The way a certain child ate must have drawn the disdain of many ministers and women, but because of the Emperor sitting next to her, no one dared to show it. They only glanced at her before looking away, as if they were already used to Xi Xizhi's unruly behavior.
"Now that Miss Xi has been in the palace for several months, why hasn't she made any progress in poetry, literature, etiquette, or manners?" The ministers all thought to themselves.
“Brother…” A clear, bell-like voice rang out.
An Honghan shifted half of his gaze from Xi Xizhi to her, his cold, clear eyes silently asking what was wrong.
When the other princesses saw their elder brother looking over, they all stood tall and smiled, trying their best to appear knowledgeable, gentle, and charming.
Unfortunately, An Honghan didn't even glance at them, and his gaze towards An Yunyi was filled with impatience.
An Yunyi noticed something in the other person's eyes, and her other hand, hidden in her sleeve, clenched slightly.
Although she was surrounded by an aura of glory, her brother's favor never extended to her! And the one who received her brother's favor was completely oblivious, spending her days eating and sleeping without ever doing anything worthwhile!
What is it about her that she doesn't compare to that person?!
The more she thought about it, the angrier she became. An Yunyi almost lost control of her emotions, digging her fingernails into her palms to bring herself back to her senses.
“Brother, I know your plans. Even if I am to be married off to the Kingdom of Huiying, I accept my fate.” An Yunyi’s voice choked with emotion, her eyes glistening with tears as if she were about to cry at any moment. “I don’t ask for anything else. If I can contribute to the diplomatic relations between our two countries, my life will have been worthwhile. But… before I leave, could I offer you a toast to express my gratitude for all the care you have given me over the years?”
An Yunyi's words were extremely touching.
Many of the ministers and women present were moved by these words and watched the commotion. Even Xi Xizhi was almost touched, wondering if she had wronged An Yunyi before...
She clearly didn't want to get married at first, and Xi Xizhi still remembers her reluctance clearly.
The drastic change was hard for Xi Xizhi to accept; she always felt that An Yunyi was harboring some kind of ulterior motive.
"Have you figured it out?" An Honghan asked only three words, his tone as cold and detached as a drop of water falling to the ground.
An Yunyi gritted her teeth and said, "I've thought it through. It's what I should do to contribute my meager strength to Fengze Kingdom."
As a princess of Fengze Kingdom, her life was destined to be beyond her control; the one in control was the man on the throne.
After hearing these words, An Honghan raised his wine glass to An Yunyi and drank it all in one gulp.
An Yunyi didn't dare to hesitate. She raised her wine glass and took a sip. Just then, she gave Wu Jianfeng two winks, signaling him to hurry up and get things done.
Wu Jianfeng, quick-witted, glanced around a few times and slowly disappeared into the darkness.
He moved very carefully, and most people's eyes were focused on An Honghan and An Yunyi, so they did not notice his gradually disappearing figure.
Only one person saw it, and that was Xi Xizhi, who was not far from Wu Jianfeng.
Xi Xizhi paused in her munching on a chicken leg, blinking in confusion... Why would Wu Jianfeng leave halfway through? She hadn't heard that An Honghan had assigned him any tasks!
Because of Wu Jianfeng's past misdeeds and the scene of him shooting his brother, Xi Xizhi was deeply impressed by him. Therefore, deep down, Xi Xizhi always kept a watchful eye on him.
Seeing him leave, I immediately sensed something was amiss.
Xi Xizhi was about to take a step to chase after him, but before she could take a step, An Honghan grabbed her arm.
Xi Xizhi yawned twice. "I...I'm sleepy. I want to go back to sleep."
His eyes were clear and bright, without a trace of drowsiness.
An Honghan didn't believe it, but based on his understanding, the child really didn't like social banquets. As usual, Xi Xizhi ate most of the dishes on the table. This person usually threw down his bowl after finishing his meal and ran back to Panlong Palace, so An Honghan didn't suspect anything.
"Lynn, follow her."
Xi Xizhi's eyebrows twitched, but she quickly calmed down. It was good to have Lin En with her; at least there was one more person to look after her, right? After all, although Wu Jianfeng was brave but reckless, he was definitely much stronger than her. With Lin En by her side, Xi Xizhi felt more confident.
She wanted to see what kind of tricks Wu Jianfeng had up his sleeve!
Xi Xi quickly followed in the direction where Wu Jianfeng disappeared, jogging alongside him.
Lin En obeyed An Honghan's orders and stayed close to Xi Xizhi. When they reached the first fork in the road, he saw Xi Xizhi running in another direction and shouted, "Little Ancestor, this is the way back to Panlong Palace!"
Xi Xizhi ignored him, because she realized that Wu Jianfeng's figure was running away and had disappeared!
"Uncle Steward, you go back first, I'll go back by myself later!"
It seems we can't count on the old, frail manager!
You still have to rely on yourself.
Seeing that she not only didn't stop but was running faster and faster, Lynn lifted her trousers and tried to catch up. However, due to her age, her arms and legs were not as responsive as she could, and even with all her might, she could barely keep up with Xi Xizhi.
The palace was a maze of paths. After traversing numerous narrow lanes, Xi Xizhi and her companions wandered into increasingly remote areas, until finally, they could no longer see a single person on the last stretch of the road.
Fortunately, when Xi Xizhi was a little mink, An Honghan forced her to memorize the palace map. Even though it took a lot of detours, Xi Xizhi was still able to clearly point out her location.
She couldn't help but think that An Honghan was indeed prescient! Otherwise, after Wu Jianfeng led the way in such a roundabout way, she wouldn't even be able to tell which way was which.
Poor Uncle Lynn, who was following behind, was panting heavily the whole way, but dared not stop to rest.
Seeing that the figure in front of him had finally stopped, Lynn could no longer care about anything else and leaned against the artificial hill next to him, panting heavily.
Because he was chasing after Xi Xizhi, and each time Xi Xizhi's figure almost disappeared from his sight, Lin En was unaware of what was happening ahead of Xi Xizhi. However, as astute as he was, he could guess that Xi Xizhi was definitely chasing after something.
After catching his breath a few times, he was still worried and took a step with legs that felt like they were filled with lead, moving closer to Xi Xizhi.
“Little…Little Ancestor, what…why are you chasing so closely?” Lynn would catch his breath after every few words. It was a bit cold, and his breath was steaming as he spoke.
Compared to Lynn's disheveled appearance, Xi Xizhi seemed much more relaxed.
This is probably related to An Honghan forcing her to run!
But no matter how you look at it, An Honghan was farsighted!
