Chapter 31 Mr. Shang has a stomachache

As the night deepened, the hustle and bustle of traffic outside the car window was like a flowing modern urban painting, and Wen Ran watched it with fascination.

Shang Jingchi kept his eyes fixed on Wen Ran. After a few minutes, he noticed that Wen Ran was lying on the window, motionless. He said dissatisfiedly, "What's so interesting outside the window?"

After hearing Shang Jingchi's words, Wen Ran did not refute.

She pursed her lips, sat up straight, and looked towards the front of the car.

Xu Yuan was driving. He looked through the rearview mirror and saw Wen Ran looking over here, and his eyebrows twitched.

The arrogance and dissatisfaction in Shang Jingchi's tone were too obvious.

Even Xu Yuan, who usually couldn't guess the president's mind, guessed it this time.

Isn't it just that he wants Wen Ran to look at him?

Bodhisattva Xu Yuan coughed twice with a kind smile on his face, "Miss Wen, look at the streetlight on the left, it's very beautiful!"

"Really?" Wen Ran turned his gaze to the left window and frowned. "That's not right! Why do both sides look the same to me?"

Xu Yuan almost suffocated and continued driving without paying any attention to Wen Ran.

Wen Ran turned her head to take another look at the right window, but Shang Jingchi suddenly raised his hand and pinched her chin, stopping her movement and forcing her to look at him.

Shang Jingchi's grip was always so strong that Wen Ran groaned in pain.

Just as he was about to struggle, Wen Ran discovered that something was wrong with Shang Jingchi.

His face was still impeccably handsome, but a little too pale, with beads of sweat on his forehead.

Wen Ran hurriedly moved closer to him to check and found that his breathing was also rapid.

"Mr. Shang, what's wrong with you?" Wen Ran's words were a little unclear because his jaw was pinched.

Shang Jingchi was very satisfied with Wen Ran's reaction. He let go of her hand, looked away, and replied lightly, "My stomach hurts." His voice was a little weak.

Xu Yuan, who was driving in front, almost hit the guardrail beside the lane after hearing it.

The car body shook violently, and Wen Ran was startled. He subconsciously said, "Slow down!"

"I'm sorry, I'm sorry. Mr. Shang, let's go to the hospital now." After saying that, Xu Yuan stepped on the accelerator again.

Shang Jingchi glanced at Xu Yuan. If he wasn't in so much pain, he would have started cursing.

Wen Ran turned his gaze towards Shang Jingchi, a look of concern on his face. "Why do you suddenly have a stomachache?"

After all, everything was fine when we were having dinner together just now.

Xu Yuan responded on behalf of Shang Jingchi, "The company has been very busy lately, and President Shang often skips lunch." Especially when Wen Ran makes President Shang angry.

Wen Ran was present, so Xu Yuan didn't dare to say the second half of the sentence.

Shang Jingchi accused him unhappily, "Stop talking!"

At this time, Wen Ran was thinking: As a little white flower, should she cry a few times and show some fear?

After all, Shang Jingchi looked quite ill.

While Wen Ran was thinking, no one spoke in the car and it fell into a brief silence.

Shang Jingchi covered his stomach with his palms, looking forward, but his peripheral vision was focused on Wen Ran.

After waiting for a long time, Wen Ran didn't react at all, and no one even asked him if it hurt.

Shang Jingchi's face became increasingly gloomy, and his stomach hurt more. He turned his head with difficulty and wanted to question Wen Ran.

But Wen Ran's face was covered with tears, and she was biting her lower lip to hold back her tears.

Shang Jingchi was dazed for a moment, then he quickly raised his hand to wipe Wen Ran's tears, ignoring his own stomachache. "Why are you crying? I'm fine. I'll be fine after taking some medicine."

Shang Jingchi's voice was soft and low, a tone Xu Yuan had never heard before.

Xu Yuan glanced at the rearview mirror and couldn't believe that this was Shang Jingchi, who was always in a rage in the company.

If he hadn't kept a calm mind, he might have really crashed into the guardrail.

Wen Ran let Shang Jingchi wipe her tears, her shoulders shaking up and down, and she asked with a sob, "Does it hurt?"

"It doesn't hurt, it really doesn't hurt." Shang Jingchi gasped in pain and gritted his teeth to comfort Wen Ran.

He held Wen Ran in his arms, his palm covering Wen Ran's head, "Don't cry."

"Um."

Wen Ran curled up in Shang Jingchi's arms like a little kitten.

Her cheek rested against his chest.

After arriving at the hospital, the doctor examined me and confirmed that I had acute gastroenteritis.

Xu Yuan went to check in at the hospital, while Wen Ran accompanied Shang Jingchi into the ward and let him lie down to rest.

It was already early morning when the formalities were completed. The nurse came with a treatment tray to give him an injection. Wen Ran looked at the needle and his legs went limp with fear.

In the end, Shang Jingchi stretched out one hand for the nurse to inject, and covered Wen Ran's eyes with the other hand, saying, "Don't be afraid, it won't hurt."

The nurse hit the nail on the head and Shang Jingchi put his hand down.

Wen Ran watched the potion enter Shang Jingchi's blood vessels bit by bit, and breathed a sigh of relief in fear.

The nurse had never seen anything like this before, so she joked to Shang Jingchi, "Your girlfriend is so timid, she must have been a rabbit in her previous life."

Shang Jingchi raised the corner of his mouth and said, "It's quite cute."

Wen Ran focused on the word "girlfriend" and quickly waved her hand to explain, "I'm not a nurse."

The nurse's eyes curved, "Your girlfriend is so cute!" She emphasized the ending of this sentence and said it to Shang Jingchi.

After saying that, the nurse left the ward with the treatment tray.

Xu Yuan went to buy daily necessities, and they were the only two people left in the ward.

Wen Ran stood beside the bed, not knowing what to do.

Shang Jingchi suddenly reached out and grabbed her wrist, and Wen Ran looked up.

Shang Jingchi tilted his head and motioned for her to sit down.

Wen Ran didn't say anything and sat down on the bed obediently. Before he could find a comfortable position, Shang Jingchi's voice came to his ears, "Why did you say you weren't?"

Wen Ran was stunned when he heard this.

No? Not what? Not a rabbit?

Or... not a girlfriend?

But she was not a rabbit, let alone her girlfriend.

Seeing Wen Ran remained silent, Shang Jingchi's voice, which made it impossible to tell whether he was happy or angry, came again, "That day at the cocktail party, Mr. Jiang asked what our relationship was. Why did you say we were friends?"

The two of them sat close together on the hospital bed. Shang Jingchi's heat from speaking to Wen Ran made her sweat.

Wen Ran's mind raced as he tried to understand what Shang Jingchi meant.

Since Shang Jingchi asked her, he was naturally dissatisfied with her original answer.

But how else could she answer?

They just wanted to get what they wanted from each other, and Shang Jingchi had never introduced himself to outsiders.

Except for taking her and company employees to have a meal at the club today, it was just a meal.

Wen Ran became depressed as she thought about it. She thought Shang Jingchi was questioning her because he felt that they were not even worthy of being friends.

But she didn't dare to provoke Shang Jingchi.

Wen Ran tilted her head and leaned on Shang Jingchi's upper arm, whispering softly, "I'm sorry, Mr. Shang, I was wrong~"

Wen Ran seemed to faintly hear Shang Jingchi sigh.

Fortunately, Shang Jingchi didn't say anything else.
