The Wan family army camp on the border of Nanjing.
A dark blue figure swiftly entered the tent.
"My lord, His Majesty has sent word that you must return to Yundu immediately, or else... the Crown Prince will be deposed," Ye Jian reported nervously.
Sitting behind the desk, Xiao Chen had a gloomy expression and exuded a chilling and malevolent aura that made people afraid to approach him.
The air inside the tent lingered for a long time, and Ye Jian felt a chill run down his spine, breaking out in a cold sweat.
Finally, Xiao Chen spoke.
"Go and prepare, I need to see her."
Ye Jian desperately wanted to die on the spot, but he forced himself to persuade her, "My lord, please reconsider. Miss Nan... probably doesn't want to see you."
Now that things have come to this, there's no need to see each other anymore.
Xiao Chen raised his dark eyes and said, emphasizing each word, "Go and make the arrangements."
Ye Jian dared not persuade him any further, and could only nod under the immense pressure, "...Yes."
——
Longmen City, Marshal's Mansion.
Nanqianyue strolled with Qin Yi in the courtyard, asking, "How did you find me two years ago?" Though it was a step too late.
Qin Yi recalled the events of that day with lingering fear, "It was Prince Yu of Nanjing who sent me the message about your murder by Wan Fangyi, and it was also his sentry who revealed the location of that cliff."
Nanqianyue nodded thoughtfully, "That makes sense. Your being an enemy of Empress Wan is a good thing for him."
The two sat down at a stone table in the courtyard, and a servant immediately brought them tea and snacks.
Qin Yi held Nan Qianyue's hand, and the grievances buried deep in his heart seeped out from his eyes.
He spoke half-confessing and half-questioning, "Now that you've regained your memory, can you tell me why you left? Was everything we experienced before you left a lie? Were you lying to me all along?"
Seeing his expression, Nan Qianyue couldn't help but laugh, and said with a playful reproach, "I'm already married to you, why are you still bothered by the past?"
"It's different. I want to hear your answer." Qin Yi's expression was slightly anxious.
As the moon shone brightly in the south, she spoke each word with utmost seriousness:
“How could my experience be fake? At the time, I also thought I was just playing along with you, just to lower your guard.”
“When I went to Nanjing, your image would inexplicably appear in my mind every night. I was very annoyed and tried my best to get you out of my mind.”
"It wasn't until I fell off the cliff that I realized I had fallen in love with you, but I didn't dare to admit it, and I couldn't admit it, because all I wanted to do at that moment was go back."
Nan Qianyue gripped Qin Yi's hand tightly, her eyes filled with guilt. "When I was talking to Hongyi yesterday, she said you even vomited blood back then."
"Qin Yi, I'm sorry, I shouldn't have left you when you needed me the most."
The spring breeze, carrying warmth, brushed against my clothes, carrying away the pent-up emotions in my heart.
Qin Yi's dark pupils lit up with starlight; it turned out that all the waiting was worthwhile.
He said gently, "Moon, sit in my lap."
Nan Qianyue's face fell, and all her emotions vanished instantly.
"You're such a killjoy, you know that?" she retorted coldly.
Qin Yi put his arm around her waist and whispered, "I saw you were blaming yourself so much, so I wanted to comfort you."
Nan Qianyue's lips curled into a smirk. "Comforting someone doesn't require sitting on your lap. You're just trying to take advantage of me, aren't you?"
Qin Yi raised an eyebrow slightly. "Yue'er, have you forgotten that we are husband and wife? Isn't it normal for husband and wife to be intimate?"
Pointing to the sky during the southward lunar eclipse, he said, "Under the clear blue sky, in broad daylight, aren't you ashamed?"
Qin Yi remained calm and composed, saying, "I'm not ashamed."
Southward Migration Month: "..."
"Your Highness and Your Highness, someone is looking for Your Highness outside the mansion," the steward respectfully reported.
Nanqianyue finally seized the opportunity to temporarily shake off Qin Yi, saying, "You don't need to come with me, I'll go by myself."
Qin Yi seemed not to hear her and got up to follow closely behind her.
Southward Migration Month: "..."
.
Standing outside the mansion was none other than Ah He.
Nanqianyue's eyebrows lit up with joy. "Ahe! It's you! Come in with me quickly." She reached out to pull the boy.
Ah He took a step back and shook his head, saying, "I'm here to deliver a message. I'll leave after I've relayed it."
Nanqianyue smiled and nodded, "Okay, go ahead."
Ahe's expression was indifferent, completely lacking the enthusiasm he had shown when he first met Nanqianyue. He said expressionlessly, "Meet me at Wuxing Village tomorrow at 1-3 PM."
"Huh?" Nan Qianyue's eyes were glazed over. "Five Surnames Village? You want me to go to Five Surnames Village with you?"
Ah He handed her a note, saying, "He said you'll understand once you read it."
Nanqian Yue suddenly sensed something was wrong and quickly took the note and unfolded it:
Hermès Himalaya Kelly 28.
Xiao Chen...
"Was he threatening you? Are your grandparents alright?" Nan Qianyue asked anxiously, grabbing Ahe's shoulder.
Ah He's eyes suddenly reddened, and he choked out, "They're alright for now, but only if you show up in Wuxing Village tomorrow, otherwise..."
"I'm sorry..." Ah He finally couldn't hold back his tears.
Nan Qianyue tenderly cupped Ahe's face in her hands, "Good children, you have done nothing wrong to me, it is I who have dragged you down."
"Don't worry, I will definitely go tomorrow."
Ah He choked out, "Thank...thank you..."
Nan Qianyue took out a handkerchief and gently wiped away his tears. "You can stay at the Marshal's Mansion tonight, and we'll go there together tomorrow, okay?"
Ahe cried and shook her head, "No, I want to go back to be with my grandparents and my younger brothers and sisters."
Nanqianyue felt a mix of emotions. With Ahe's abilities, he could have easily taken care of himself, but he was too sensible and kind. Even though his parents had left, he insisted on staying in the village to take care of the elderly and children.
