Chapter 7 The military camp is not a place for young women.

General Hong offered a suggestion, and continued his analysis: "This person may be a hidden master in Fengdu. He may have slipped out of the city to fetch reinforcements. Since he has escaped, I think we should attack the city as soon as possible, lest something unexpected happen."

General Li stroked his beard, his face grave. “If we hastily attack the city, the people of Fengdu will inevitably suffer. The old city lord of Fengdu may seem to be protecting the people of the city, but in reality, he is just using them as a shield.”

“If Dongling does not care about the people of the city, even if it conquers Fengdu, it will still be known for its brutality.”

Dongling was founded on military strength; if it were to commit further acts of brutality, the nation's reputation would be in grave danger.

"Marshal, what do you mean?" General Li asked.

Qin Yi's gaze remained fixed on the map. In fact, he could have killed Yang Hua during their battle during the day, but considering Yang Hua's loyalty to the country and his exceptional talent as a general, it would have been the best outcome to recruit him into his ranks.

"Can we still contact the sentries in the city?" Qin Yi asked, raising his eyes.

Deputy General Qing replied, "One is dead, but we can still contact the survivors."

Qin Yi nodded, his slender fingers gliding lightly across the map; it was time to make some noise.

"Qingyi, send someone to keep a close eye on the Crown Prince of Nan Jing."

Deputy General Qing frowned, rolled his eyes, and clasped his hands, saying, "Yes." He was puzzled. Was that woman really Miss Nan? Otherwise, why would the Prince have ordered him to keep a close eye on the Crown Prince of Nan Jing?

Qin Yi straightened up. "General Hong, strengthen the defense of the grain supplies."

"yes!"

"Marshal, is that woman truly the daughter of the Southern Chancellor?"

General Li was a highly decorated soldier with a high status in the army, and he was the only one who dared to ask questions that ordinary people dared not mention.

The marshal risked his own safety to save the woman of suspicious identity. Now the news has spread throughout the army, and most say that the marshal was bewitched by her beauty and may have fallen into Feng Du's trap.

Some even privately suggested that the woman should be beheaded at the foot of Fengdu City to stabilize the army's morale and demonstrate the prestige of Dongling.

After all, the soldiers in the army did not know the woman's identity as the daughter of the Southern Prime Minister, and only thought that she was a seductive woman who had bewitched the marshal.

Qin Yi remained calm, and even without speaking, he exuded an aura of authority that commanded respect without anger.

When asked about General Li's question, he simply responded with an "uh-huh".

But General Li was not easily fooled. His expression was solemn. "Marshal, we must carefully investigate why the daughter of the Southern Chancellor ended up in Fengdu. However, we should send someone to escort her back to the capital first. The military camp is not a place for a young woman."

Qin Yi turned to look at General Li, his calm tone carrying an undeniable air of authority, "I, the commander, will make the decision on this matter."

After a brief pause, before General Li could speak, Qin Yi immediately changed the subject, "Tomorrow at 3:45 AM, General Li will lead the vanguard battalion to negotiate peace at the foot of Fengdu City."

"Peace talks?" The generals looked at each other, wondering if the marshal was sure he hadn't said the wrong thing.

General Li, the most experienced of the group, was the first to realize that the peace talks were a ruse, and that the real purpose was to deceive Feng.

General Li clasped his hands and said, "I understand!"

When Qin Yi returned to his tent, Nan Qianyue was already fast asleep.

He quickly washed himself and sat on the edge of the bed, staring at Nan Qianyue's face.

Her porcelain-like skin, her picturesque eyebrows and eyes, and her naturally red lips—every detail was deeply etched into his heart.

She didn't sleep soundly, but she also softened her edges and seemed much more obedient.

After looking at her for a long time, Qin Yi lifted the corner of the quilt and lay down. He wanted to hold her in his arms, but he was afraid of waking her up and hearing those hurtful words again.

Qin Yi turned his body to the side, his gaze intense, as if afraid of missing a single glance.

This time, she won't get away...

The next day, Nanqianyue was dragged out of bed. Before she could even open her eyes, she heard a woman's strong, resentful voice.

“I’ve offended Miss Nan. The Prince asked me to help you get up, but I’ve called you several times and you still haven’t woken up. So I’ll have to help you.”

The female general looked impatient. She had been the prince's deputy general for many years, but now she was being forced to work as a maid. How could she not be angry?

Nan Qianyue shook her head and quickly came to her senses. She frowned and looked at the woman, who had a very heroic appearance, but her expression revealed a hint of annoyance.

"I don't need your help, you go about your business." She could tell that this female general didn't like her.

To everyone's surprise, the female general's impatient expression intensified. "Miss Nan, please don't joke around. You should know whether you can comb your hair or not. Please get up quickly, I have many things to take care of."

Combing your hair?

The woman was probably referring to their ancient hairstyles, so she certainly didn't know how to do it.

But how did she know she couldn't comb her hair? And the prince she mentioned must be that crazy marshal, I think his name is... Qin Yi.

Yes, that's what the armored general who captured her in Fengdu called him.

So, Qin Yi also knew that she couldn't comb her hair?

"What are you still thinking about, Miss Nan?" The female general couldn't help but feel displeasure when she saw that Nan Qianyue was still in a daze.

"Oh, right away."

Nanqianyue got up with a puzzled look in her eyes, walked around the screen and sat down in front of the simple dressing table. She remembered that there was no dressing table last night.

The female general walked silently behind her, her face dark the whole time. She combed her hair quickly but gently, which made Nan Qianyue feel very comfortable.

Nan Qianyue raised her eyebrows slightly and looked at the female general through the mirror. She thought that this should be a straightforward and virtuous female general.

"alright."

The female general put down the comb and said coldly, "Those who need to wash up are in the back, and breakfast is on that table over there. If Miss Ruonan has nothing else to do, I'll be leaving now."

Nan Qianyue smiled gently, her voice calm, "Thank you, I'm all right here."

The female general gave a perfunctory clasp of her hands, then turned and strode away.
