Chapter 7 What should we eat at the banquet?

An Honghan walked inside step by step.

The dragon robe embroidered with gold thread shone even brighter under the surrounding lights. The exquisite robe seemed to be covered with a thin layer of golden light, making An Honghan look naturally domineering.

His physique was imposing, his appearance dignified, and his presence commanded respect without a trace of authority.

As he stepped into the Flowing Cloud Palace, the noisy hall fell silent instantly. In the vast hall, only An Honghan's footsteps rang out loudly.

"Welcome, Your Majesty! Long live the Emperor! Long live the Emperor!" The ministers immediately knelt on both knees, their voices booming like bells, resounding throughout the palace. The lingering echoes continued to reverberate.

Xi Xizhi propped up her round body and peeked her little head out from An Honghan's arms. The ministers all around were kneeling respectfully with their heads bowed, and no one dared to raise their heads without An Honghan's order.

It wasn't until An Honghan ascended the ninth-tiered platform, flicked his wide sleeves, and sat on the dragon throne that his cold voice rang out again.

"My beloved subjects, please rise."

"Thank you, Your Majesty." The ministers gradually stood up.

An Honghan rested his left elbow on the golden dragon armrest. Although it was a casual gesture, his pure black eyes always gave people an invisible pressure.

"A seat is offered." These two simple words are both concise and authoritative.

The court officials took their assigned seats, their backs ramrod straight. Beside them, palace maids in light green curved skirts poured wine for each official, carrying white jade bottles.

Xi Xizhi was placed on An Honghan's lap, and the tuft of red fur on the center of her forehead gradually began to shimmer as night fell. The faint red light twinkled like stars in the night sky, sometimes bright, sometimes dim. This special tuft of fiery fur was a unique characteristic of the Phoenix Cloud Sable.

Although Xi Xizhi couldn't see her forehead, she could feel its temperature, which was much higher than the rest of her body.

The key point is that a continuous stream of spiritual energy seems to whirl into the mark on the forehead!

Oh my god!

Are all members of the Phoenix Cloud Sable clan promising cultivators?!

Is this what they call extraordinary talent?!

An Honghan stared intently at the little sable's forehead as if he had discovered a new continent, and reached out to touch it.

When An Honghan's fingers touched that tuft of hair, Xi Xizhi felt as if she had been electrocuted, her body tingling and almost unable to stand.

It let out a very resentful "squeak".

Are we not allowed to touch this area?

This was the first thought that popped into Xi Xizhi's mind.

But during the day, when An Honghan stroked that tuft of fur, nothing seemed amiss. Therefore, the only conclusion that can be drawn is that once that tuft of fur becomes shiny, it should not be touched lightly.

Xi Xizhi tilted her head to the side, dodging the large hand.

It's chirping...

It seemed to be shouting, "Don't touch there!"

An Honghan's eyes flashed with interest. The more he was forbidden to touch it, the more curious he became. He grabbed the little ferret's two front legs and ran his fingers over the tuft of fur.

Xi Xizhi's eyes widened in disbelief!

How could this person be so awful?!

Struggling desperately.

But in the end, he still couldn't escape that outstretched hand.

The flame-like fur was gently stroked, and a tiny electric current seemed to emanate from it, flowing throughout Xi Xizhi's entire body. Soon after, Xi Xizhi's whole body went numb, and she collapsed weakly onto An Honghan's lap.

What exactly happened?

Xi Xizhi was filled with doubts.

She was far more ignorant of the habits of the Phoenix Cloud Sable than the people of this dynasty. She was also completely baffled by the changes in her own body.

Compared to Xi Xizhi's reaction, An Honghan was much calmer. Apart from his eyes flashing a few times, he made no other moves.

So that's how it is? An Honghan stared intently at the little sable, a smile that defied comprehension spreading across his face.

The man and the beast on the golden dragon throne were having a great time. Poor ministers below, they sat upright, waiting for His Majesty to announce the start of the banquet.

All the ministers exchanged knowing glances with Lin En, signaling him to quickly remind His Majesty, otherwise they didn't know how long His Majesty would leave them hanging.

Unable to bear the gazes of the ministers, Lynn braced himself and took two steps forward, whispering a reminder from the side: "Your Majesty, shall we serve the meal?"

Withdrawing his hand from teasing the little sable and instead stroking its fur, An Honghan said, "Summon it." Just after saying that, An Honghan added, "The recent meals have been quite delicious. Summon the imperial chef and let him show off his skills in front of all the officials."

Xi Xizhi's soft ears twitched twice, and she gritted her teeth in resentment. She hadn't been wrong after all; An Honghan really intended to skin her alive in public and then cook her alive?

She felt both grief and indignation, and utter helplessness. Grief and indignation because her brief rebirth had come to an end, and helplessness because she had no room to resist. Xi Xizhi raised her fluffy head, revealing a pair of bright, azure eyes with narrow pupils typical of animals.

As soon as An Honghan finished giving his instructions, Lin En hurriedly went to carry out his business.

When the imperial chef heard that His Majesty wanted to see him and praised his cooking, he followed the eunuch into the main hall with a big smile.

In the center of the main hall, a table had been set up. On it was a simple stove, but pots, pans, and other utensils were all provided.

As the young eunuch left, he whispered one more thing: "To gain His Majesty's favor is a blessing from your ancestors. Seize this opportunity, and wealth and glory will await you."

The imperial chef nodded with immense gratitude.

Since this banquet was specially held to entertain the envoy from Jiu Kingdom, An Honghan did not forget the main character and said, "Although Jiu Kingdom is rich and prosperous, it is still slightly inferior to Fengze Kingdom in terms of food. Since the envoy has come to my Fengze Kingdom, I should also do my best to be a good host. Why don't we first taste the delicious food of Fengze Kingdom?"

The cuisine of Fengze Kingdom is the most famous among all the kingdoms. Many people from other countries who visit Fengze Kingdom cannot help but praise its delicious food. Many people even become so enamored with Fengze Kingdom's dishes that they often spend a lot of money to invite Fengze Kingdom's chefs back to their home countries.

The envoy had been in Fengze Kingdom for so long and had long wanted to taste its delicacies. He was flattered and overwhelmed when His Majesty offered to do so, saying, "Thank you for your hospitality, Your Majesty."

Xi Xizhi clung tightly to An Honghan's dragon robe with both paws, her tiny fingernails sticking out from her paw pads in nervousness. Because Xi Xizhi was still a young sable cub, her tiny fingernails posed no threat whatsoever. They couldn't even scratch human skin.

"Chirp chirp..." The little ferret chirped in a panic, its fur standing on end in fright.

An Honghan noticed the little ferret's bristling and couldn't help but want to tease it even more. An Honghan's temperament was far more than just wicked; he deliberately raised the little ferret and called out to the side, "Lin En, what do you think I should ask the imperial chef to make?"

Lynn turned around blankly. His Majesty was always a man of his own opinion, so why was he suddenly asking for his opinion? Seeing the trembling little ferret in His Majesty's arms, Lynn had already guessed why His Majesty had asked this question.

Xi Xizhi sighed inwardly, "As long as it's not deep-fried mink meat, steamed mink meat is fine, anything is fine!"
