, military doctor! Thank you, military doctor!"

Bai Shu looked at the military doctor and said, "I'll help you with the consultations, and A-Yue will help them prepare the medicine."

The military doctor had no objections. Although he hadn't spent much time with Dr. Nan, he was certain that she was someone the marshal valued highly. If something went wrong here, he couldn't afford to pay for it.

Because the medicine was being simmered, Nanqian Yue and the medicine boy quickly divided the detoxifying soup into bowls.

The sensible young apprentice placed several bowls of medicine on a tray and brought them to the villagers, ensuring that the villagers were not tired at all during their migration south.

"Miss Nan!"

A group of black-armored soldiers, their mouths and noses covered, entered the pharmacy area in perfect formation.

The young man leading the group was none other than Wang Agou, who had delivered clothes to the people migrating south yesterday.

He breathed a sigh of relief when he saw that Nanqian Yue was intact and calm. He had been worried that the villagers might offend her after receiving the order.

"Miss Nan, are you alright?"

Wang Agou maintained a suitable distance from Nanqianyue, his smile still silly and goofy.

Nanqianyue, however, found it uninteresting. She responded with a nonchalant, "Hmm, very good."

"Why did you bring so many people to the South District? Aren't you afraid of getting infected?" she asked, her voice calm and unhurried.

Wang Agou scratched his head and laughed, "The Marshal was worried that you would get tired, so he specially ordered us to come and assist Miss Nan."

A dark glint flashed quickly in Nanqianyue's eyes. What assistance? It was probably surveillance.

Presumably, Qin Yi has already heard about General Huang's unauthorized bringing of villagers into the southern district. He has not made any formal statement, but has sent these people over.

The real intention must be something else entirely.

"I'm not busy. The army doctor and Brother Bai are the ones who are busy. You should go and help them."

After migrating south, he sat back down in front of the stove, fanning himself to monitor the fire.

It's early spring here, and it's still a bit chilly, but it's very warm sitting by the stove.

Wang Agou nodded in agreement and immediately ordered the black-armored soldiers to surround the villagers.

The villagers were so frightened they almost jumped off the stretcher.

The military doctor and Bai Shu exchanged bewildered glances, as they too had been surrounded.

Nanqianyue glanced at her sideways and frowned. "What are you doing?"

Wang Agou smiled honestly, "Of course I will follow Miss Nan's orders and assist the military doctor and Physician Bai."

He immediately turned to Bai Shu and the other man and said politely, "Doctor Bai and the military doctor, please let us know if you need any help. Don't hesitate to ask!"

The medic wiped the cold sweat from his forehead and nodded, "Ah, okay, okay."

The Southern Migration Moon couldn't stand this behavior, so it simply withdrew its attention and continued fanning the flames.

It's true that like master, like servant.

"You, come here."

Suddenly, Wang Agou's voice became stern.

Nanqianyue couldn't help but look again, and saw that the young woman had been called to Wang Agou's side.

Then something unexpected, even infuriating, happened.
