Chapter 42 The Little Mink's Contract of Indenture

An Honghan was busy from morning till night, and under the scorching sun, he escorted the Empress Dowager to the imperial mausoleum for burial. He was covered in sticky sweat. As soon as he stepped into the Panlong Hall, he immediately ordered the palace maids to prepare a bath.

Xi Xizhi, the only person accompanying the child to the bath, was naturally among them.

Using a doggy paddle, Xi Xizhi happily splashed in the bathtub, creating ripples.

An Honghan sat back by the pool, his arms outstretched, watching the little one in the pool with a leisurely air.

Why do I like it more and more the more I look at it?

Suddenly remembering something, An Honghan beckoned and called out, "Come here."

The little ferret paused in its swimming motion, its wet little head turning towards An Honghan. Since An Honghan and it were the only two breathing creatures here, it must be calling for itself. Seeing An Honghan's exposed pectoral muscles, Xi Xizhi swallowed hard; the visual impact was considerable.

"You're drooling." An Honghan grinned, his tone full of teasing.

Xi Xizhi quickly raised its paw to wipe its mouth, but it took a while to realize that half of its body was submerged in water. Even if it was drooling, would An Honghan be able to see it? Having been tricked by a certain cunning emperor again, Xi Xizhi was so angry that it kept snorting.

Not daring to disobey An Honghan's wishes, Xi Xizhi used all four legs to paddle and swam to him in a flash.

An Honghan grabbed its front legs, flipped the little ferret over onto its back, and ran his fingers over its belly as if searching for something.

Xi Xizhi's entire body was soaking wet, revealing her pink skin. With An Honghan's fingers constantly caressing her, her body immediately went numb. She struggled restlessly, trying to escape An Honghan's grasp.

An Honghan saw through its intentions and slapped its little bottom. "What are you shy about? I've already touched every inch of your body."

Although it was the truth, it still made Xi Xizhi feel embarrassed. After all, she was a person in her previous life, and a woman at that!

After observing for a while, An Honghan pinched the small bump on the little mink's belly, took another look at its features, and calmly said, "So it's a female."

Xi Xizhi was so angry she almost vomited blood. If it wasn't female, could it be male? It had been in the palace for over ten days, and only now had the wise and decisive Emperor discovered this? The tingling sensation tormented Xi Xizhi, making her struggle even more fiercely.

She bared her teeth and yelled at An Honghan, "Let go! What are you doing pinching her little breasts? There's a limit to taking advantage of someone! If you take all the advantages, how will she ever get married?"

The more the ferret reacted, the more out of control An Honghan's wicked behavior became, counting its little tails one after another. He only stopped after counting to eight.

As if relieved, Xi Xizhi swam to the other side of the pool as if she were a snake, several meters away from An Honghan.

Like a frightened rabbit, Xi Xizhi's eyes were red, fearing that An Honghan would grab her again.

An Honghan stared at it with interest. "Last time you were injured, I personally applied the ointment for you. Besides, I am your master. Surely I can touch you?"

Xi Xizhi continued to grin and grimace, once again deeply realizing that pets have no animal rights!

After taking a bath and drying her fur, Xi Xizhi still looked like she didn't want to talk to anyone. She jumped into the soft, golden tent and lay in bed sulking.

An Honghan turned to look at it, and it immediately closed its eyes.

Who would have dared to show any disrespect to An Honghan before? To his dismay, he couldn't sense any anger at all.

Walking to the desk, An Honghan sat down, picked up a brush, and began to draw strokes on the rice paper. The ink was jet black, and his handwriting, like himself, was arrogant and domineering.

After waiting for a long time without An Honghan going to bed, Xi Xizhi secretly opened her eyes and saw that An Honghan was still writing something so late.

He rarely deals with government affairs in the evenings. Could it be that there are some thorny issues recently? Xi Xizhi blinked, but finally couldn't resist her curiosity. She tiptoed to the desk and lingered as she moved toward An Honghan.

An Honghan had already noticed it. After writing the last word, he looked at the little sable and said, "You've come at the right time. This is your indenture. Sign it and put your fingerprint on it."

Um? ! ! !

Countless exclamation marks appeared in Xi Xizhi's mind, the words 'contract of servitude' weighing heavily on her.

An Honghan gave a faint smile and picked up the little sable and placed it on the desk. "I provide you with food and lodging, and I also order so many palace maids and eunuchs to serve you every day. Do you not want to contribute anything? There's no such thing as a free lunch."

No pain, no gain. The next sentence automatically popped into Xi Xizhi's mind, and she stared blankly up at An Honghan.

He cursed under his breath: This man really can't stand to suffer even the slightest loss!

Xi Xizhi was even angrier, and glared at him with her round eyes.

An Honghan remained unmoved. Only by signing this indenture could he keep the ferret by his side. If it ever disappeared, he would have proof and a valid reason to bring it back.

"Since you can't write, I'll just use your paw print." An Honghan took out inkpad, placed it in front of the little ferret, raised his eyebrows, and gestured for it to sign quickly.

Xi Xizhi looked grief-stricken and hesitated to raise her paw.

An Honghan added fuel to the fire again, saying, "If you don't sign, I have no obligation to support you, and your life and death will be none of my concern."

Threat! This is a blatant threat!

Without An Honghan as her powerful backer, and given her current helpless state, going out would only mean certain death.

For the sake of her own life and her bright future, Xi Xizhi humiliatingly stretched out her claws and slammed them heavily onto the inkpad, covering her entire claws in crimson.

He moved the paper inch by inch onto the rice paper, and with a furious slap, he slammed it down on the lower right corner, leaving a clear, red, yet calm, claw mark.

An Honghan pulled out the Xuan paper with satisfaction and said, "Very good. From now on, you are my property. Remember your status."

Xi Xizhi gritted her teeth in anger. It's just a pet! How great can it be? At most, it'll just have two more words added to its name, making it a 'royal pet'!

An Honghan found a wooden box, carefully placed the indenture inside, and then turned and walked into the inner hall, presumably to hide the wooden box.

Xi Xizhi planned to go and take a look so that she could burn the indenture while An Honghan wasn't paying attention.

An Honghan seemed to know what it was thinking, and just as he was about to go in, he suddenly turned around and said, "Lin En, keep an eye on that mink."

Xi Xizhi stiffened for a moment, then sat down dejectedly on her desk. When An Honghan returned, his hands were empty.

He reached out and rubbed the little ferret's forehead; the tuft of shimmering, fiery red fur was particularly dazzling.

An Honghan picked it up and deliberately held its paws. "The ink is hard to wash off, Lin En, go and get a basin of hot water."
