Chapter 168 You finally agreed to marry me

Qin Yi, who had just approached the door, heard the commotion inside and rushed in quickly.

"Moon!"

He carried her back to bed and was about to get her some clothes when she grabbed his hand.

"Don't go." Her voice was pleading, and her eyes were filled with tears of lingering fear.

Qin Yi's heart softened, and he sat on the edge of the bed and hugged her. "Don't be afraid, it's always been me."

He knew what she was afraid of.

He felt both heartache and uncontrollable joy.

Nanqianyue raised her moist eyes, "I can't see clearly... I can only see clearly when I'm close."

Qin Yi gently patted the top of her head. "It's only temporary. You'll be fine after taking the medicine for a few days."

Nan Qianyue buried her face in his chest, hugging his waist with both hands, clinging to him as if she had just recovered from a serious illness. "The medicine is too bitter, I don't want to drink it."

Qin Yi's usually cold and resolute features seemed to be coated with a layer of soft gauze, his dark pupils like black amber soaking in warm water, shimmering with tenderness. "Drink it and you'll get candy."

Nanqianyue rubbed her face against her cheek. "...I don't like sweets."

Qin Yi stroked her back and thought for a moment, then said, "Then let's have desserts or snacks."

"...Hmm, acceptable." Her voice trailed off, as if she were about to fall asleep again.

Qin Yi cupped her face in his hands. "Yue'er? Don't sleep yet. Take your medicine and have breakfast before you sleep."

Despite her tired eyes, she could only manage a soft "Mmm."

Because she clung to Qin Yi and wouldn't let go, Qin Yi had no choice but to summon a maid to serve her.

But Qin Yi did all the work; the maids were only responsible for handing things over.

The maids smiled broadly as they listened to the prince's helpless attempts to coax Miss Nan into drinking her medicine.

Seeing the prince carefully serving Miss Nan her food, everyone looked on with envy.

"Where is this?" Nan Qianyue asked, gazing at the serene garden scenery outside.

Qin Yi carefully wiped her mouth, "Bai Shu's residence in the capital."

"Rinse your mouth." He handed the tea to Nan Qianyue's lips.

Nanqianyue cast an admiring glance at him and joked, "You have great potential to be a servant."

The maids all lowered their heads upon hearing this; Miss Nan really dared to speak her mind.

Nan Qianyue thought Qin Yi would retort, but to her surprise, he looked at her very seriously and said, "That's true, I'll be your servant."

Her pupils flickered slightly, and she slowly lowered her eyelids to take a sip of tea to rinse her mouth.

Qin Yi's deep gaze swept over her bright red earlobe, and the corners of his lips slowly curved into a smile.

"Go down, all of you, and close the door," he calmly ordered.

The maids seemed to understand something, and one by one they withdrew with suppressed smiles.

Nanqianyue felt a sudden unease. She released her grip on Qin Yi's sleeve and asked, feigning composure, "Why are you closing the door in broad daylight?"

Her gaze fell on the tightly closed door, and she didn't dare to look at Qin Yi.

Qin Yi wrapped his long arm around her waist, leaned close to her ear and whispered, "Do you remember what you did to me last night?"

The breath on her ear was too hot, and Nan Qianyue couldn't help but push him away. "I... what can I do to you... don't talk nonsense."

Qin Yi stared at her with a resentful look, "Do you need me to help you remember? Last night you pinned me down on the bed..."

"Stop talking!" Nan Qianyue quickly covered his mouth, feeling embarrassed and flustered all over. She drooped her eyes as if in resignation, "I admit it, okay?"

Qin Yi's eyes sparkled with hope, "Then will you marry me?"

This problem stumped the people who migrated south.

She looked away, directly ignoring the question, "The old emperor won't allow you to marry—"

“This is not a problem.” Qin Yi’s expression was slightly anxious. He grasped Nan Qianyue’s shoulders and straightened her up, his eyes showing determination.

"What I've been waiting for is your feelings, Yue'er. You like me, otherwise you would never have chosen me last night. Believe me, I will do everything in my power to protect you, including your family. Give me a chance, okay?"

His pupils shone with a firm light like the stars, and his intense love was as dazzling as the nebula surrounding the stars.

The pleading and hope within are like the faint afterglow of a shooting star streaking across the sky—weak yet enough to reveal the deep longing in his heart.

For no apparent reason, Nanqianyue's heart skipped a beat.

Many people confessed their feelings to her, but only Qin Yi could touch her heart.

“But… my dad says that a man’s words are deceitful.” She lowered her head and replied casually.

Qin Yi smiled and said, "Your adoptive father said that because he was afraid you would be deceived. I understand. If we have a daughter in the future, I will also teach her not to easily believe what men say."

Nan Qianyue frowned. "What adoptive father? He's my own father—!"

She suddenly stopped speaking, staring at Qin Yi in astonishment, "You...do you know something?"

Qin Yi smiled meaningfully, "You told me everything last night: your background, your family, what you do."

"You come from the future, from another time and space."

Nanqianyue was so shocked she couldn't speak. It took her a long time to calm down before she asked, "You believe it?"

Qin Yi smiled warmly, "I believe you."

“But my intuition tells me that you are the South Minister’s lost daughter.”

Nan Qianyue pouted, "So you still don't believe me? How could I possibly be the daughter of the Prime Minister? My mother died when she gave birth to me. My father looks like the Prime Minister, and I look like the Prime Minister's wife. These are all coincidences."

Qin Yi smiled and didn't argue with her. "Well, it's probably all a coincidence."

"Then, Yue'er, would you marry me?" He brought the topic back.

Nanqianyue gazed into his eyes and said, "Marrying me is risky. What if I suddenly go back one day? You'll become a widow."
