Breakthrough
Compared to Tang Ke's astonishment, Shi Youchen seemed particularly calm.
If Tang Ke's open disclosure and grievances in front of the two could be explained by a weak psychological defense, then the words spoken by the young boss of MIST, who was also meeting them for the first time after a series of socially awkward behaviors tonight, were truly shocking and pushed the situation into an awkward situation.
But this behavior made Shi Youchen feel that this was something he could do. It was strangely similar to riding a bicycle with an oxygen tank on the seabed, which was both reasonable and absurd.
"So I'm really not targeting or discriminating against anything. I'm just making a guess based on reality." He raised his sunglasses, closed his eyes, and pressed his eye sockets alternately with the base of his palms. His tone was a little muffled. "If I offended you, I apologize."
Tang Ke couldn't immediately recover from the rapid shift in emotions. In just one hour, she went from excitement to anxiety, then from anxiety to fear, then panic and fear, then relaxation and calm, shy joy, and finally shame and anger.
Even at this moment she still felt her face burning hot.
But emotions were exhausting, and after all, she was just an immature high school student. At this point, she had no extra energy to argue, not to mention that the other party had just helped her not long ago.
So after a brief silence, Tang Ke wiped her sore eyes and said in a slightly hoarse voice: "No need, Mr. Shi, please help my mother check." She forced a smile at Shi Youchen and walked towards the half-open door.
......
Shi Youchen followed Tang Ke quietly into the bedroom. The room was clean and tidy, but it was also easy to see that some of the furnishings looked a little old. A lamp was on in the wooden cabinet beside the bed, and the warm yellow light softly spread over the corner of the bed, making the face of the sleeping person vaguely visible.
Tang Ke explained softly: "My mother is prone to nightmares when she sleeps without the lights on. She has gotten used to it over the years." Looking at her mother's face, her voice was tinged with a hint of tenderness that she herself was not aware of.
Shi Youchen nodded, pulled a wet wipe from his pocket, wiped his hands, and walked over. He first extended his finger to feel the woman's breathing rate, finding that her breathing was short, heavy, and erratic, and the heat she exhaled was not as hot as usual. Even a layman in medicine could tell that this was not a healthy physiological state.
So he used his two fingers to feel the pulse in a serious manner. In Tang Ke's eyes, it looked quite serious, but in fact he was mobilizing the energy in his body to test the truth.
Tang Ke watched Shi Youchen's actions nervously. She didn't actually hold out much hope, because Mr. Shi looked too young. If he was a Chinese medicine doctor, it would usually take years of experience to be able to make a detailed and thorough diagnosis. But she had no right to question him.
At this moment, on the one hand, she wanted to get closer to see what was going on, but on the other hand, she was afraid that her movements would disturb Shi Youchen who was closing his eyes to take his pulse. She was suddenly caught in a dilemma and just froze in place.
Meanwhile, Shi Youchen became more and more shocked the more he investigated.
He could actually sense the condition of organs and meridians through the energy being channeled in. He discovered that the woman's liver, lungs, and heart all had varying degrees of burning sensations, as well as some strange tremors, with the liver's reaction being the most pronounced.
Even though he couldn't see it clearly with the naked eye, the energy transmitted back told him a lot of information.
Shi Youchen frowned slightly and released the woman's wrist. He looked at Tang Ke with a complicated look: "Does your mother have any external injuries?" Tang Ke subconsciously answered immediately: "Yes, her right knee was scraped a while ago, and there are also scrapes on her left forearm."
"Could you please roll up her sleeves so I can check the wound?"
Tang Ke nodded quickly and stepped forward, gently lifting the quilt and blanket, and carefully rolling up her long sleeves and trousers. Just as Shi Youchen was still wondering why the woman, whose physical condition was obviously so poor, could remain unconscious, he saw the large maroon wound on her.
It does look like an abrasion, and some of the more obvious areas have formed dark brown scabs.
Shi Youchen turned sideways, blocking part of Tang Ke's sight, so the latter did not notice Shi Youchen extending his hand to cover the wound.
Treating external injuries was a piece of cake for Shi Youchen, and he knew exactly how to control the extent of the wound. After healing the woman's inner wound while preserving the surface marks, just as he was about to withdraw his hand, a trace of energy from the woman's body returned, bringing Shi Youchen a message:
The burning sensation in the organs has decreased, and the frequency of strange tremor reactions is not as high.
Shi Youchen immediately realized something: "My ability can actually heal internal injuries." This important change made him inexplicably excited, so much so that he didn't notice that the woman on the bed slowly opened her eyes.
The bar owner, who had been having an awkward moment with Tang Ke, was standing in front of the photo Shi Youchen had observed earlier when he suddenly heard a loud noise coming from the bedroom. It sounded like a scream and something heavy falling. He rushed in quickly and saw Tang Ke holding a woman's hand and whispering something. Shi Youchen stood to the side, his face tilted to the side, his expression unclear.
"What's wrong?" he asked anxiously.
"It's nothing, let's go out first and give them some time." Shi Youchen's voice was light, and he walked over, grabbed the person's sleeve and led him out of the bedroom.
The man glanced back at the mother and daughter in confusion. When he turned back again, he was startled by the blood slowly trickling down Shi Youchen's forehead. "What's wrong with you? Did you disfigure yourself while getting a doctor?!"
Shi Youchen glanced at him sideways, wiped the blood with a piece of paper and said, "I scared her." Just now, he was distracted by the change in his ability and did not notice that the woman opened her eyes, so naturally he could not avoid the things she threw at him out of fright.
But it's not her fault. After all, who can remain calm when they open their eyes and see a strange man standing at the head of their bed?
"I haven't done anything wrong. Just let her calm down."
A moment later, the bedroom door slowly opened, and Tang Ke and her daughter walked out. The woman seemed to regain consciousness and rushed over to grab Shi Youchen's hand, but Shi Youchen dodged her by standing up to pour tea. Thinking he was angry because he was hurt, the woman started to kneel, but was stopped by Tang Ke and Shi Youchen, one in front and one behind.
"Mom, what are you doing?" "We can talk it over." The two voices sounded at the same time.
The woman finally calmed down a bit. She sat down awkwardly and apologized to Shi Youchen first: "I'm really sorry. I didn't think before I acted and hurt you."
Her address and humble attitude made Shi Youchen feel at a loss. Tang Ke explained, "I've already told her what happened tonight. I'm so sorry, Mr. Shi."
The woman gritted her teeth and said, "Thank you, gentlemen, for saving my daughter. Is there anything I can do for you?" Shi Youchen looked at the woman's face, which looked 70% similar to Jiang E after she opened her eyes, and felt a surge of anger in his heart because of her obvious flattery.
The bar owner was used to such flattering words, "It's okay, we saved her not for any reward from you." Shi Youchen lowered his eyes and handed the woman a glass of water to show that he held the same point of view.
After a conversation, the woman's eyes reddened as she said, "I saved some money with the help of a noble man a few years ago, and I bought this house early on as he advised. But I was young and naive at that time, and couldn't tell the difference between good and evil in people's hearts. As a result, I married a scumbag in a daze, and he cheated me out of a lot of things." When she said this, she raised her hand to wipe away her tears. Seeing this, Tang Ke quickly handed her two pieces of paper.
Shi Youchen noticed that Tang Ke, the daughter, didn't show any anger or resentment towards her father when the woman said this. So he took a sip of tea and said, "Raising children is the common responsibility of both parents. If the other party hasn't fulfilled their obligations over the years, you can consider pursuing your rights through legal means."
The woman said, "You misunderstood. Xiao Ke is the child I adopted after my divorce. My first child with that man passed away almost 20 years ago..." She seemed afraid that Tang Ke would be unhappy and quickly waved her hand to explain, "Xiao Ke and I are living a good life now. I don't need anyone else. I'll be thankful if he doesn't bother me anymore."
After hearing this, Shi Youchen was almost certain that she was Jiang E's biological mother, it was just the gap between City A and City Z... However, he did not intend to tell her about this possibility. Firstly, he did not want to have any more involvement with the mother and daughter. Secondly, since both parties' lives were stable, he did not want to add variables as an outsider.
"It's good to think that way. Your health problems are probably due to overwork and your lack of care when you were young. You need to rest well." Shi Youchen glanced at the time on his bracelet and said to Tang Ke, "Also, I'm not familiar with the detailed policies in City A, but if you don't have a property, learning will probably be a big problem. So I personally don't recommend selling your house."
The woman was stunned for a moment, then heard the bar owner echo, "Don't go looking for some random person to work with. If you want to make some money, you can consider helping out in my shop."
Without waiting for Tang Ke to say anything, Shi Youchen stood up and said, "It's getting late, we won't bother you any longer." He walked straight out the door and gave the bar owner a look as he passed by.
...
The two of them went out and downstairs. "Your forehead needs some care. I'll give you a ride. It should be on my way," the bar owner said, pushing his sunglasses up with his middle finger. Shi Youchen touched the corner of his forehead where he had been broken. It had already healed, but it had been hidden by his hair and hidden from others.
"Thank you so much, just take me to the door of your store."
The two of them walked towards the cool purple sports car. Suddenly, the man said with a hint of sarcasm, "Actually, you offered to take her home together because you don't trust me and are afraid that I might harm that girl."
Shi Youchen didn't even pause. "You spent a lot of money on the car, and you're not averse to driving it. You even started without hesitation when the traffic light turned green."
"Actually, you don't have any eye disease at all, and your vision is normal."
The man chuckled softly upon hearing this, raised his hand to take off his sunglasses, and revealed a pair of gray pupils to Shi Youchen.
