The Fourth Prince and the others followed his gaze, wondering why Princess Anzheng hadn't come to see them off.
Prince Anzheng's journey is extremely dangerous.
The Nan family was also there. Nan Yichu couldn't keep it to herself and scratched the back of her head, asking, "Why didn't my eldest sister come?"
The Prime Minister's wife frowned slightly, also feeling that the move to the south was inappropriate.
The Fifth Princess, being straightforward, asked with a sob in her voice, "Uncle, are you waiting for Aunt? Why didn't she come to see you off?"
Qin Yi glanced at her indifferently, "Your royal aunt has been working hard lately and has caught a cold. How could I bear to let her come out in the wind?"
He came up with a perfect reason.
The Fifth Princess nodded repeatedly, "Oh, yes, you should indeed rest well. Don't worry, Uncle, I'll go visit Aunt later. I'll visit Aunt often while you're away from the capital."
Qin Yi smiled perfunctorily, then turned and walked towards his warhorse without lingering.
The fourth prince led the officials in a farewell ceremony, clasping their hands in respect. They watched Prince Anzheng and his entourage depart, continuing to gaze into the distance even after they disappeared from sight.
Suddenly, the sound of horses' hooves came from behind them.
Everyone turned around and saw Princess Anzheng riding a chestnut horse galloping towards them and then speeding past them, kicking up a cloud of dust.
"Royal Aunt?" The Fifth Princess was stunned for a moment, then said with emotion, "Royal Aunt came to see Royal Uncle off even though she was sick. Is this love?"
Ten miles outside the city, Qin Yi and his group were preparing to speed up their journey when they suddenly heard the monotonous and rapid sound of horses' hooves behind them.
His fingers tightened around the reins, and he turned the horse around almost instantly.
When he saw that honey-colored figure on horseback, the soft spot in his heart was magnified infinitely in an instant.
"Qin Yi!"
She raised her arms and waved, the golden sunlight shining on her dazzling smile, as if condensing into layers of warm halo, heartwarming and healing.
The two dismounted at the same time, one striding forward while the other lifted her skirt and ran.
The moment we embraced, the emptiness in my heart was gradually filled.
Qin Yi's tender gaze swept over Nan Qianyue's forehead, curled eyelashes, and delicate nose. "Why didn't you sleep a little longer?"
Nanqianyue puffed out her cheeks and couldn't help but complain, "Liar, you promised to wake me up."
Qin Yi poked her puffed-up cheeks. "It won't happen again next time."
Nan Qianyue smiled and was quickly appeased. She took out a purse from her sleeve and handed it to Qin Yi with a hint of unease.
"Here, although I embroidered this while I was learning, it's still something I embroidered myself. It's filled with my favorite spices, so take it."
Qin Yi smiled, took the purse, and smelled it. "It's your scent."
He gazed at the two... "unremarkable" ducks on his purse and remarked with high emotional intelligence, "These two mandarin ducks look quite lively."
Nan Qianyue looked at him strangely, "Are you serious? Those are ducks, two clown ducks."
How could she possibly embroider mandarin ducks?
Qin Yi: "..."
The woman in green, who was eavesdropping behind them, turned her back with a forced smile.
"Oh, the ducks, Yue'er's embroidery is so lifelike, I thought they were mandarin ducks." Qin Yi smoothly covered up the mistake.
Nanqianyue was too lazy to expose him, and waved her hand, saying, "Go, I'll watch you leave."
Qin Yi's gaze lingered on her as he leaned closer, his eyes gesturing, "Hmm?"
Nan Qianyue's beautiful eyes widened slightly as she cupped his face and kissed him, saying, "Come back safely."
Qin Yi composed himself and said, "Okay."
He suppressed his reluctance and only stepped back when he caught a glimpse of the red-clad figure approaching out of the corner of his eye.
To leave with peace of mind, he dared not look at the moon as it moved south any longer. He tucked the purse into his chest, turned, and strode away.
He didn't look back, but raised the reins and rode away.
As the moon shone southward, she suddenly touched her chest, her eyes welling up with tears. So this is what parting feels like.
It's not good at all, I hate it.
...
When Qin Yi returned to the city gate after his southward migration, all those who had come to see him off were still there.
Several figures ran towards her at the same time, among whom the Fifth Princess and Nan Yichu's voices were the loudest.
"Royal Aunt!"
"Big sister!"
Originally, Nanqianyue intended to leave directly, but now it seems that's not possible.
The Fifth Princess tugged at Nan Qianyue's skirt, "Aunt, I'll go to the Prince's mansion with you to keep you company, take me with you!"
As she spoke, she began to climb onto the horse's back.
On the other side, Nan Yichu grabbed the saddle behind Nan Qianyue and said, "My second sister and I are also going to the palace. My eldest sister will definitely take my second sister with her. The fifth princess should ride in the carriage by herself."
The Fifth Princess's eyes widened. "Don't you understand the order of arrival? I was here first, so my aunt must have brought me along!"
Nan Yichu retorted, "She's our eldest sister, so naturally she'd bring her younger sister along!"
The Fifth Princess glared at him with her nostrils down her spine, "My royal aunt has already married my royal uncle, so my royal aunt and we are family now. She will definitely take me with her!"
The fourth prince touched his nose and pulled the fifth princess over, saying, "Little sister, don't cause trouble for your aunt. You have your own carriage."
The Fifth Princess pointed at Nan Yichu, "He also has a carriage, why should I give way to him!"
Nanqianyue pressed her temples and waved to her younger siblings, saying, "You can take the carriage too, I'm leaving now."
With that, she turned and rode away.
The Fifth Princess hurriedly jumped into the carriage, "Quick! To the Prince's Mansion!"
Nan Yichu also urged Nan Kezhi to get into the carriage quickly, but after the Prime Minister's wife gave him a cold look, he immediately became obedient.
"What kind of behavior is this? Aren't you supposed to be going to the academy? Why are you bothering your elder sister?" the Prime Minister's wife reprimanded sternly.
Nan Yichu lowered her head. "Oh, I understand."
