Return

He Xian went to the room to debug the instrument as usual. After finishing the whole set smoothly, he was about to turn around and go out to find his dear Xiaobai, when he suddenly caught a glimpse of a pair of eyes out of the corner of his eye.

Open, purple.

"Oh... shit." Despite preparing himself mentally countless times, he was still frightened and sighed sincerely, "You really don't make any sound at all." From the moment he entered the door until now, when he confirmed it with his own eyes, he didn't feel that there was a second living person breathing in this space.

"When did you wake up?" He Xian said as he moved closer to the bed. His purple obsidian pupils slowly moved back with his movements until they were staring at the ceiling.

Seeing this, He Xian whispered, "It seems he just woke up." Then he sat down on the edge of the bed, took out the game console from his coat pocket, and waited boredly.

Half an hour later, the person on the bed finally managed to make a faint sound. When they opened their mouth, it was a rough sound like gravel scraping across a stone slab: "How's Old Yan?"

He Xian stared at the game interface, raised his eyebrows, and replied without turning his head: "It's fine. I heard that he didn't go to bed until late last night. It should be nothing serious." Thinking of the unspeakable noises he heard in Yan Zhiyuan's office when he passed by it last night, He Xian felt goosebumps all over his body.

I don't know why those two people were separated for a few days, but they became so sick and tired as if they were about to be separated forever.

But Ying Yungui obviously didn't understand the "inside story," so he didn't match He Xian's brainwaves: "That's good. I didn't recognize him at the time. I guess I didn't have time to stop."

"Pah!" The little man on the screen fell into the lava and died.

He Xian put away the game console with regret, knowing that he had misunderstood. He turned and looked him in the eye and said, "I was wrong just now. He was seriously injured. Two vertebrae were broken, but fortunately it wasn't high up in the spine, and even more fortunately his brain nerves weren't damaged. If I had been a few steps later, the first thing you would have done when you woke up would have been to visit his grave."

After hearing this, Ying Yungui struggled to get up, but He Xian slapped him back: "What are you moving about? Lie down. I haven't finished talking yet."

Ying Yungui had no strength to begin with, so he definitely couldn't get up. Strangely enough, from the moment he opened his eyes, he'd felt a sense of separation from his body, as if it wasn't his own, but someone else's, borrowed from him, and out of his control.

"Think about it carefully first. Do you still remember what you have done? Don't wait until I'm done and then realize that you have worked in vain." He Xian leaned back calmly, observing his expression.

When he heard He Xian's words, his throat tightened, his Adam's apple rolled up and down twice, and his eyes showed loss and frustration.

"I remember now," Ying Yungui said. "On the covered bridge, I misunderstood him and accidentally injured Old Yan, but I really didn't realize I had hit him at that time." His eyelashes fluttered twice, and his voice became softer. He even asked He Xian cautiously, "Is he... angry with me?"

Apart from the explanation that Shi Youchen was angry with him, Ying Yungui couldn't think of any other reason why he didn't wait for him to wake up.

But after asking, he was actually a little afraid of the answer, so he immediately continued, "How many days have I been unconscious? Has the association looked for me? I only told Lan before I came out. If she's been here for too long, she might get harassed by those guys."

Now He Xian was finally sure that he really remembered what happened before, and secretly breathed a sigh of relief. He supported his shoulders and helped him sit up, saying, "Don't worry, everything is normal at the association. As for him... I'll take you somewhere first."

The two of them arrived one after the other at the altar where Labriel had once absorbed the power of the lion totem. He Xian pointed toward a place surrounded by several long pillars. "Look, there it is." Ying Yungui followed his gaze and saw what seemed to be a figure on the platform in the darkness, but it was not clear.

Seeing that he didn't move for a long time, He Xian urged him, "Why are you standing there? Are you afraid that I will hurt you?" As he said that, he reached out and pushed him.

Ying Yungui walked towards the center of the altar. The closer he got, the more frightened he became, because the silhouette of the back was undoubtedly Shi Youchen.

He began to think about how to apologize, should he kneel down and confess his suspicion, or should he hug the other person without saying a word and not let go no matter what?

But when he got closer, all those thoughts vanished in an instant. He saw a head of white hair.

Ying Yungui was stunned.

There is Shi Youchen’s back, but with white hair?

He Xian stood at the outermost edge of the altar, watching everything from afar. He saw Ying Yungui's limbs moving forward uncontrollably and stiffly, and finally moved in front of the seated figure.

A glimmer of light ignited in his eyes, and He Xian used his supernatural power to illuminate his vision, and by the way, the entire altar. Then, as he wished, he saw Ying Yungui's red eyes, which was expected.

At the center of the altar, Ying Yungui saw a face that was both familiar and unfamiliar. What was familiar was the outline, the curve of the lips, the eyelashes that fell when the eyes were closed, and the mole on the eyebrow.

But what was unfamiliar was the whole face apart from that.

The figure before him had pale hair, dry, aged skin, and dull, colorless lips. It was a face steeped in age. "You...Chen?" Ying Yungui's lips moved ever so slightly, uttering only two words, each one piercing his heart.

He knelt silently on the ground in front of Shi Youchen, then took a few steps on his knees using his hands and feet, raising his arms.

It was not until he felt the touch of skin on his fingertips that he was sure that this was not an illusion - the white-haired old man in front of him was really Shi Youchen.

Before he could even sob, Ying Yungui was dragged into the sea of consciousness. It was a dark place. Shi Youchen was standing there waiting for someone. Noticing someone approaching, he slowly turned around and waved.

Ying Yungui walked over in a daze, and looking at the face in front of him seemed like he was in another world. This was what Shi Youchen should look like, cold and beautiful.

"You're awake." Shi Youchen said, "Since you're here, it means He Xian has determined that you have remembered what happened before and can withstand what I'm going to say next."

Without waiting for Ying Yungui to react, he continued as if it were a pre-programmed procedure: "My power here is limited, and I don't have much time to explain everything one by one. In short, there are three important things."

"First, Yan Zhiyuan's injury is not your fault. It was Noah who placed a curse on you. Coincidentally, when the curse conditions were fulfilled, you were in Sora's body, in a space like the Mirage Abyss that relies on supernatural energy. The energy was neither enough to suppress nor stable enough, which stimulated your rampage. Don't worry, he's fine now, and he doesn't blame you. As for how Noah secretly cooperated with the Feller family, I've almost finished my investigation."

"Secondly, you'll briefly feel your soul and body separated after you wake up. That's because I separated your soul-time from your body and froze it. Afterwards, I went to the Association's headquarters and brought your body back to the Mirage Abyss for nourishment. Only when your body has completely absorbed the overflowing runaway energy will your soul-time return to its original state, and you'll be able to wake up. As for the Association, don't worry, I've already made all the arrangements, and it won't arouse anyone's suspicion."

"This last thing is the most important, so listen carefully."

Ying Yungui was still in a daze and nodded obediently instinctively.

"Area S is now called the 'Holy Land.' According to your previous plan, the Holy Land is now under the control of Noah. Under his management system, only those with special abilities can enter the Holy Land. All special abilities in the world will belong to the Holy Land. He is also planning to move the Far South Hyper Evolution Experiment Base to the Holy Land."

"I'm currently tracking all his actions in the Holy Land. Yun Gui, now that you're awake, go see Lao Yan and the others. If they all agree, you can have He Xian take you to the Holy Land. I'll be waiting for you here."

Ying Yungui opened his mouth to say something, but was gently pushed away by those soft, boneless hands.

Thick fog filled the air all around him. When the fog dissipated, his sea of consciousness vanished with it. He was still at the center of the altar, and the aged Shi Youchen was still sitting cross-legged before him, eyes closed.

Ying Yungui stepped forward and carefully embraced Shi Youchen in his arms, then buried his head in his cold hair, feeling heartbroken.

"Did you see him?" He Xian approached at this time, his tone full of complaints, "Now you know how stupid what you did was? You can say it's your fault that he became like this."

He didn't mean to make Ying Yungui feel uncomfortable. He just had to watch Shi Youchen become like this, and he could only hide his body in this dark place, and had to plan everything in secret.

Anyone would feel sad.

Ying Yungui hummed a sound, then asked in a hoarse voice, "How long have I been sleeping? Why did he say... he's in the Holy Land now?"

He Xian sighed softly. "How do you think he managed to avoid suspicion from the association?" He poked Ying Yungui on the back. "This is your original body. He brought you back because he knew you would need him for quite some time."

"For this year, he's been helping you consolidate your soul power while simultaneously fulfilling the dual roles of 'Assistant Lin' and 'President Ying'. He's personally involved in every matter at the association, no matter how important or not, to ensure nothing is left unsettled. However, because his spatial power is ultimately inferior to yours, there are some things he has to let Noah handle."

"In order to take care of you, he transferred all of his spatial energy and most of his temporal energy to that clone. This is why his original body aged like this due to energy depletion."

Ying Yungui moved her head on Shi Youchen's neck and quietly wiped away her tears.

He Xian pretended not to notice and continued, "But don't worry, this phenomenon is temporary. As long as he returns the transferred energy, he will be able to return to his previous state."

After a long while, Ying Yungui finally raised his head and said, "I want to go to the Holy Land. I want to see him."
