That night, several tents were set up on the wasteland, and a campfire burned brightly.
Inside the dimly lit tent, Qin Yi used a basin of hot water to gently wipe the blood off Nan Qianyue's body.
She had multiple slash wounds on her body. When Qin Yi treated her wounds, it felt as if his breath was being choked by an invisible hand, and he felt an extreme tightness and pain in his chest.
A voice in red rang out from outside, "Your Highness, Miss Nan's clothes are dry."
Qin Yi was about to get up to take it when Nan Qianyue tightly gripped his sleeve.
Nanqianyue was in a deep sleep, but her subconscious told her that she had to hold on tight and never let go.
Qin Yi felt a pang of pain in his heart and sat back down.
"Bring it in."
Those were the clothes he took from the village.
He just didn't want her clothes to be left out, but he never expected them to actually come in handy.
The woman in red put down her clothes. "Your Highness, would you like some more hot water?"
Qin Yi held Nan Qianyue's hand and gently shook his head, "No need."
"Yes." The woman in red carried the basin out.
The sound of horses' hooves and hurried footsteps approached again.
"Your Highness, the bandits have all been wiped out." The man in green, covered in blood, knelt outside the tent.
A cold glint flashed in Qin Yi's eyes. "Leave that old woman here. Kill the rest of you."
"Yes!" The man in green left, his eyes filled with murderous intent.
The woman in red, tending the fire, curled her lip. She was clearly a killer, but now she was a fire-tending general.
In the dead of night, Nan Qianyue awoke from a nightmare, her tear-filled eyes filled with fear as she searched the tent, "Qin Yi..."
No one responded to her, which made her even more panicked.
Was that a dream? Did Qin Yi not come?
Panic overwhelmed her remaining rationality. She scrambled up from the makeshift straw bed and ran outside crying, like a lost child who couldn't find her way home.
"Miss Nan! Why did you come out?" The woman in red, who had been dozing by the fire, was startled awake. She quickly walked towards Nan Qianyue, wanting to help her inside.
Tears blurred Nan Qianyue's vision; she seemed unable to see the red-clad woman, and cried out to the air, "Qin Yi..."
"The prince will be back soon, please don't cry." The woman in red was at a loss, wondering whether to wipe her tears or coax her inside. Someone, please save her.
"Moon!" Hearing the crying, Qin Yi hurriedly ran out of the woods.
Nan Qianyue's vision instantly focused, and she half-ran and half-stumbled towards Qin Yi, bursting into his arms and crying even louder.
"I can't find you, sob..."
Qin Yi felt a sharp pain in his heart, but he didn't dare to hug her too tightly for fear of reopening her wounds.
All I could do was gently coax you, "Don't be afraid, I won't leave, I'll stay with you forever."
Nanqianyue cried and climbed onto him, "Hug me..."
Qin Yi's heart softened, and he held her in his arms like a child.
He gently patted her back as he walked toward the tent, coaxing her softly, "Sweetie, the bad guys have been chased away."
The woman in red quietly rolled up her sleeve and saw a huge amount of goosebumps.
.
The group traveled as fast as they could while tracking, and returned as slowly as they could.
It wasn't until they reached Shicang County and bought a horse-drawn carriage to travel on the official road that they were able to speed up a bit.
Along the way, except when it was convenient for her to be accompanied by Hongyi, Nanqianyue clung to Qin Yi the whole time.
The two women, dressed in red and green, secretly summarized what Yue had said during their southward migration:
"I don't want to eat."
"where have you been."
"I want to drink water."
That's all.
After traveling for three days, they finally arrived in the capital city on the night of the fourth day.
The Nan family had been waiting at the city gate for a long time. When they saw Qin Yi carrying Nan Qianyue off the carriage, they rushed over quickly.
"Move the moon!"
"Big sister!"
However, Nanqianyue shrank into Qin Yi's arms, as if she was full of resistance to everyone else.
The Prime Minister's wife placed her hand on her back, her eyes slightly red, and softly called, "Qianyue?"
Nan Qianyue trembled and shrank even closer into Qin Yi's arms.
Qin Yi frowned slightly, took a step back, and said with a stern look in his eyes, "She's been frightened. Hand her over to me, and I will take good care of her."
The Prime Minister refused outright, saying, "Thank you, Your Highness, for saving Qianyue, but you are not yet married, so it is inappropriate for you to live together."
He stepped forward and reached out to snatch the Southward Migration Moon away.
The Prime Minister's wife quickly pressed his hand down and shook her head, saying, "Give it to him. Don't frighten our daughter any further."
Nan Xiang's eyes also reddened. He turned his face away and took three seconds to compose himself before beckoning to Nan Kezhi and Nan Yichu, "You two come with me to the Prince's Mansion."
The Prime Minister's wife stepped forward, "I'll follow too."
Nan Xiang hesitated for a moment, then said, "Then we'll all go. Please trouble Your Highness to arrange accommodations for us."
Qin Yi did not refuse. He gave Qingyi a look and then carried Nan Qianyue back to the carriage.
Anzheng Prince's Mansion, where Jinglan lives.
Qin Yi coaxed Nan Qianyue for a long time before she agreed to let the old woman serve her washing up.
If it weren't for the Nan family watching over him, he wouldn't have needed to do this; he could have washed her himself.
When he came out, he saw the Nan family standing in the wind, looking at each other in bewilderment.
Qin Yi paused for a moment, then got straight to the point, "Master Hu has calculated several auspicious days, the closest being half a month from now."
"A tip from the palace says that the old emperor's health has been poor recently, and the morning court session has been changed to once every three days."
"I fear that his unfortunate death would delay my marriage to Yue'er, so I am thinking of holding the wedding in half a month. I wonder if Prime Minister Nan and his wife have any objections?"
Qin Yi's words were utterly treasonous.
The two younger children, Nan Kezhi and Nan Yichu, were so frightened that they hid behind Prime Minister Nan and his wife.
The Prime Minister's expression was not good. He was silent for a while before saying, "Wouldn't half a month be too tight? Moving the bride to her new home in a month is a major event for the Prime Minister's residence. Just the preparation of the dowry alone..."
