Chapter 89: The Two Men Meet, the Atmosphere is Tensive (shuhaige.net)

"Oh dear! How could I forget the important matter!"

Nan Qianyue pushed Xiao Chen away forcefully and said urgently, "You go quickly! Qin Yi is coming to Muyang Manor!"

Xiao Chen's gaze darkened, and he wiped his eyes with Nan Qianyue's wide sleeve. "Whether he comes or not is none of my business."

"What do you mean it's none of your business!" Nan Qianyue pulled back her sleeve and slapped his arm. "Stop dawdling, you and Ye Jian get out of here right now, quick!"

As she spoke, she stood up and pulled Xiao Chen upwards.

But Xiao Chen didn't move an inch. He reached out and pressed Nan Qianyue back down on the stool. He said calmly, "Nan Nan, don't worry, nothing will happen."

"Aren't you a little too carefree?" Nan Qianyue's forehead was etched with utter speechlessness.

So she's the only one here worrying? The emperor isn't worried, but the eunuch is?

Xiao Chen finally smiled. He calmly opened the food box on the table and took out the food one by one.

"Nan Nan probably hasn't had lunch yet, right? These are all your favorite foods."

Nan Qianyue looked at him quietly. What could she say? If he wasn't leaving, could she drag him away?

"Did you know Qin Yi was coming beforehand and make thorough preparations?" Nan Qianyue moved her stool to the other side, silently increasing the distance between herself and Xiao Chen.

Xiao Chen noticed her little actions and felt a pang in his heart. Pretending to ignore it, he set out the bowls and chopsticks and slowly said as he served the dishes to Nan Qianyue, "Almost there."

The aroma wafted from the bowls and plates to Nan Qianyue's nose. She pursed her lips, but in the end, she couldn't resist picking up her chopsticks and eating.

Seeing her eating with relish, Xiao Chen's displeasure vanished, and a satisfied smile appeared on his lips.

"You really are incredibly well-connected; you even know everything about the Prime Minister's residence." Nan Qianyue glanced at him, her tone devoid of praise.

Xiao Chen picked up a braised crab with wine, lowered his eyes and dissected it, "I had the undercover agents investigate. If Nan Nan doesn't like it, I won't interfere in the affairs of the Prime Minister's residence anymore."

"It's not that I dislike it." Nan Qianyue scooped up a spoonful of the unidentified soup, tasted it, and couldn't help but praise, "Mmm! This is delicious."

Xiao Chen placed the crab meat he had taken out in front of her, his smile deepening. "I was worried that your tastes might have changed and you wouldn't like this Linglong Soup anymore."

Nanqianyue chewed a little slower and muttered, "I'm not that picky about food."

Xiao Chen smiled, not responding to her question, but the answer was in his smile.

Zheng—

The sound of sharp blades clashing suddenly rang out on the balcony where Ye Jian was.

Nan Qianyue was startled and looked to the side. She saw several figures flying up to the surrounding buildings. Two of them were fighting with Ye Jian, while the other figures quickly opened all the doors of the private room and stood upright at the key points.

Suddenly, a flood of light poured in from all directions, and the once cozy private room was transformed into a trial hall.

The door was opened, and Nan Qianyue could clearly see the two people fighting Ye Jian: one in green and one in red.

Oh no, Qin Yi is here.

Unlike Nan Qianyue's panic, Xiao Chen appeared unusually calm and composed. Seeing that there was some soup stain on the corner of Nan Qianyue's mouth, he took out a handkerchief and gently wiped it for her.

The movements were slow and gentle, as if wiping a delicate work of art that was extremely fragile.

However, the Southern Migration Month's attention was focused on the outside world.

Ye Jian and the other two had stopped fighting and were all looking in the direction of the stairwell.

Nanqianyue swallowed hard, her chest pounding rapidly; she was more nervous than she had imagined.

As she held her breath, she saw the tall, dark figure stride in.

The newcomer's fierce gaze swept over Xiao Chen's hand wiping Nan Qianyue's lips, and a murderous aura immediately emanated from him.

He stood across the table from Xiao Chen, his cold gaze sweeping over him for a moment before he lifted his robe and sat down.

"As far as I know, the Southern Jing delegation will not arrive in the capital for another two days. I wonder why the Crown Prince of Southern Jing is here?"

Every word Qin Yi spoke seemed to carry immense power, his domineering aura sweeping across the land like a surging wave.

Looking at Xiao Chen, his handsome face was calm and composed, with a faint, serene smile at the corner of his mouth, and every part of him exuded an air of nobility.

He ignored Qin Yi, and instead casually folded the handkerchief that had wiped Nan Qianyue's lips, then put it into his wide sleeve.

"The Crown Prince of Nan Jing? Where is the Crown Prince of Nan Jing? I can't see him." Nan Qianyue pretended to look around, then blinked innocently.

"Miss Nan, how can you lie so blatantly?" the woman in red said, frowning.

"Yes, Miss Nan, who is that not the Crown Prince of Nan Jing next to you?" The woman in green felt a little sorry for the prince.

I was busy all day yesterday and didn't sleep a wink all night, but all I got in return was... sigh!

Ye Jian glanced at the two of them and said, "If Miss Nan said she didn't see it, then she didn't. You two are blind."

The woman in green opened her eyes and looked at him. "Then why are you here? Aren't you the little lapdog of the Crown Prince of Nan Jing?"

Ye Jian coldly replied, "Is it wrong for me to be ordered to protect Miss Nan?"

Qingyi was furious. She hadn't gotten the better of him last time, and she was determined to avenge herself by slashing him with a few holes!

Ye Jian seemed to have seen through his thoughts and casually uttered a few words, "Defeated opponent."

"Pfft..." Nan Qianyue couldn't help but laugh, but her laughter was shattered by Qin Yi's gaze.

She glanced at Qin Yi, but didn't dare to meet his gaze, just missing the fleeting sharpness in his eyes.

"Since the person in front of me is not the Crown Prince of Nan Jing, it shouldn't matter if he dies." Qin Yi's dark eyes were fixed on Xiao Chen, and the killing intent around him grew stronger.

As soon as he finished speaking, the guards standing around him drew their swords halfway out.
