ceremony
It was already very late at night, and the entire castle seemed to have fallen asleep. No sound could be heard from the outside world.
The church door at the top of the central tower opened, and Panthera, clad in a long robe, led the group in. "Go sit in the first row," she said, turning proudly to the burly man in his tiger form. "Guard the door and don't let anyone in." Then, swaying in her steps, she spun gracefully around the lectern, extending her arms to the three people seated obediently in the first row.
"Congratulations again on becoming the Chosen Ones. Before the ceremony officially begins, I will show you the power of God." She smiled seductively, her serpentine tail emerging from beneath her robes, swaying with her exaggerated hand movements. "They say humans are the most advanced creatures in the world, but this is the age of the supernatural. Even nature is no longer invincible before them."
The stained glass windows on the church walls suddenly lit up, and beneath the flowing light, Panthera's increasingly hazy voice could be heard: "The gods have granted us the qualification to transcend ranks. Only those who stand the last in a similar battle can possess the higher powers He has bestowed upon them. From now on, you will become leaders and rulers, and all those who have failed outside will be at your service."
"Together, we will become believers in the new world and gain eternal life under God's guidance." Panthera's lips cracked, and she spat out a piece of her snake tongue. Her golden pupils stared at the three of them. "Now, step forward, come here, and accept your new life."
At this moment, the door of the church suddenly opened, and the crisp sound of heels hitting the ground came from afar. Panthera looked at the visitor without surprise, and said with some anger: "You are a little late, Kuristan." The visitor was tall and slender, with black hair falling like a waterfall on his shoulders. He had a deep face, and at this moment he was looking at the half-beast Panthera with his eyes.
"The ceremony will be suspended." Curistan observed Panthera's distorted face with amusement. "Someone who shouldn't have been here has sneaked in. I'm taking them down for inspection." Panthera's eyes instantly darted fiercely at the three people still sitting quietly. She swung her hips twice and swam closer. She half-closed her eyes, sniffed deeply, and then cast a suspicious look at Curistan. "What do you mean?" The aura she sensed was identical to the one she'd sensed at the Colosseum.
"Someone from 'there' has sneaked in, and there's more than one. Lord Panthera, the patriarch has given you so much power, but you haven't done this for her." Kuristan leisurely took out a dagger from his sleeve, grasped the end with the black and gold carvings, and pulled out the dagger. The tip was shining with a hint of cold light.
The next moment, the dagger and the snake's tail swept towards the three people in the first row at the same time, but two of them dodged the attack, and the one who was stabbed and thrown against the wall was the black-haired boy.
"Shi Youchen!" Pei Chanbai didn't even glance at the twisted figure on the wall. Instead, he shouted at the door, "Go!" The burly man who had been guarding the door according to Panthera's orders suddenly rushed out and disappeared from the sight of Panthera and Kuristan in the blink of an eye.
The thin figure on the wall changed, and in a moment it became the strong figure who had just rushed out. However, the dagger stuck in his chest and his head twisted at a strange angle all indicated that this living life was gone.
The real Shi Youchen, with his tiger-like body, ran down, revealing his true form after sprinting into the holding cell on the underground floor. He roughly pulled out his key, opened the iron chain door, and shouted to the surging crowd inside, "Run!"
In an instant, the crowd surged out, and all the poor losers frantically sought a way to survive.
After the crowded crowd dispersed, two people walked out slowly and took their clothes leisurely. They said to Shi Youchen, who looked puzzled, "Thank you for your hard work. Leave the rest to us." They were actually the two men in the previous trio who fell to the ground exhausted during the brawl in the Colosseum.
Shi Youchen didn't have time to think further before one of them grabbed his wrist and started running. "Mr. Pei will explain everything to you once we're out. Now let's get out of here." When the three of them reached the ground, they saw the taller man suddenly close his eyes and mutter something. A pattern gradually appeared on his forehead, but it was too dim to make out clearly.
Then, a commotion erupted inside and outside the castle. The roars of birds and beasts rose and fell, filling Shi Youchen's ears like an earthquake. The person next to him glanced around briefly, then cast his gaze towards the highest point of the tower. "Leave this castle now! Run as far away as possible." With that, the two of them turned and returned to the main tower.
Shi Youchen stood alone in the darkness, thinking of Pei Chanbai's previous actions, and for some reason, he felt a sense of loss. "So you already knew this."
The battle inside the church was raging. Pei Chanbai flipped the table, blocking Panthera's incoming tail attack. He quickly glanced at the two men engaged in close combat not far away, ducked and rolled sideways to the back of another row of seats, and shouted in that direction, "Get me to the wall!"
Panthera didn't react at all before Pei Chanbai disappeared from her sight. Glancing around, she finally spotted the white-haired figure beside the limp corpse against the wall. He was crouching down, forcing out the dagger. With a flick of his wrist, the remaining blood, still lingering, dotted the wall.
Pei Chanbai glanced at the blood on the dagger with a hint of disgust, twisted his hand, tightened his grip on the hilt, and rushed forward. Panthera, seeing him wield a sharp weapon, instinctively flinched for a moment, swishing her tail and dodging to the side. However, Pei Chanbai didn't charge directly at her. Instead, he rushed directly to the lectern, grabbing the burning candle on it with his free hand.
Under Panthera's surprised and frightened eyes, Pei Chanbai clasped his hands together, and the dagger and candle merged into a sharp sword with flames all over it.
Elsewhere, the two engaged in close combat, testing each other's moves. Kuristan's hair gradually became disheveled, his mood growing increasingly sour. He didn't even bother pretending, and without even a glance at Panthera, he withdrew and ran away. The man who had just withdrawn his fist was stunned, speechless and amused by Panthera's act of running away.
"Where are you running!" a voice shouted, and the fleeing Kuristan froze in an instant. He continued swinging his arms, feeling the air squeeze him from all sides, his face gradually turning pale. The man waved his hands and leisurely walked over to Kuristan, who had stopped by the door. He raised an eyebrow and said, "You're lucky to be the first to experience this new ability of mine."
He stretched out his hand, spread his fingers, and clasped them around Kuristan's throat. He tightened his grip slightly and said, "I'll give you a chance to confess while you're still alive. Tell me who you are and who's behind this." Kuristan's face turned from pale to red and then to blue. He looked at the man in front of him, strangling his lifeblood, with a painful expression. Unafraid of death, he pulled the corners of his mouth together and uttered a few words in a hoarse, broken voice, "Where do you think...this...is..."
As soon as he finished speaking, he suddenly raised his leg and kicked the man in the chest. After being dodged, he continued to run out without stopping. As he ran out and approached the corridor window, he blew a sharp whistle. Then, under the man's incredulous gaze, he coughed and jumped onto the back of the golden eagle outside the window. Before being carried away, he left behind a contemptuous "Try to lock me again if you have the guts."
The man at the door had already tried to use his power to lock onto Kuristan, but just as he'd said, he hadn't succeeded. After a brief moment of reflection, he returned to the church with a gloomy face, only to find that the fight between the two men was still going on.
"Pei Chanbai!" He shouted angrily, and Pei Chanbai, who was quickly dodging on the other side, understood what he meant. He stopped and gripped the hilt of the sword with both hands, exerting all his strength upwards.
Panthera's vision was already blurred by Pei Chanbai's agility, and she only kept up with the opponent's attack by relying on her thermal reaction. The next second after the shout that she could not understand, the enemy who was originally unclear appeared in front of her face, very close.
"Ah?" She tried to utter a sound but failed. The sword stuck across her throat brought the scorching flames to her entire upper body.
Pei Chanbai dodged and thrust the sword into Panthera's neck, then he kicked her shoulders with both feet, turned over and jumped to the man who was walking over, and said with a slightly heavy breath, "Where's that man?" "He ran away, my ability failed." He said in a very unhappy tone.
"Oh." He didn't say much. In their vision, Panthera's burning upper body straightened, its serpentine tail flicking feebly as it desperately crawled toward the door. This silent, crawling half-beast looked doomed to death to anyone, let alone two psychics.
So they just watched her slowly crawl out the door, and watched her blood-red arms with peeling skin stretched out to the window, as if she wanted to call for the golden eagle to save her like Kuristan did.
Panthera's body was pierced by excruciating pain, as if her bones were shattering. Her breathing became searing and short. Her carefully maintained long curly hair had been burned, and a foul odor permeated the air. However, her five senses were gradually fading, and she could hardly smell it.
She reached out the window, hoping the lowly servants outside would see her. But in her remaining blurry vision, dozens of bird slaves flew past, all heading east, not one looking back. The castle began to shake, the walls cracking and squeezing. Panthera endured the excruciating pain and pried open her eyelids, looking up.
There was a silvery-white crack across the dark horizon.
"Ah..." The tears that burst out of her eyes evaporated in an instant, and she stared at the distant sky in despair.
So Kuristan ran away like that, so no one came to help me, so I didn't receive any new instructions.
turn out to be...
It turns out that you gave up on me.
elder sister...
The two people on the side watched as Panthera finally escaped to the window and called for help, but somehow, the next moment, the burning body suddenly leaped and jumped out of the highest window.
"Ah?" Pei Chanbai leaned over to take a look, not knowing what was going on. He saw that the flame turned into ashes and was blown away by the wind before falling to the ground.
"Why did she suddenly commit suicide?" Pei Chanbai tilted his head and asked the man who was staring at the night sky with a frown, "Ying Yungui?"
