Chapter 209 Imperial Garden

Although Xi Xizhi focuses on cultivating magic, subduing demons and monsters, as well as ascending to immortality, all require physical exertion. Without a healthy body, it is extremely difficult to overcome numerous difficulties.

Even though Xi Xizhi was dissatisfied, she understood that An Honghan was telling the truth, so she had no choice but to give up.

Thinking back to her performance in the cave two days ago, although she had spiritual power protecting her, she was no match for An Honghan, a mere mortal, when it came to saving people.

"It's best if you figure it out."

If one day spiritual power fails, physical strength will come into play.

An Honghan was also thinking of Xi Xizhi. He didn't want to imagine what would happen if something bad happened to her when the tribulation came.

I had only been sitting in the pavilion for a short while when a palace maid brought me several plates of delicious pastries.

Xi Xizhi looked up at Lin En. This must have been Lin En's order, because only he would be so meticulous.

All the pastries were Xi Xizhi's favorites, and after just one glance, she couldn't resist reaching out her little hand to take them.

After happily finishing one piece, Xi Xizhi was about to reach for the second when a girl's clear voice came from outside the pavilion, "Greetings, Your Majesty! I never expected to meet you while visiting the Imperial Garden today. Your Majesty, we haven't seen each other for many days. Yunyi has missed you very much."

Xi Xizhi slowly stopped speaking, raised her little head, and saw a group of princesses dressed in their finest attire walking over.

The girl walking at the very front was the most eye-catching, dressed in a delicate pink fairy dress, looking charming and adorable, surrounded by the princesses.

Xi Xizhi would never believe in such a chance encounter.

They must have heard that An Honghan had arrived at the Imperial Garden, which is why they rushed over without stopping.

Xi Xizhi had seen through the tricks these princesses used, so she pretended nothing was wrong and continued eating her pastries.

An Honghan glanced at them once before looking away.

"Why aren't you staying in your own palace? What are you doing wandering around?" An Honghan reached out, picked a grape, peeled it, and held it to Xi Xizhi's lips.

Xi Xizhi swallowed it whole, as was her habit. The sweet and sour taste suited her perfectly, and she chewed it a couple of times with relish.

This intimate gesture caught the attention of a group of princesses, who were filled with envy and jealousy, leaving everyone stunned.

Once upon a time, who could be so close to the Emperor...?

Not only did the most favored princess not receive this honor, but even the emperor's elder brother's concubines never had it...

Why does that child deserve the Emperor's favor and affection?

A glint of ruthlessness flashed in An Yunyi's eyes as she watched the intimate actions between the two, her fists clenching tightly within her sleeves.

She went to great lengths to win her brother's favor, but before she could enjoy it for long, a dwarf suddenly appeared.

What's most puzzling is that the seven or eight-year-old girl's identity is unknown, yet the emperor is willing to keep such a person by his side.

Looking back at her previous pet, the Phoenix Cloud Sable, An Yunyi was more accepting of that pet.

Even if a pet is pampered, it is still just an animal. How can it be compared to a human?

"Your Majesty, we are sisters with the closest blood ties. Since the weather is so fine today, we came out to get together, to admire the flowers and strengthen our bond."

That last sentence is the least credible.

In the palace, there is only self-interest; where is there any emotion...?

However, outwardly, no one would expose this lie.

Because of this lie, they can maintain their false facade.

"It seems you sisters have a very good relationship." Whether it was sarcasm or praise, An Honghan's words made everyone uncomfortable, yet no one dared to say anything.

Because the consequences of angering An Honghan were something none of them could bear.

"The Kingdom of Qiko presented several boxes of treasures a couple of days ago. I'll have Lynn take you there to see them later."

After peeling the last grape, An Honghan took the handkerchief Lin En handed him and wiped his hands.

His gaze never met that of the princesses, and although he spoke of bestowing rewards, little of it seemed genuine.

The more indifferent An Yunyi's expression was, the angrier she became.

Even though she had already defeated An Ruoyan, why couldn't she win her brother's heart compared to others?

My brother's attitude towards that Miss Xi just now was not like that!

Although the emperor didn't laugh at that time, his expression showed a hint of satisfaction, as if the other party's joy made him feel good too.

When the emperor turned to face them, his face was icy cold, devoid of any expression, and even showed obvious perfunctoriness.

Why is there such a large gap?

Deep down, she always believed that her brother's favor should rightfully belong to her, but Xi Xizhi's sudden appearance shattered this beautiful dream.

Everything went smoothly except for Xi Xizhi's appearance.

An Yunyi became increasingly jealous, but jealousy did not change her. She had come this far with great difficulty, and she could not afford to lose. She could only endure it.

If it weren't for that person's help, she wouldn't have been able to get to where she is today.

She had no way out... and she couldn't let him down.

"Thank you for your generous gift, Your Majesty." An Yunyi led the princesses in bowing and expressing their gratitude, each movement befitting a model lady.

An Honghan simply nodded casually, without glancing at her.

"Have you eaten enough?" An Honghan looked at Xi Xizhi sitting next to him and raised his hand to wipe the crumbs of pastry from the corner of her mouth.

Xi Xizhi patted her bulging belly and nodded, saying, "I'm very full."

The chubby chef really understood her tastes; every pastry he made was just what she wanted.

Ignoring everyone present, An Honghan took the handkerchief handed to him by the palace maid and wiped Xi Xizhi's mouth with it.

An Yunyi bit her lip tightly, watching her brother's slender fingers trace the corner of the girl's lips.

Everything that should have belonged to her was taken away by others without any effort. How could she be willing to accept that?

"Your Majesty and Miss Xi have such a good relationship." The praise seemed to carry a hidden meaning.

An Honghan's gaze turned cold instantly, and even Lin En, who was standing next to him, shivered.

He admitted that the Fourteenth Princess was indeed very clever; at least no one could trip up the Sixth Princess, but she did. However, in the palace, especially in front of An Honghan, she was not allowed to act wildly.

Lynn thought to himself, "I just hope the Fourteenth Princess has some self-awareness, otherwise everything I've worked so hard to achieve will eventually be lost."

An Honghan's gaze darkened for a moment, then quickly returned to its original expression. He handed the soiled handkerchief to Lin En before turning his gaze to the group of princesses as if bestowing a favor.

Her eyes held an undisguised warning: "I'm keeping you all, so just behave yourself and fulfill your duties as princesses. If you like to stir up trouble in the palace, I don't mind stripping you of your princess titles. It's getting late, and we've had enough of the flowers. We should go back now. You can continue to enjoy the flowers here."
