Chapter 24 You have great taste

"My lord, you are foolish! How could you go to Fengdu? Prince Anzheng has surely laid a trap, just waiting for you to fall into it!"

On the observation deck of the ship, Yan Bo stamped his feet anxiously, looking at Xiao Chen who was relaxed and had a faint smile on his face, and he was even more worried.

Yan Bo suddenly looked at Nan Qianyue, who was enjoying the river view, and couldn't help but ask for help, "Miss Nan, please persuade the lord. We can't stay in Dongling for long, and we definitely can't go to Fengdu!"

Nan Qianyue smiled apologetically, "Uncle Yan, it's me who's going to Fengdu."

"What?!" Uncle Yan's eyes widened.

"I knew it was Miss Nan's idea again." Ye Jian stood straight by the railing, his face calm, his voice somewhat cold.

Yan Bo was stunned for a long time before anxiously asking, "Miss Nan, what are you going to Fengdu for? Now that Fengdu has surrendered to Dongling, aren't you afraid of being captured by Prince Anzheng again?"

The moon, which had been lowered in gazing southward, was referring to Qin Yi, the Prince Anzheng whom Yan Bo had mentioned.

"Don't make things difficult for her."

Xiao Chen approached Nan Qianyue and reached out to tighten her cloak. "Notify the sentries that they have two days to make their preparations."

Yan Bo's words of advice caught in his throat. He sighed heavily and left in silence.

"My lord, let me escort Miss Nan to Fengdu. How about you stay behind?" Ye Jian suggested.

Nan Qianyue glanced at Ye Jian, the man who had flown down from the painted boat to greet her. It turned out he was Xiao Chen's retainer, a renowned swordsman.

“I agree.” Nan Qianyue gently pushed away the hands that were tying and untying her cloak again and again. “Xiao Chen, you are the Crown Prince of Nan Jing. It was already risky for me to infiltrate Dongling. Now that we have come to the border, you might as well go back first and not let them worry.”

"Aren't you worried?" A hint of grievance flashed in Xiao Chen's eyes.

Nanqianyue twitched the corner of her mouth; this person knew how to kill a conversation.

“I would feel guilty,” she answered truthfully.

Xiao Chen lowered his eyes, a smile still playing on his lips, but with a different meaning. "I want to stay with you."

Upon hearing this, Ye Jian, who was a few steps away, immediately closed his eyes. He simply couldn't bear to watch and had no desire to offer any more advice.

Nan Qianyue opened her mouth but Xiao Chen covered it. He smiled from the bottom of his heart, "Nan Nan, don't try to persuade me. I'm only happy when you're by my side."

Ye Jian, standing to the side: ...So all those years of effort have been for nothing?

Nan Qianyue blinked and nodded, and Xiao Chen smiled and put his hand down.

That night.

The large ship docked at a small town, and Uncle Yan had already arranged accommodations for them.

After Xiao Chen escorted Nan Qianyue into her room, he lingered, staring at her longingly.

"Nan Nan, is there anything you want to say to me?" Xiao Chen asked expectantly.

Nanqianyue thought about it carefully, "No."

Xiao Chen frowned slightly. "Goodnight?"

Good evening? ?

She's taught Xiao Chen so many modern things; she's practically raised an advanced ancient person.

"Good night, sweet dreams." For some reason, I couldn't help but scratch my toes.

Xiao Chen smiled with satisfaction, "You too, the medicinal bath and clothes are all prepared, and the maids are here as well. Just tell them if you need anything."

"good."

The medicinal bath was indeed effective, as if it had cleared up all the meridians in her body, and Nanqianyue finally got a good night's sleep.

Even though it was past Chen Shi (7-9 AM), she was still sleeping soundly.

In her dream, she was lying on a sun-drenched lawn, next to a man whose face she couldn't make out, who was laughing happily.

As I migrate south, I close my eyes to enjoy the sunshine; it's so warm, but my face is a little itchy, and it's getting itchier...

"Nan Nan?"

The man next to her suddenly called her name. She wanted to open her eyes to see what he looked like, but she couldn't open them no matter what she did.

"Nan Nan?" Xiao Chen scooped the person off the bed and gently shook him.

As the moon slowly opened her eyes, through her hazy vision, she saw that the man lying next to her, who had been smiling, now had a face.

"Oh, it's you..." Nan Qianyue said in a daze.

Xiao Chen helped Nan Qianyue up and chuckled, "Nan Nan, were you dreaming about me?"

Nanqianyue finally slowly came to her senses. She shook her head and didn't feel embarrassed after seeing who it was.

"Have I slept for too long?"

"Yeah, it's been quite a long time, but that's a good thing." Xiao Chen propped up a cushion behind her and then got up to open the window.

Sunlight streamed in through the window, and Nanqianyue realized she had been sleeping until the sun was high in the sky and she still couldn't wake up.

"Nan Nan, I'll go outside and wait for you."

"good."

After Xiao Chen left, two maids came in. Since last night, they had been serving Nan Qianyue with their heads bowed the whole time, showing great respect.

Nanqianyue did not reject being served by others; on the contrary, she enjoyed it.

Outside in the corridor, Uncle Yan handed Xiao Chen a message from the hidden sentry.

Xiao Chen unfolded the note, glanced at it, and then gave a cold, enigmatic smile. He tore the note into pieces and casually tossed them on the ground, whereupon servants immediately knelt down to pick them up.

"Then so be it."

Xiao Chen spoke coldly, his eyes revealing a chilling ferocity that had never appeared before Nan Qianyue.

Yan Bo's expression was very solemn. He said, "My lord, do you really want to take such a risk?"

Xiao Chen smiled faintly, "You don't understand. He only won on the surface, but in reality, it was me who won."

Uncle Yan really doesn't understand. With his life hanging by a thread, how can he talk about winning?

Footsteps came from inside the room. Xiao Chen immediately cast a cold glare at the servant who was prostrate on the ground, which sent chills down the servant's spine.

"Get out." Xiao Chen growled.

The servant kowtowed and then quickly rolled away.

At the same time, the door was opened from the inside by a maid, and Nan Qianyue, dressed in a hibiscus-colored ruqun (a type of traditional Chinese dress), slowly walked out.
