Task 7
The Mirage Abyss is a space composed entirely of supernatural energy. In contrast, the Holy Land is a space that neither absorbs nor retains supernatural energy.
It is a truly pure place, a place specially prepared by Shi Youchen for the new world, and it has never allowed anything that should not exist to leave any trace.
This place has only existed for a year, and only people with special abilities can live here. But now, the special abilities here are strangely losing their energy, and in their words, they are "degenerating into ordinary people."
On the altar of the Mirage Abyss, Ying Yungui performed the deep-sea procedure silently - he spread the special energy gathered and absorbed by the totems to every corner of the world through the sea water, and then let them transport every bit of special energy back to the altar through the sea water.
This was a silent plunder, and no noise could reach here. The sun rose as usual that day, but no one saw it.
When the hands of the grandfather clock had turned nearly one circle and the bell had rang seventy-one times, a crack appeared in the middle of the Milky Way woven by light patterns. The crack pulled a window upward and downward, but no one could see the scene outside the window clearly.
Seven people lay beside the long pillar, their bearers having fallen asleep without realizing it. Shi Youchen stared at the hands of the grandfather clock. After confirming that it was no longer moving, he walked to the center of the altar and stretched out his hand toward the clock.
The world beneath the deep sea has come to a standstill.
Points of light flowed from the tip of the pointer, toward the gap in the Milky Way, and out the window. As they moved, they constantly changed color and position, forming some specific images, which then quickly shattered and reassembled.
Shi Youchen and Ying Yungui could both see the images created by the light spots as they passed in front of them, blurry yet profound like an old photograph. But the images they saw were different.
Ying Yungui is farther away from the clock, so there are more light spots passing by and the picture is larger.
He saw Luo Zhao hiding in the corner of the room flooded by sea water, with her head buried between her knees. On the wall behind her hung a family photo of the Luo family, which the association later helped to restore, and next to it was a separate photo of Jiang Yu.
He saw Lu Zhiqi standing in the basement, looking up at the totem that appeared on the wall again, his expression frozen in a moment of astonishment.
He saw Shen Buhui and Mai Er sleeping in each other's arms in a mountain hut.
Shi Youchen was close by and saw Lan, Jiang E and Li Nuo crowded in a room, all with worried looks on their faces.
The ocean, carrying the things it gently embraced, continued to migrate out of the window. Although there was nothing there now, it would soon give birth to a brand new world. In that world, there were no superpowers, no superpowered people, and humans were simply humans. They would share a common racial goal: to rebuild human civilization.
During the long and silent migration, Shi Youchen and Ying Yungui remained silent until all places except the Mirage Abyss disappeared into the gap of time and space, and then footsteps were heard not far away.
Shi Youchen turned around and saw Lin Zhouze walking in with one child on his back and another in his arms. He put Li Sen down steadily, then smoothed out Yan Zhiyuan's messy hair. He said to Yungui, "I'll take them away first. Do you have anything to say to him?"
Ying Yungui hadn't spoken since the underground factory, and he hadn't even moved since the deep-sea procedure began. Firstly, he wasn't in the mood, and secondly, he was completely exhausted and didn't want to move. Now, facing their farewell, he finally moved. He placed a hand on Yan Zhiyuan's shoulder and whispered, "You two will be good friends from now on. He's not young anymore, so just be more accommodating."
Shi Youchen still stood upright in the center of the altar, looking at the sleeping Li Sen from a distance, and gave a few instructions: "She has never attended a proper school, and I'm afraid she will suffer in the future. I'll trouble you and Luo Zhao to take good care of her." Lin Zhouze waited for a while, but before he could say anything more, he sighed lightly: "Don't worry." Then he sent Yan Zhiyuan and Li Sen into the gap one after another.
But he did not follow in immediately. Instead, he walked out briskly, and when he came back in, he was holding someone in his arms.
Ying Yungui was stunned when he saw the person he carried in - it was Shi Youchen's old body with white hair, and his eyes were still tightly closed.
Lin Zhouze carried the body and walked towards the gap without stopping, then passed it over in Ying Yungui's dull gaze.
Then, facing Shi Youchen, he opened his arms and shouted, "I'm leaving!" A faint hint of tears mingled in his voice. The bell rang, the seventy-second time. Lin Zhouze's body vanished into a speck of light.
Shi Youchen's eyes were slightly red, and he felt a little difficult to breathe, so he looked at the people lying on the ground around him and reached out to take off his mask.
Ying Yungui's thinking was a little slow, and he felt a sudden panic for no reason. He asked Shi Youchen blankly, "How did he... bring your body over?"
silence.
Seeing Ying Yungui's lifeless eyes, yet he was still trying to think, Shi Youchen couldn't bear it and said, "Yungui, the body you have now is actually Kong's clone. The one Zhou Ze took away just now was your original body."
Ying Yungui obviously didn't react: "Isn't this yours?" He clearly realized that his thinking was abnormally slow, like an aging machine about to die, which could barely move but could not be used.
"This is my real body. I borrowed Pei Chanbai's ability to transform it into an exact replica of yours." Pei Chanbai's ability? Ying Yungui pondered for a full five minutes before finally remembering—concrete molecular recombination. An unprecedented, intense uneasiness welled up in his heart.
Then, Shi Youchen's voice floated over the altar: "The new world is great, you will like it."
Ying Yungui seemed to understand what that meant - Shi Youchen wanted to send him to the new world as well.
"Ah?" He opened his mouth slowly, "Youchen, what are you talking about? Don't joke at a time like this." But he clearly saw that there was no trace of joking in those eyes that looked exactly like his own.
Shi Youchen is serious.
This realization sent a chill down Ying Yungui's spine, his hair standing on end. "What do you mean?" He was too flustered to finish a sentence. "You want me to go somewhere where you're not?"
Shi Youchen stood quietly at the altar and nodded to him. Ying Yungui suddenly shouted, "What nonsense are you talking about! How could I possibly go to a place without you?"
"You will forget me, in no time. You will wake up over there, and I will disappear along with this place, and then you will no longer have any memory of me."
Ying Yungui felt as if someone had struck him on the head with a hammer. His head felt dizzy, and his vision began to blur. He fell to his knees with a clang, crying, "Stop, Youchen, please, please stop," as he crawled towards the center of the altar.
But even though it was only three or five steps away, he couldn't reach it. His hands and feet were completely exhausted, and being able to hold on without collapsing was already his limit. He was already begging, "Stop... I beg you, you can't do this to me, you can't act on your own, you said so."
Ying Yungui lifted his head with all his strength, looking up at Shi Youchen. He was so high and mighty. "You promised me that you would let me die with you. You promised me!!!"
Shi Youchen took a deep breath and said calmly, "Yes, I did agree, but I regret it." "I want you to disappear with me, without even a burial place, and be forgotten by everyone. I can't bear it."
Can't bear to.
Can't bear to.
Reluctant...
Ying Yungui was going crazy. He thought he was already mad. At that moment, every detail related to the creation of the clone rushed into his mind. "Can't bear to let go?" He was almost collapsed. "You can't bear to let go? You've been lying to me from the beginning, you've been lying to me from the beginning!!! You wanted to abandon me from the beginning!!!"
Suddenly, an idea emerged - as long as he unlocked the deep-sea program and took back the fixed spatial energy, that place would no longer exist and Shi Youchen would not be able to leave him.
Ying Yungui was so ecstatic that he was about to smile, but a clear and cold voice came down from above his head: "From the moment your original body was sent away, you have no control over space. Give up, Yungui." Shi Youchen knew him too well, knew every flaw in his character, and knew even better how to defeat him.
"Do you remember you once said that we didn't need to ask for consent?" Shi Youchen's voice softened, as if trying to comfort him. "You said you'd listen to me in everything, so listen to me one last time. Be a good boy and don't do anything that would make me look down on you."
Ying Yungui was completely devastated by these two words. He really had no other options left. Shi Youchen was truly going to leave him. He lost all strength and fell to the ground, wailing uncontrollably. His already weakened body soon became breathless.
Shi Youchen's palms were bleeding from pinching, numb and almost numb. The child's extremely loud crying broke his heart, but also softened his heart.
Anyway...it's the last time.
With this thought, he stepped down from the altar and knelt before Ying Yungui. He grabbed his arms and hugged him tightly, so tight that his bones burned. A weak voice twitched in Shi Youchen's ears: "You are so cruel... Shi Youchen, how could you be so cruel... You made me not even die in the same world as you... And you also made me forget you..."
Ying Yungui said, "I hate you so much."
Shi Youchen stopped stroking his back, stepped forward, and held up his face with both hands. Blood stained Ying Yungui's face, and it was very hot.
Shi Youchen looked at him quietly, unwilling to let useless tears occupy even the last second: "Then hate me, Yun Gui, hate me, maybe you can still remember me."
Ying Yungui did not respond.
Ying Yungui lost consciousness.
Ying Yungui's body was carried to the front of the space-time gap, and some very faint light spots floated out from it and drilled into the other side.
"You cried so ugly, and in the end you didn't even let me see your handsome side." Shi Youchen muttered to himself, "I should hate you."
He slowly, slowly squatted down, then hugged the lifeless and temperatureless body and shed tears in despair.
"Yun Gui...don't go..."
