The sky was a clear, deep blue when the silhouette of an eagle suddenly appeared out of nowhere and swooped down at incredible speed.
It opened its hook-like mouth and howled at Zhao Xi and Xiao Jia below.
"Aww—"
It turned out that what I had just heard was the cry of this eagle, but it was too far away and flying too fast, so the majestic sound was distorted.
A wave of sound swept over, almost shattering the top of my head.
Zhao Xi hurriedly covered her ears and ducked to avoid the eagle that was moving as fast as lightning above.
The rumbling sound echoed among the snow-capped mountains, causing large amounts of snow to slide off the bare branches and boulders, creating a sudden tremor.
"careful!"
Xiao Jia roared, raised his spirit sword, and leaped in front of her to block her attack.
"clang"--
The eagle's talons gripped the spirit sword.
The spirit sword shattered into several pieces!
Xiao Jia let out a muffled groan and was sent flying by the blast.
Holy crap!
Zhao Xi's hand trembled, and as if by reflex, she threw a stack of talismans from her ring, hurling them at the giant eagle.
Where's the guardian beast that was supposed to be a snowball monster rolling down from the top of the snow mountain?!
Most of the items she prepared were fire spirit talismans!
How can you use the Five Elements Talisman to strike an eagle that's flying in the sky and impossible to catch?
With a flap of its brown wings, the eagle stirred up a gust of wind, blowing away all the unlit fire talismans, which drifted across the entire scree beach.
"It's a giant buzzard! Run! It'll catch people!"
Xiao Jia's arm was slashed by the broken sword, and blood was flowing freely. He pulled out a spare spirit sword from his ring and rushed over to protect her.
Zhao Xi tried to reach for the ring by shrinking her neck, and was about to take out the talisman to continue her attack when she felt her clothes tighten behind her back and her feet leave the ground.
She was caught by an eagle's claws and sent flying into the sky!
"Holy crap! Put me down!" Zhao Xi tried to shout, but in the blink of an eye she was in mid-air. Then she quickly changed her mind, "Don't put me down! I'll be smashed to pieces!"
She raised her hands high and tightly hugged one of the eagle's cold claws.
Eagle claws resemble chicken claws, covered in scales, with incredibly sharp nails at the tips, and a dried-up mouse hanging from one of them.
"Aww—"
The giant buzzard angrily soared into the sky. The terrain here was already high, and in the blink of an eye, the mountains below looked tiny.
It suddenly released its claws and then actually spoke, "Hmph, you wretched cultivator, I'll make you die! Die!"
Zhao Xi tried to cling to the eagle claw tightly, but the cold wind at high altitude froze her eyes, and she shouted, "I'm not a cultivator, I'm a mortal!"
"It's even more despicable that mortals would covet the immortal herb!"
"No, no, I need it to help the young demon beast form its core. I only need one piece!" Zhao Xixiang hurriedly explained. "Really, I am Zhao Xixiang, the director of the Hundred Beast Garden. Since you can speak, you must be a demon cultivator. Put me down first, and we can talk!"
"You immortals are liars, you're all smooth talkers. I've been fooled before, and I won't be fooled again!"
The giant buzzard kicked its claws, trying to shake her off.
Zhao Xi thought she had no other choice but to hold on tightly.
Through her blurry, tear-filled eyes, she saw Xiao Jia chasing after her on his sword.
Before I could even feel happy, there was a huge rock on the steep cliff of the snow-capped mountain not far away.
Holy crap!
The giant buzzard wanted to rush towards the mountain wall and scrape her off its claws.
This is going to be ground into mincemeat!
Zhao Xi was so frightened that she let go of his hand, and he fell down feeling weightless.
Free landing!
clang--
She paused, then landed on the hilt of the sword, causing it to wobble.
"Ah...that scared me to death..." Zhao Xi patted her chest, feeling like her heart was about to stop.
"Hurry up, Principal!"
"Um!"
Zhao Xi tried to find a rope and quickly tied herself to the sword hilt.
Half-bound, the spirit sword drifted and flew about like an autumn leaf falling from a tree.
Xiao Jia stood on the tip of the sword, his hands forming a magic seal, his lips moving in and out, urging the sword to change direction every now and then, without touching the ground or stopping.
The giant buzzard flew into the sky and circled once, as if trying to confirm its target before diving down, but it hovered in mid-air and hesitated to make its final sprint.
This must be an experience that Xiaojia gained in life!
Eagles' high-speed movement is very physically demanding. They often stand at high places to observe the location of their prey with their keen hearing and vision, estimate their movement route, and then make their move.
This unpredictable movement disrupted the Great Buzzard Demon's usual strategy, causing him to pause his attack.
"Hey!" Zhao Xi took several breaths of oxygen before finally catching her breath. She sat up from the spirit sword and shouted, "We only want one petal from a Spirit Snow Rabbit! This snow mountain is so big, there must be plenty of Spirit Snow Rabbits. What's wrong with giving us just one petal? How can you be so stingy?!"
"Huh?" The great buzzard demon was so angry that it laughed, its laughter echoing through the snow-capped mountains, causing even larger chunks of snow to slide down. "Many spirit snow rabbits? Look down yourself, besides this one, where else are there?! If it dies, its entire clan dies! You say you want to help a demon beast form its core, is forming the core more important, or its life?!"
Is there only one left?
Zhao Xi wanted to take off her sunglasses and look down.
Tiny spiritual plants dot the crevices of the scree slopes, radiating different colored spiritual energy that forms a halo. Occasionally, one or two plants resemble the spiritual energy of the Spirit Snow Rabbit, but a closer look reveals their differences.
Zhao Xixiang had mixed feelings. After hesitating for a moment, she thought of something and took out a book from her ring: "Want to try this?"
"A Guide to Planting Herbs in the Immortal Realm" - The author's position is marked with a flower pattern.
