Chapter 30 Why are you glaring at me?

Twenty strokes of the military rod?

Such a heavy punishment.

But she didn't want to lower herself to beg Qin Yi again.

"Take good care of your injuries and stop causing trouble. Otherwise, how will you withstand twenty lashes?" Nan Qianyue blinked innocently, then walked past Qingyi without a second thought.

Qingyi: ...Miss Nan, how cruel you are!

After making his rounds during the southward migration, he randomly grabbed a soldier and asked, "Where's Qin Yi?"

The soldier was so frightened he nearly fell to the ground. He straightened his hat, which had been askew, and said tremblingly, "Miss Hui...Miss Huinan, the Marshal is at the training ground!"

After saying that, the soldier slunk away.

The hand that was grabbing him during the southward migration stopped in mid-air. Where was the training ground?

So she kept asking the soldiers for directions, startling them, until she finally found her way to the training ground.

From afar, Qin Yi could be seen standing on the stands in a fitted black robe, exuding a chilling aura that was extremely intimidating.

About two zhang in front of him, a man who had removed his armor was kneeling on the ground, with a black-armored soldier holding a thick stick standing on either side.

This scene was not unfamiliar to Nanqianyue; it was clear that the man had made a mistake and was being punished.

Suddenly, a piercing gaze fell upon Nan Qianyue, and she turned her eyes slightly to meet Qin Yi's dark, inky eyes.

"Come here." Qin Yi beckoned to her.

Nanqianyue didn't hesitate and walked over very generously.

"When are we going to Fengdu?" Nanqian Yue stood beside him, stating his purpose directly.

Qin Yi's coldness subsided somewhat, and his voice became calm, "Deal with this deserter and then go."

deserter?

Nan Qianyue turned her gaze to the kneeling man. This man had a stern face, and the resentment and anger in his eyes were not hidden at all.

"Marshal, you show such disrespect to His Majesty, could it be that you have long harbored rebellious intentions!" the man uttered vicious words.

A cold glint flashed in Qin Yi's eyes. "Outrageous! You deserted the military camp without permission from your superiors and even dared to shift the blame onto His Majesty. This is a double offense. Both offenses will be punished together. You will be punished with one hundred strokes of the cane."

The man immediately showed fear. One hundred strokes of the cane would be the death of him. Qin Yi clearly intended to kill him.

"Marshal! Marshal, spare my life! I know I was wrong! I will listen to you from now on! Spare my life, Marshal!" The man was frightened and began to beg for mercy.

Qin Yi frowned slightly, revealing his impatience. "Hit."

The stick, thicker than an arm, fell heavily, each blow aimed at vital points. After only ten blows, the man collapsed to his knees on the ground.

Nanqianyue covered her ears in distress as she listened to the screams. She had never known that real military flogging was so brutal. No wonder Qingyi had come to apologize with thorns on her back so early in the morning.

Qin Yi turned his head to look at Nan Qianyue, suppressing his reluctance, and said sternly, "Don't cover your ears, look carefully and listen carefully."

After saying that, he took her hand away.

Only by letting her witness more bloodshed here will she not be frightened by those sordid methods when she returns to the capital.

Nanqianyue frowned. Was he trying to scare her on purpose?

Thinking of this, she glared at Qin Yi and said, "Do you think I'm afraid?"

Qin Yi smiled and said, "It's best if you're not afraid."

After a hundred strokes of the cane, the deserter was already bleeding from all seven orifices and had stopped breathing.

Nan Qianyue, suppressing the discomfort in her chest, looked up and asked Qin Yi, "Can...can we go now?"

Qin Yi looked at her, who was clearly scared but was forcibly wrapped in a hard shell, and felt indescribable emotions. He bent down slightly and held her hand, which was ice cold.

He felt even worse.

"Walk."

He didn't say much, and simply pulled her away from the classroom.

General Li had been waiting for a long time at the gate of Fengdu City.

When he saw Qin Yi carrying Miss Nan on horseback, his old face immediately fell.

The marshal is completely out of line!

Ignoring General Li's suggestive glances and Nan Qianyue's resistance, Qin Yi picked her up from the horse and led her toward General Li.

Standing behind General Li were the surrendered old city lord of Fengdu and Yang Hua.

"Marshal, why did you bring Miss Nan with you? Prime Minister Nan is coming soon—"

"I know that the new prefect has already made his way halfway, and General Li will have to work hard for a few more days." Qin Yi naturally interrupted General Li.

General Li's words stuck in his chest, turning into a breath he couldn't exhale. With a sullen face, he stepped aside, saying, "Marshal, please!"

He was unwilling to say anything more at that moment.

But we still need to find a time to talk to the Marshal in private. The Southern Chancellor is already at odds with the Marshal, so how could he be willing to marry his daughter to him? The old emperor wouldn't allow it either!

The marshal was completely blinded by beauty!

Qin Yi led Nan Qianyue through the streets of Fengdu. Every two zhang (approximately 6.6 meters) there were one or two soldiers in black armor guarding the streets. The scattered civilians on the street shrank back, clearly terrified.

Especially when they saw Qin Yi, they looked like they had seen the King of Hell.

"See if there's anything you want to eat," Qin Yi said, squeezing Nan Qianyue's hand.

Nanqianyue had no time to think about food; as soon as she entered the city, she started looking for the street she had escaped from.

However, in order not to arouse Qin Yi's suspicion, she deliberately said, "Look how frightened the people are. They probably won't be in the mood to cook."

Yang Hua, who was following behind the two, immediately frowned, because in his opinion, Nan Qianyue's words were undoubtedly stirring up Qin Yi's dissatisfaction with the people.

Sure enough, Qin Yi's voice suddenly turned cold, "Anyone who dares not to do their job properly will be punished by being sent to hard labor."

Just as Nan Qianyue was about to retort, she suddenly felt a burning sensation on the back of her head. She turned around and met Yang Hua's indignant eyes.

However, he quickly lowered his head, knowing that this woman was not to be offended.

"Armor-piercing man, why are you glaring at me?" Nan Qianyue asked, raising an eyebrow.
