Chapter 29 Do you know what time travel is?

Inside the tent, about twenty steps away from the marshal's tent, Nan Qianyue sat blankly at the table, the food on it already cold and untouched.

Qin Yi saw her blank expression as soon as he entered.

"Why haven't you eaten?" Qin Yi strode over and sat down beside her. Although he was clearly concerned, his tone sounded like a superior's interrogation.

Nanqianyue lowered her eyes to look at the food on the table: white porridge, stir-fried vegetables, wheat cakes, and bone broth.

After being fed by Xiao Chen for a few days, her picky eating nature resurfaced, and she had no appetite for these foods at all.

"I don't want to eat," she said coldly.

Qin Yi wanted to force a gentle smile to comfort her, but he couldn't manage a smile. He could only say in what he thought was a very gentle tone, "Fengdu City has some local specialties. I'll take you to see them tomorrow."

Windy City!

Nan Qianyue's eyes immediately lit up. She suppressed her excitement and tried her best not to let Qin Yi see anything amiss. "Okay, let's go to Fengdu tomorrow."

Qin Yi probably doesn't know her background. If he did, given his personality, he would never allow her to go to Fengdu again.

"Do you know what time travel is?" Nanqianyue still wanted to verify, so she asked this question.

Qin Yi frowned slightly. "I'd like to hear the details."

Nanqianyue chuckled lightly; he really didn't know.

"Time travel is like teleportation. One moment you're here, and the next you're in a faraway place, like... Nanjing."

The half-truth and half-false explanation of the Southern Migration Month would probably be considered a bizarre theory by Qin Yi, and he wouldn't be interested in it.

Sure enough, Qin Yi's thought process was different from that of ordinary people.

His face suddenly darkened, and his voice was as cold as ice, "Do you really want to go to Nanjing that much? What kind of spell did he cast on you that made you so obsessed with it even after you lost your memory?"

Nan Qianyue frowned. She had just given a random example; how could anyone misunderstand that?

Then Qin Yi's cold voice continued, "You didn't know about the poison on that knife, did you? Xiao Chen certainly made a good plan, not letting any possibility slip by."

"What nonsense are you talking about?" Nan Qianyue couldn't understand.

The knife was a gift from Xiao Chen, but the poison may not have been applied by Xiao Chen.

Qin Yi took it as her protecting Xiao Chen and couldn't help but feel a surge of anger. "Nanqianyue, do you think I found your trail by guessing?"

Nan Qianyue felt he was just putting on an act and retorted sarcastically, "Why are you bringing this up now? Are you trying to show that you deliberately let me go and used me to draw out Xiao Chen's wisdom?"

Her words and attitude made Qin Yi laugh in anger, but his expression immediately darkened.

His deep black eyes fixed on Nan Qianyue's brows, and he gritted his teeth, saying, "I really want to crack open your head and see what's inside."

"I'm not letting you go, I'm giving you a chance to see if you choose to stay or go find him. You've disappointed me greatly..."

Nanqianyue felt his imposing aura and had an urge to escape.

Just as she thought Qin Yi was about to do something wicked, Qin Yi suddenly picked up the wheat cake on the table and started eating it in big bites.

The way he ate was comparable to that of a jackal; he finished all the food on the table in about ten seconds.

He then put the bowls and plates back together and took them out.

Southward Migration Month: ...

Wow, they're quite polite; they even took their plates with them after they finished eating.

But was he telling the truth or lying? Could it be that his intention wasn't to use her to lure Xiao Chen out?

If no reinforcements had arrived yesterday, would Qin Yi have let Xiao Chen go...?

A mountain villa on the border of Dongling.

When Xiao Chen woke up, he was terribly gloomy.

Ye Jian hid in a secluded corner, too afraid to come out. At this moment, he desperately hoped that Miss Nan would descend from the sky and save the day.

"My lord, I am useless and have dragged you down."

Alan and Hu Bo knelt before Xiao Chen, their heads kowtowed to the ground, not daring to get up.

Xiao Chen suppressed his emotions somewhat, but he still exuded a chilling aura that could freeze one's heart and lungs.

He asked in a cold voice, "Why don't you take poison and commit suicide?"

Alan and Hu Bo kowtowed several times, saying, "Reporting to our lord, we are well aware of our mission and were ordered to die in front of Miss Nan. However, Qin Yi is extremely cunning. He immediately had the poison removed from our mouths and sealed our meridians. We... we have ruined your grand plan and deserve to die!"

"Your subordinate deserves to die!"

Xiao Chen let out a deep breath, his tone frighteningly calm, "These words really can't stay in the mortal world."

Alan and Huber already knew their fate; they didn't struggle, but silently awaited death's call.

"Ye Jian," Xiao Chen called out in a deep voice.

Ye Jian, who was hiding in the corner, rolled his eyes, but when he came out, he had a cold and hard look on his face again.

Xiao Chen turned his back and whispered, "Send them on their way."

Ye Jian nodded, drew his long sword from his waist, and stood in front of Alan and Hu Bo. He said, "My sword is fast, it won't cause you too much pain."

As soon as he finished speaking, a flash of sword light appeared, but Ye Jian remained standing as if he hadn't moved an inch.

A red mark appeared on Alan's and Hu Bo's necks, their pupils dilated instantly, and then they collapsed to the ground.

“My lord.” Uncle Yan approached.

He leaned down behind Xiao Chen and said, "The Empress has sent word that Prince Yu has been making a lot of moves recently and requests that you return as soon as possible."

There was a moment of silence.

"Yes, reply to the Empress Dowager. I will return to Nanjing tomorrow."

"yes."

After Yan Bo left, Ye Jian cast a scrutinizing glance his way. "Isn't my lord in a hurry to find Miss Nan?" There was a hint of sarcasm in his tone.

Xiao Chen naturally wouldn't hold a grudge against him. He gave a smile that was worth pondering, "There's no rush. Soon, I will stand openly in front of Nan Nan."
