Outliers
When Shi Youchen and Ying Yungui returned to the camp, Luo Zhao and Li Sen had already woken up and were preparing breakfast together.
Against the backdrop of Li Sen's busy figure, Luo Zhao standing beside him looked very dull.
Jiang Yu was forced by Luo Zhao to go into the tent to catch up on his sleep. Shi Youchen was not there. Li Sen and Luo Zhao did not speak the same language and could only communicate through body movements, but the two were still talking and laughing.
Seeing Shi Youchen coming back, Li Sen stuffed the soup spoon into Luo Zhao's hand and trotted into Shi Youchen's arms.
"Brother, brother." The childish voice spoke the language of District 8 unskillfully. Then she raised her head, looked at Shi Youchen with those strange eyes, and repeated firmly, "Brother!"
Luo Zhao walked over and said with a smile: "She has been saying this since she woke up. At first she didn't speak it standardly, so I had to correct her pronunciation."
Shi Youchen's eyebrows were stained with a smile: "I think she learned it after I said it a few times in front of her yesterday."
"Kirimori is amazing."
Ying Yungui thought that little brats were great, they would be praised even if they were called brother.
Shi Youchen remembered the original plan and said to Luo Zhao, "There's something I want to ask you and Jiang Yu."
He looked at Li Sen who was holding onto the corner of his clothes and continued, "Send Li Sen down the mountain and back to her home in town."
Shi Youchen didn't turn on the translator, but Li Sen suddenly hugged his waist tightly, refusing to let go no matter what. She lowered her head and moaned softly, as if she was very reluctant.
In desperation, Shi Youchen had to use the translator to ask her, "What's wrong? Don't you want to go home?"
Li Sen didn't say anything, just kept shaking his head vigorously.
Seeing this, Luo Zhao said, "Why don't we just let her come with us? Can't we take care of one child with so many of us?"
Ying Yungui: "Do you know where we are going?" He stretched out his index finger and poked Li Sen's forehead, "We are going to sell you to Xueshan!"
He originally thought that this little brat was stupid and mentally retarded, and must be easy to deceive. Unexpectedly, when he heard his words, Li Sen actually laughed.
The three of them didn't understand what was going on, so they could only watch her and laugh. After a while, she finally tired of laughing, rubbed her eyes with the back of her hand and said something. When translated, the three of them heard: "I'm not afraid. Xueshan said you are good people."
Shi Youchen laughed: "Can you still hear the snow mountain talking?" He reached out and rubbed Li Sen's little head, thinking she was joking. Li Sen said seriously: "Yeah!"
Luo Zhao laughed even more happily.
At this time, Jiang Yu walked out of the tent and saw three adults and one child gathered together. He glanced to the side and reminded them: "Breakfast is about to erupt like a volcano." When they looked back, they saw that the lid of the pot was lifted up and bubbles were coming out.
Breakfast began in a chaotic state. I don't know what was added to the porridge, but it looked ordinary but tasted delicious. Under Luo Zhao's praise, Li Sen's eyes sparkled, and the freckles on his face became more vivid.
After some rest and discussion, they decided to continue climbing with Li Sen and then send her home together after the end.
Li Sen was always bouncing along, often dragging a few people along along bizarre paths. Thanks to her, the group passed by strangely shaped trees, streams rumbling over rocks, and all kinds of natural creatures.
With Li Sen by their side, the mountain climbing journey didn't seem so arduous and boring. Even Luo Zhao never complained of being tired.
Finally, after climbing over countless mountains, the group saw the snow-capped mountain tops in front of them, which were connected with the clouds. The mountains were covered with snow, illuminating the southern sky.
Ying Yungui immediately looked at Shi Youchen's expression. There was no emotion on that face. If it weren't for the mist emitted from his breath and the flush on his cheeks, he would have suspected that Shi Youchen had just woken up.
The group had been so engrossed in the mountaintop and the scenery along the way that they hadn't stopped to light a fire or cook, simply munching on some dry food. Now that their goal had been achieved, their stomachs were rumbling. So, after some arrangements, Ying Yungui, under Luo Zhao's "he's seen a ghost" look, offered to take charge of the cooking, declaring he was going to treat everyone to a good meal.
Shi Youchen finally remembered that he needed to ask Yan Zhiyuan something, so he stepped aside to send a message. He opened his friend list, but there were only a few friends, not even enough to fill the first page. The gray-framed "No. 8461 Lu Quezhi" in the middle was particularly eye-catching.
His gaze stayed there for only two seconds before he opened the dialog box with Yan Zhiyuan.
"What is the name of the shopping mall in District 10 where a vicious assault occurred last month?" After editing, he clicked send. The progress bar took a long time to read, and Shi Youchen stared at it boredly.
Suddenly, he heard a faint sound, like a drop of rain hitting a calm lake, ethereal and distant. Somehow, he couldn't help but look up and see the snow-capped mountains looking back at him.
He seemed to be in a trance, and left alone after saying "I'll go over there and take a look."
Ying Yungui was thinking about providing some nutrition for Shi Youchen and the child. He looked at the poor ingredients and fell into deep thought. Just as he was about to start, Li Sen ran over in a panic and pulled his arm, babbling.
"I don't have time to play with you now, go find..." He was halfway through his words when he saw Li Sen pointing in the direction of the snow-capped mountains and saying, "Brother! Brother!"
Ying Yungui looked around but didn't see Shi Youchen, so he turned to ask Luo Zhao, "Where's Shi Youchen?"
Luo Zhao was taking a photo with Jiang Yu, but was stunned by the question: "I don't know. He seemed to be saying he wanted to go somewhere."
Li Sen kept pulling Ying Yungui's sleeve and dragging him in the direction he had just pointed.
She looked so anxious and scared that she even forgot to speak.
Ying Yungui patted the little hands and said, "You stay here, I'll go find him."
He walked and searched, but there was no sign of anyone nearby. Li Sen's inexplicable anxiety made him feel uneasy, so he ran through the mountains without paying attention to the oxygen concentration.
...
When Shi Youchen regained consciousness, he felt as if he was suspended in mid-air, and a pulling pain came from his right arm.
His gaze was directed downwards, and beneath his feet was an abyss with no bottom in sight.
"Look up, don't look down." A voice came from above his head. He closed his eyes and raised his head. When he opened his eyes again, Ying Yungui was holding his shoulders with both hands and standing firmly on the ground.
Ying Yungui's breathing was rapid. He had searched the mountains for a long time, but couldn't see anyone. In desperation, he used his telekinesis to levitate himself. With his vision cleared, he finally saw a figure at the edge of the cliff. Surprisingly, the figure was walking straight out.
He could have called the person back with just a flick of his finger, but the scene before him made him lose consciousness for a short time. His instinct made him fall to the edge of the cliff in an instant and reach out to grab the person who was about to fall.
Only after he clenched the hand did he come to his senses, and fearfully used his ability to bring the person up.
"Thank you, I..." Shi Youchen was still stunned, and subconsciously thanked the person who helped him. But before he finished speaking, he heard Ying Yungui's voice, trying hard to suppress his anger: "Do you want to die?"
Ying Yungui pinched the thin shoulders tightly, and his fingertips were so strong that it seemed as if they were going to poke several holes in the shoulders.
"You said you wanted to see the snow-capped mountains, but you came all the way here just to jump off the mountain and commit suicide? If I hadn't come to find you or had arrived a step later, would you..." He couldn't finish his words because he saw the tears that flashed in Shi Youchen's eyes and the sadness that followed.
The hand on his shoulder was slapped away. Shi Youchen closed his eyes and took a deep breath: "I don't plan to die here."
"Thank you for saving me this time."
Ying Yungui was still panting. He looked up and down several times, remembering Shi Youchen's stiff steps on the cliff, as if he were hypnotized. He licked his dry lips, finally calming down a little and said, "I'm sorry, I was too excited." The scene just now was really too scary. Anyone who saw it would think Shi Youchen was seeking death.
Seeing that he hadn't completely calmed down, Shi Youchen sighed and explained, "I was drawn here by a voice, and then I lost my self-awareness. When I regained consciousness, it was you who pulled me back."
"That's it, believe it or not."
"I believe it!"
Ying Yungui's response was urgent and firm, and he was stunned for a moment after shouting it out.
Shi Youchen was also startled, then coughed and said, "Go back quickly, they will be worried."
When the two of them calmed down and returned to the camp, Jiang Yu was cooking and Luo Zhao was standing beside him trying to comfort Li Sen, who was anxiously spinning around.
Luo Zhao: "Okay, okay, look, they're back."
Li Sen was about to leap into Shi Youchen's arms when Ying Yungui stepped forward to block him.
Ying Yungui frowned: "Stop making trouble, eat and rest." It was almost sunset.
Shi Youchen stroked Li Sen's hair and said, "Let's go eat."
...
The second night on the mountain was surprisingly quiet. Ying Yungui took advantage of the time when Shi Youchen was treating Li Sen's injuries alone in the tent again to add a sedative to his bowl, so Shi Youchen slept until the next morning.
Luo Zhao slept soundly as usual, so he naturally didn't notice that Li Sen woke up in the middle of the night and secretly knelt down in the direction of the snow-capped mountains.
The next day, after everyone woke up, they went down the mountain under the leadership of Li Sen and finally returned to the town safely before dark.
After putting all the equipment and luggage back into the car, Shi Youchen asked Li Sen who was following behind him: "Where is your home? We will take you back." The child had been missing for more than a day, and his family must be worried. He wanted to visit them to apologize and explain the situation.
Since returning to town, Li Sen has been keeping his head down, and no matter what Shi Youchen said, he refused to raise his head while walking. So no one saw that Li Sen's expression at this moment was extremely panicked and helpless.
She held onto Shi Youchen's hand and refused to let go, slowly moving her feet as she led the others in one direction. Along the way, the other townspeople kept watching them, with Ying Yungui and Li Sen receiving the most attention.
The few of them turned into an alley, and suddenly Ying Yungui reached out and grabbed a stone that was thrown at them. There were several children around ten years old standing in the depths of the alley, and the one who threw stones at them was the girl in the lead.
Ying Yungui gave a look and the group of children dispersed. Before running away, he made faces at them and spoke some local dialect.
Shi Youchen's translator was always on, and he picked up a few clear sentences: "Monster!" "Alien!" "Get away!"
