In her previous life, her master taught her, but in this life... Xi Xizhi is simply following the same pattern as in her previous life, practicing again without any guidance from anyone.
Moreover, the glint in An Honghan's eyes always made Xi Xizhi feel uncomfortable.
Over time, the little sable remained silent.
"Won't tell me?" An Honghan took two steps forward, hating it most when the little sable kept secrets from him. If he hadn't been careful tonight, he didn't know when he would have discovered the little sable's secret cultivation.
Xi Xizhi didn't dare to go against An Honghan, so she pitifully whimpered twice.
An Honghan's anger gradually subsided, and he asked instead, "Where is that person?"
Although Xi Xizhi often made mistakes, she was actually quite clever. Hearing An Honghan's question, she immediately knew he was after her master. Unfortunately, by the time Xi Xizhi was thirteen, her master had already ascended to heaven, and Xi Xizhi didn't even know where to find him.
Tell An Honghan honestly. Xi Xizhi gestured with her claws, leaped up, and pointed to the sky. The sky was turning a pale white as a bright, round sun slowly climbed into the heavens.
An Honghan stared at the little sable in surprise. Some people cultivate their whole lives and still don't necessarily achieve enlightenment and ascend to heaven, but he never expected that the little sable's master would have such a great background. The only thing that made him feel regretful was that he couldn't meet the little sable's master.
He stared at the little sable, lost in thought. They say a great teacher produces a great student; if a master were to take the little sable as a disciple, its talent must be exceptional. He wondered how far it would progress in its cultivation. It wasn't that he wanted to use the little sable; he was simply curious.
Xi Xizhi absorbed spiritual energy for an entire night, but her spiritual power only recovered to about 30%. However, the only fortunate thing was that the spiritual power within Xi Xizhi's body was more solid and durable than before, and the density of her spiritual power had increased by another level.
No wonder people say that you can't have everything. In order to save the Right Chancellor's grandson, she lost her spiritual energy, but gained a more stable foundation in return.
Xi Xizhi was exhausted and all she wanted to do was sleep. She yawned twice, her eyes becoming blurry.
An Honghan, however, was wide awake, overwhelmed by a host of questions. Few things could leave him so puzzled. Perhaps he should ask that person to find out what Little Mink really was.
"Back to Panlong Palace." An Honghan's anger vanished instantly. He bent down, picked up the little sable, and covered it with his wide sleeves.
Xi Xizhi was stunned for a while, blinked several times, and only after confirming that there was no anger on An Honghan's face did she peacefully lie down in his arms and fall asleep.
What an unfathomable man...
One moment he's burning with rage, the next he's acting like nothing's wrong.
After yawning several times, Xi Xizhi leaned on An Honghan's arm and fell asleep completely.
An Honghan hurriedly returned to Panlong Palace to change his clothes before rushing to the morning court session. He used to stay up all night, so he didn't feel unwell even after a whole night without sleep. Sitting on the dragon throne, he still exuded an aura of dominance, intimidating the entire audience.
Apart from the flood in Fengzhou, there were no major incidents among the common people. An Honghan instructed each department to do its job well and then said "Dismiss the court" with little interest.
As soon as he stepped into the Imperial Study with the little sable in his arms, An Honghan immediately ordered, "Lin En, summon Imperial Physician Xu into the hall."
Lynn, who was half-bowed, heard the voice and reflexively replied, "Yes, sir."
After a long while, Lynn slowly raised his head and stared at the little sable with a puzzled look. The little sable wasn't injured, so why was Physician Xu summoned?
Not daring to say or ask any more questions, Lynn suppressed his doubts and rushed out of the Imperial Study.
An Honghan didn't sit idle. As soon as he entered the main hall, he went behind his desk, picked up his pen, and began to review memorials.
The palace maids and eunuchs serving in the imperial study did not dare to make a sound, and even walked on tiptoe, for fear of disturbing His Majesty's handling of state affairs.
An Honghan, however, was still distracted, glancing frequently at the sleeping little sable. Lost in thought, he held his pen but didn't write a single word.
A series of footsteps approached from afar.
The white-bearded old man walked at the front. Upon seeing An Honghan, he bowed and said, "Greetings, Your Majesty. May I ask what important matter Your Majesty has summoned me for?"
Old Xu was very polite and stroked his white beard.
An Honghan put down his brush, frowned, and ordered, "All eunuchs and palace maids, please leave the Imperial Study. I have something to discuss with Physician Xu."
Lin En felt that His Majesty was acting strangely today. He gave Physician Xu a strange look, waved to the crowd, and took the lead in walking out of the Imperial Study.
The doors closed one by one, and the vast imperial study was so quiet you could hear a pin drop.
An Honghan stroked the little ferret's fur with his fingers, his movements incredibly gentle, as if he were worried about accidentally disturbing the little ferret's sweet dreams.
Old Xu looked at all this and smiled mysteriously, "It seems His Majesty already knows about this matter."
His tone was very confident. Every word and sentence was concise and to the point.
An Honghan raised an eyebrow, his anger rising without a hint of authority. His sharp eyes swept over the old man, and he said in a deep voice, "Since you knew all along, why didn't you tell me? If I hadn't discovered it by chance, this secret would have been buried for who knows how long."
An Honghan spoke softly, or rather, he deliberately lowered his voice for fear of waking the little ferret in his arms. But the icy chill in his words was still clearly felt.
The old man showed no fear, remaining calm and composed, a kind smile on his lips. "The secrets of heaven cannot be revealed. How could I dare to defy the will of heaven? Besides, even if I did tell, what then? Would His Majesty harden his heart and drive away that weasel just because it's cultivating immortality?"
Old Xu wasn't blind; he had witnessed the Emperor's doting affection for Little Sable during his two months in the palace.
How could a chubby little ferret win the favor of the Emperor of Fengze Kingdom? Even the Imperial Concubine lacks such good fortune, yet this little ferret has received such affection. Has the world changed? Are a group of beautiful women no match for a fluffy pet ferret?
An Honghan was already showing a hint of anger, staring into the old man's eyes as if flames could burst forth.
"So what if you cultivate immortality? Once it's mine, it won't escape my grasp. Use your abilities to tell me... where did this little sable come from?" His calm, expressionless words carried a chilling coldness.
"I'm sorry, I have no comment. This is how fate has arranged things; it's best for us to go with the flow." Old Xu shook his head calmly, not uttering a word about the matter.
An Honghan narrowed his eyes coldly, "Aren't you afraid I'll kill you?"
With those words, a murderous aura filled the air.
