Chapter 40 Many thanks to the Prince for saving my life

Nanqianyue was very strong at this time. She looked around the street and saw a tent that had not yet been set up on the ground. Her eyes lit up.

"Green Robe, see that shed? Jump when the carriage passes by!"

The woman in green had no choice but to bite the bullet and jump. "Miss, let me jump down first to catch you!"

Amidst the thunder and lightning, prompted by Nanqianyue, Green Robe leaped and successfully landed on the shed. Nanqianyue was about to jump over as well when the carriage suddenly swayed its tail.

Nanqianyue was thrown into the vehicle and missed her chance to escape.

Southward Migration Month: "..." Shit!

Seeing the carriage drive out of the street and rush towards that secluded area, Nan Qianyue struggled to climb to the door and direct the driver.

"Pull the horse to the left, don't let it run into the countryside!"

The driver was already drenched in sweat. "Yes!"

It was clear the horse was in great pain; when the driver pulled on the reins, the horse let out a pitiful whinny.

Suddenly, something utterly baffling happened.

In the middle of the street intersection on the left, two children stood there crying with their mouths open. The adults were scattered by the crowd, leaving the two children standing there crying and shouting in confusion.

Nanqianyue gritted his teeth and shouted, "Pull to the right! To the outskirts!"

The carriage had already injured civilians as it sped along, and she couldn't trample on the innocent for her own sake.

Fortunately, the driver was strong and able to hold the reins, preventing the two children from getting hurt.

As the carriage gradually moved away from the crowd, the surrounding houses became increasingly sparse, and scattered trees appeared.

Nanqianyue hardened her heart. That bastard was definitely after her, so she wouldn't drag the coachman into it.

"I'll jump onto the horse, and you cut the rope!" Before the coachman could reply, Nanqianyue pushed off with all her might and pounced on the horse.

She turned around and yelled, "Cut the rope!"

After hesitating for a long time, the driver finally made up his mind and cut the rope.

As the moon moved south, it pulled on the reins and spurred its wild horse forward.

She only prayed that she could find a safe place when the horse got tired.

The Prime Minister's Residence, Qingyin Courtyard, Nan Kezhi's courtyard.

The personal maid looked indignant. "Miss, why did the Fifth Princess only invite the eldest young lady? She only stayed at the Prime Minister's residence for a few days. How come she stole all the limelight as soon as she returned? In the past, outsiders only recognized you as the young lady of the Prime Minister's residence."

"Shut up," Nan Kezhi scolded in a low voice. "Eldest sister is the eldest daughter of the legitimate wife, how can I compare to her? It is only reasonable for the Fifth Princess to invite only her. Don't say such things again."

The maid was still dissatisfied, "Miss, you are too kind-hearted. The eldest daughter has never had a good upbringing, while you have been learning etiquette, manners, music, chess, calligraphy and painting since you can remember. She can't compare to you."

Nan Kezhi glared at her, then lightly tapped the maid's head as punishment. "You silly girl, I told you not to say anything more, did you hear me?"

The maid pretended to cover her head and try to hide, but she couldn't suppress the smile on her face. "Please spare me, young lady. I'm just telling the truth."

Nan Kezhi couldn't suppress the smile on her face, and she threw her handkerchief at the maid, "You're so glib, you deserve a beating!"

The official road in the suburbs.

It took a tremendous amount of effort to prevent the horses from running into the woods during the southward migration; they always managed to find concentrated areas by following the main roads.

After a long, frantic run, Nanqianyue's legs and back were almost ruined, and her hands were chafed raw by the reins; wherever she had gripped them, there was bloodstains.

She observed along the way and finally saw something different.

Those were many raised black sheds, which looked like poisonous mushrooms from a distance.

The most eye-catching thing was the fluttering flag, with a black background and red flame-like patterns on it.

Nanqianyue's eyes lit up; she recognized the flag—it was Qin Yi's Black Riders' exclusive flag.

She immediately pulled on the reins, urging the horse to gallop towards the black mushrooms.

Unbeknownst to her, three teams were following her.

One group was dressed in khaki guard uniforms, another group was dressed like bandits, and yet another group was dressed in uniform black.

"Get out of the way!" The horse wouldn't stop at all; even after reaching the Black Riders' encampment, it was still galloping wildly.

"Someone has trespassed on the premises!"

"Stop her!"

"Go and report to the general immediately!"

Nanqianyue rode her mad horse straight over the fence and galloped into the camp. She never imagined that her horsemanship could be so good.

Her intrusion successfully alerted the Black Riders, who, being well-trained, immediately dispatched several riders to pursue Nanqianyue.

But that mad horse is hard to catch, like a dying life making its last struggle.

The black-clad rider drew his bow and aimed at the horse beneath Nanqian Yue. Nanqian Yue caught a glimpse of it out of the corner of her eye and shouted, "Don't shoot!"

Whether you shoot the horse or you shoot her, it's going to kill her!

"Zheng—!"

The arrow fired by the black rider was knocked down by the flying dagger. Immediately afterwards, a man wearing a black close-fitting robe rode up on a warhorse. The warhorse was incredibly fast and quickly caught up with the mad horse. The man leaped onto the mad horse's back.

"Qin—" Before Nan Qianyue could call out his name, the man picked her up and lifted her into the air. After two spins in the air, she finally landed.

Southward Migration Moon: ...Who says it's romantic for a hero to spin around in the air while rescuing a damsel in distress? It's absolutely maddening, it makes my brain spin.

"Your Highness!" The black-clad riders rushed over and surrounded the two.

Qin Yi scooped up the starry-eyed Nan Qianyue and strode quickly toward the tent, saying, "Bring Bai Shu to my tent!"

"yes!"

One of the young soldiers seemed to recognize Nan Qianyue, "Isn't that the young lady of the Prime Minister's family that the Prince just rescued?"

"Why did she come here?"

"Idiot, you should definitely look for the prince."

Inside the tent, Nan Qianyue shook her head, looked up at Qin Yi, and said weakly, "Thank you, Your Highness, for saving my life. Otherwise, I would be dead."
