Chapter 8 The Enchantress Who Bewitched the Marshal

"I really—"

"Eat." Qin Yi didn't want to hear any more hurtful words. He picked up his chopsticks and handed them to Nan Qianyue, silencing her from further complaints.

Perhaps it was because his aura was too domineering, Nan Qianyue swallowed her words and obediently took the chopsticks and started eating.

She's a picky eater, and put down her chopsticks after eating very little.

Qin Yi naturally took the pancake that she had only taken two bites of and put down, and quickly ate it under Nan Qianyue's astonished gaze.

He ate very quickly, finishing all the food on the table in no time.

Even the porridge that was only half-eaten during the southward migration was swallowed.

“You…” Nan Qianyue’s expression was strange, and he was speechless for a moment. He really didn’t mind.

Qin Yi picked up a handkerchief and wiped his mouth. "I know you're picky and don't like the food in the army, but wasting food is a serious crime in the military."

Nanqianyue was speechless. Did he know she was a picky eater again?

Is she so similar to the daughter of the Southern Chancellor?

What a terrible thing to do.

"I still have military affairs to attend to. If you need anything, just have the guards outside call me."

Qin Yi squeezed Nan Qianyue's hand, his gaze tracing her exquisite features again and again before he got up and left the tent.

Nan Qianyue lowered her eyes and rubbed the back of her hand that he had pinched, as if his burning heat still lingered on it.

Does that mean she can't go out?

What if she needs to use the restroom?

The curtain over the gate was pulled open again, revealing an old soldier in worn armor. He stood at the doorway, facing south, and respectfully bowed with his hands clasped.

"Miss Nan, I'm here to collect the dishes. I hope I haven't disturbed you."

In fact, the old man had already paid his respects to Qin Yi outside the tent and only entered after receiving his instructions.

Nan Qianyue smiled and said, "I'm sorry to bother you. Thank you."

"Miss Nan, you are too modest. This is my duty."

The veteran walked carefully to the table, bowing low, but still accidentally flicked his chopsticks to the ground.

"Your subordinate deserves to die!" The veteran immediately knelt down.

Startled, Nan Qianyue jumped up from the stool and quickly helped the old soldier up, saying, "It's alright, it's just a dropped chopstick, no need to kneel."

Nanqianyue picked up the chopsticks from the ground and handed them to the veteran, saying, "Here you go, old man."

The veteran took the chopsticks with trembling hands, and at the same time looked up and smiled at Nan Qianyue, "Thank you, young lady."

"It's alright." Nan Qianyue shook her head and escorted the veteran all the way to the gate.

Seeing that the veteran was about to leave, Nan Qianyue suddenly called out to him, "Wait, sir, I would like to ask you some questions."

The old soldier turned around, holding the wooden tray, and smiled kindly, "Go ahead and ask, young lady."

Nan Qianyue pursed her lips and thought for a moment before asking, "I want to know what the name of that female general in the army is?"

The veteran lowered his eyes and thought for a moment. There was only one female general in the army. "The young lady is probably asking about Deputy General Hong. Her name is Hongyi. She is a deputy general who has followed the marshal for many years. There is also Deputy General Qing, whose name is Qingyi. Both of their names were given by the marshal himself."

"Oh." Nan Qianyue raised an eyebrow. This name was chosen rather casually.

"Then, does the old man know anything about the daughter of the Southern Chancellor of Dongling?"

Upon hearing her question, the veteran looked up in surprise, "Young lady, you...?"

Nan Qianyue instantly realized what she was asking. Wasn't she the "daughter of the Southern Prime Minister"?

"What I mean is... is..."

"Miss Nan!"

A loud female voice rang out from outside, and the figure of the deputy general appeared outside the tent. "Miss Nan, do you have any free time? There is a young general in the wounded soldiers' camp whose leg is injured and cannot be set. I would like to ask Miss Nan to come over and give me some advice."

Nanqianyue's eyes widened in surprise, her hair standing on end. Was that the woman in red? How did she know she could heal wounds?!

Is she meeting the daughter of the Southern Prime Minister again?

This is too bizarre.

"Miss Nan?" The woman in red outside frowned.

"They're here."

After calming herself down, Nanqian Yue nodded to the veteran and said, "Please make yourself at home, sir."

The veteran was sensible and didn't ask or look any further; he bowed and withdrew.

The woman in red then lifted the curtain, her spirited eyes showing a mixture of anxiety and pleading. "Miss Nan, I was very rude just now. I hope you won't hold it against me."

"Oh, no, no, your hair is combed very well." She had actually given people the wrong impression.

Nan Qianyue smiled at the woman in red, then pulled her wrist and walked out, saying, "Aren't we going to the wounded soldiers' camp? Let's go."

The woman in red frowned, glancing down at the wrist that had been pulled, her expression revealing an indescribable awkwardness.

Upon leaving the camp, the Southern Migration Moon was once again awestruck.

Tents stood in rows for miles, and military flags fluttered, displaying an imposing presence.

This is a real military camp, not a film set where only a portion of the scenes were filmed.

As Nan Qianyue walked along, he admired the military camp, while the soldiers around him secretly cast their gazes at him.

Some even whispered among themselves, "That's the woman the marshal rescued despite military law; she's truly beautiful."

"What beauty? She's just a seductive woman who bewitched the marshal, and might even be a spy sent by Fengdu."

"What spy? That's the daughter of the Southern Chancellor."

"Stop talking!"

The woman in red shot out a sharp gaze. Having killed countless enemies, she possessed a murderous aura in her eyes that frightened ordinary people. Even the lowest-ranking soldiers trembled at the sight of her.

Upon receiving a warning look from the deputy general, the soldiers immediately shut their mouths and withdrew their scrutinizing gazes.

The woman in red softened her sharp gaze and looked at Nan Qianyue. "Miss Nan, please don't be offended. Your sudden appearance is bound to arouse suspicion."

Nanqianyue raised an eyebrow. The woman in red wasn't trying to explain to the soldiers, but rather expressing her suspicions. Did she want Nanqianyue to explain why she had suddenly appeared in Fengdu?

She wanted to know too.

"Red Robe, you seem to know Nan Xiang... uh, I know me very well?" Nan Qianyue didn't respond to Red Robe's words, but instead asked the question that had been bothering her.
