"Boss, is my horse fed yet?" Nan Qianyue asked, suppressing her panic.
The owner glanced behind him, then turned around and said with a smile, "We're eating right now!"
"No need to eat anymore." Nan Qianyue put down her chopsticks, got up and walked towards the back of the post station.
"Halt!" Several martial arts heroes, weapons in hand, approached Nan Qianyue.
As soon as it was about to migrate south, it took off running and rushed to the horse trough.
Just as her hand was about to touch the reins, a large knife came slashing at her hand.
Nanqianyue quickly withdrew her hand, her heart pounding in her chest, her soul feeling as if her hand was gone.
She turned to run, but several martial arts heroes had already surrounded her.
One of them, with a pointed chin, sneered, "I originally wanted you to die unconscious, but you were too tactless and insisted on walking right into my clutches."
"Why waste words with her! Cut off her legs first, so she can't run away!"
"Wait!" Nan Qianyue stopped the knife that was about to strike, her gaze turning cold as she asked, "At least let me die knowing why. Who sent you?"
The woman with the pointed chin sneered, "A vixen like you dares to know my master's name?"
vixen...
Nanqianyue gritted her teeth secretly; she knew who it was… Empress Wan.
"Empress Wan is truly audacious, daring to openly defy your Emperor. If you kill me today, His Majesty will certainly not let you off." Nan Qianyue attempted to stall for time.
She believed that if Empress Wan's people could find her, then Uncle Xiao's people could find her just as easily.
With a pointed chin, he held a knife to Nan Qianyue and said pretentiously, "Empress Wan? What does our killing you have to do with Empress Wan? And why would His Majesty protect you? You're just an actress who escaped from a brothel, yet you dare to try and associate yourself with the royal family!"
"Stop wasting time talking to her! Kill her quickly to prevent future trouble!"
"superior!"
The blade, accompanied by a sharp wind, slashed down. Nan Qianyue suddenly crouched down, narrowly dodging the attack. She rolled off her horse, using it to evade the assault.
With a swift leap, the man with the pointed chin mounted the horse and charged with a powerful slash, wielding his sword!
Zheng—
The blades clashed, creating a deafening roar.
Nanqianyue suddenly looked up and saw a stone-green figure flash past her like a shooting star. Several martial arts heroes had no time to react and a bloody gash appeared on their necks. Their eyes were wide open, and they all fell to the ground.
"Ye Jian?" Nan Qianyue stood there in shock.
Ye Jian sheathed his sword, turned around, and clasped his hands in greeting to Nan Qianyue. "Miss Nan, are you alright?"
Nan Qianyue shook her head blankly, her gaze sweeping over the dead body on the ground and the two men still sitting at the table.
Ye Jian met her gaze and calmly explained, "Those two are Yu Wang's men."
Upon hearing this, Nan Qianyue frowned. Wasn't Prince Yu revealing her whereabouts in the Crown Prince's residence to Uncle Xiao in order to help her?
If you're going to help, why not just stand by and watch someone die?
Ye Jian noticed her confusion and continued to explain, "If Miss Nan dies at the hands of the Empress, Prince Anzheng will become a complete enemy of the Emperor, which would be a good thing for Prince Yu."
Good news...
Yes, Prince Yu probably only agreed to help Qin Yi leak her information to Uncle Xiao; as for her life or death, he didn't need to care anymore.
By not offending anyone, one can reap the benefits without lifting a finger.
Nan Qianyue composed herself and looked at Ye Jian, asking, "Are you here to take me back to the Crown Prince's residence?"
Ye Jian looked troubled. “Miss Nan, as you have seen, the Empress’s influence is widespread. You can’t escape. Why don’t you come back with me? My lord will never harm you.”
Nan Qianyue said sternly, "Isn't kidnapping me here considered harming me? Ye Jian, you were the one who seriously injured Hongyi and Wei Da that day and kidnapped me, weren't you?"
Ye Jian lowered his head with a look of shame. "...Yes."
Nanqianyue curled her lips into a mocking smile, then mounted her horse. "I went through so much trouble to escape, how could I possibly go back with you?"
Ye Jianfei stepped in front of the horse to block it, saying, "Miss Nan, the road ahead is truly dangerous."
"Get out of the way!" Nan Qianyue shouted.
Ye Jian stretched out his arm and shook his head, "If anything happens to you, I will not be able to explain it to my lord."
"Her safety is none of your business!"
A clear, angry voice pierced the air, while several hidden weapons shot towards Ye Jian's vital points.
Ye Jian brandished his sword sheath, knocking down all the hidden weapons, and stared intently at the approaching person.
"Thank you, Yanzhou! Brother Yuyou!" Nanqianyue called out in delight.
Xie Yanzhou and Yu You of the Kongshan Sect flew down from the tops of the trees.
"Qianqian! Are you injured?" Xie Yanzhou asked anxiously.
Nanqianyue shook her head, "No, I'm fine." She was just very hungry.
Xie Yanzhou breathed a slight sigh of relief, his cold gaze meeting Ye Jian's.
"Brother Xie, their men are coming soon. I'll hold them off, you take the princess and leave." Yu You gripped his weapon tightly and took two steps forward.
Xie Yanzhou stopped him, "You are no match for him. You take Qianqian and leave, I will stop him."
Yu You knew time was of the essence, "Okay, be careful."
Nanqianyue gave Xie Yanzhou a deep look, said nothing, pulled on the reins, turned the horse around, and galloped away.
Yu You casually led out a horse, threw down a bag of silver, and mounted the horse to catch up with the southward-migrating Yue.
Ye Jian tried to stop him, but Xie Yanzhou's attack came, and he was unable to defend himself, so he could only use his fists and feet to deal with it.
...
Longmen City.
Inside the Marshal's Mansion, Qin Yi sat behind his desk, flipping through military books, but he couldn't concentrate on a single word.
I felt inexplicably uneasy, so uneasy that it was suffocating.
A dark figure suddenly darted in.
"Your Highness, news from the sentries is that Xie Shisun has met with the Princess Consort, and she is heading north!"
Qin Yiteng stood up. "Are the men and horses ready?"
