Chapter 38 One Shouldn't Call Prince Anzheng by His Name Directly

"Little brother, little sister," Nan Qianyue called out to the two people inside the viewing window through the artificial hill and green pines with a faint smile.

The two people who were talking behind each other's backs, especially Nan Yichu, immediately blushed.

However, it faded away quickly.

Nan Kezhi immediately led Nan Yichu out of the main hall and to Nan Qianyue.

"Younger sister greets elder sister."

Nanqian Yue nodded and returned a thoughtful smile.

Then she looked at Nan Yichu, whose eyes were downcast and whose expression was awkward, unwilling to look her in the eye.

"Is my younger brother unwilling to acknowledge me as his elder sister?" Nan Qianyue asked in a relaxed tone, a smile playing on her lips, without a hint of blame or dissatisfaction.

When I first entered the Prime Minister's residence, I didn't take a close look at the appearance of these two people, but now I see that they are both good-looking.

Nan Kezhi looked like a gentle and polite woman, with very soft features.

Looking at Nan Yichu again, he is a handsome young man whose eyebrows and eyes are very similar to Nan Xiang's.

Nan Kezhi tugged at Nan Yichu's sleeve and whispered a reminder, "Little brother, quickly call your older sister."

Nan Yichu frowned, pouted, and reluctantly called out, "Big Sister." Her voice was barely audible.

Nan Qianyue smiled and said, "Come in and sit down." She acted like the hostess.

Led by maids and servants, Nanqian Yue Dangxian walked into the main hall.

Nan Yichu was still acting awkwardly, but in the end, Nan Kezhi dragged him into the inner room.

Since their elders were not present, the three of them, who had migrated south, sat down in the tea room.

She sat alone on one side, while Nan Kezhi and Nan Yichu sat side by side opposite her.

"Elder sister, I heard you lost your memory. How are you now? Are you feeling unwell?" Nan Kezhi asked with concern.

Nanqianyue picked up her teacup, took a small sip, and smiled, "Sister, you're worried. I'm doing very well now."

"That's good." Nan Kezhi also picked up her teacup and took a sip, as if this could ease some of the awkwardness.

"Young lady, the deputy general who escorted you back says he needs to see you. The steward has already led him to the side hall." A servant's voice came from outside.

Nanqianyue was taken aback; she had completely forgotten about the blue and red dresses.

“Okay, I understand,” she replied.

She then looked at her younger siblings, raised her eyebrows, and asked, "Do you want to come along?"

Nanqianyue caught a glimpse of the light in her younger brother's eyes when he heard the words "deputy general," and after overhearing him praising Qin Yi in the garden, she guessed that her younger brother must greatly admire military generals.

Sure enough, Nan Yichu looked up at her in shock, her eyes brimming with undisguised anticipation.

But he held back his words, and when Nan Qianyue looked at him, he immediately looked away.

When he was being greeted at the entrance of the Prime Minister's residence, he noticed the imposing black-clad riders and the two dashing deputy generals. If it weren't for the need to observe etiquette, he would have rushed forward to pay homage immediately.

“The deputy general by Prince Anzheng’s side is looking for my eldest sister, so it must be something very important. We won’t disturb him,” Nan Kezhi said tactfully.

Nan Qianyue smiled and nodded, saying nothing more. Ignoring Nan Yichu's conflicted and struggling appearance, she stood up and left.

She wouldn't ask Nan Yichu alone again. After all, he was a legitimate son, yet he had no opinions of his own and refused to speak to his elder sister. So, she decided to let it go.

Anyway, she's an outsider and will leave sooner or later, so why get too involved with the ancients?

Side hall.

Only the woman in blue and a few servants were present.

Nan Qianyue entered the hall and glanced around before finally settling on Qingyi. "Is there something you forgot to mention?"

Her question was so casual that it was easy to tell she wasn't interested in what Qingyi was about to say.

The woman in green was quite excited. “Miss Nan, I’ve come to tell you that the Prince will arrive in the capital tonight. There will be a grand banquet in the palace tomorrow, and both you and Prime Minister Nan will be invited to the palace. The Prince asked me to give you a heads-up so you can be prepared.”

"What?" Nan Qianyue was stunned.

There's a lot of information here...

Is Qin Yi coming back tonight?

Is she going to the banquet in the palace tomorrow?

What's the logic behind this?

It's normal for the emperor to host a banquet to reward a victorious general, but what's the meaning of letting a woman like her go as well?

She didn't belittle her own womanhood; she simply couldn't keep up with the way of thinking of the ancients.

"Why did Qin Yi suddenly come back? Isn't he guarding the border? And why should I go to the palace banquet? Can I not go?" Nan Qianyue asked in a very low voice, but the maids and servants who were close to her heard her.

Qingyi seemed to have guessed that she would ask this question, and had already thought of the answer in advance.

"Miss Nan has lost her memory, so naturally she doesn't know. General Li is guarding the eastern border. Your Highness was only ordered to subdue Fengdu this time. Now that the prefects sent to Fengdu have arrived, Your Highness naturally has to return to the capital to report."

"As for the palace banquet... it was actually Consort You who spread the news, so I suppose you couldn't refuse." The woman in green's eyebrows twitched erratically a few times.

Nan Qianyue frowned slightly. "Who is Consort You?" She didn't know her.

The woman in green cleared her throat and whispered, "The late emperor's concubine, the prince's foster mother."

I still don't recognize you.

I'm not interested.

“…Oh, have you eaten?” Nan Qianyue suddenly asked.

"Huh?" Qingyi was a beat slow to react. "Oh, not yet."

"Then you should go back and eat." Nan Qianyue smiled.

Qingyi didn't think anything was wrong. A hint of innocent foolishness appeared on his solemn face. He clasped his hands and said, "Alright, then I won't disturb Miss Nan any longer."

After Qingyi left, the old woman behind Nanqianyue immediately spoke up, "Young lady, you shouldn't have addressed Prince Anzheng by his given name, and you shouldn't have interfered in court affairs. This old servant will inform the madam about this matter so you can be prepared."
