Nangong Qing scoffed. He wasn't interested in Su Luo's money; he just wanted to tease her.
The two had only taken two steps when they encountered Nangong Chiyu, and Nangong Qing nodded to him.
"Prince Yu also came to collect silver, why did you come in person?"
Nangong Chiyu, without a smile, glanced at Su Luo and said, "Since we're on the way, if I remember correctly, the Deputy Minister of Agriculture should be giving me acupuncture today."
"Yes! I was just thinking of going to your residence to find you later." Su Luo hadn't forgotten; she remembered everything.
"Then let's go!"
Nangong Chiyu's tone left no room for argument. Su Luo was in a good mood and didn't bother arguing with him. She turned to Nangong Qingdao.
"Nangong Qing, you should go back now. I'll come find you again next time."
Su Luo's treatment of Nangong Chiyu was ordered by the Emperor, so Nangong Qing naturally didn't say anything and nodded to the two of them to take his leave.
"Luo Luo, I'll be going now."
"Um!"
Su Luo held the box and watched Nangong Qing leave.
But in Nangong Chiyu's eyes, Su Luo's actions were simply a sign of his lingering affection for Nangong Qing. How could he have married such a woman back then?
How short-sighted he was back then!
"Prince Yu, aren't you going to collect the silver?"
Nangong Chiyu snorted coldly, turned around, left Shen's Money House, and got into the carriage. The carriage benches were still in place, waiting for Su Luo to get on.
Su Luo reached into the box in her arms, put all the silver notes into her spatial storage, and then locked the empty box.
After doing all this, she followed Nangong Chiyu into his carriage. Once inside, she saw him sitting in the main seat, while Su Luo sat to the side, holding a box and a scroll.
Today was a rare good mood for Su Luo, but when she looked at Nangong Chiyu, he remained expressionless.
Su Luo handed the scroll in her hand to him, a faint smile on her face.
"This is a gift to thank you for engraving my name over the past few months."
Nangong Chiyu glanced at her, took the scroll, and opened it to read.
This is a poem: "Drunk, I pick up my lamp to examine my sword; in my dreams, I hear the bugles echoing through the camps."
"This is the poem from Fu Man Lou!"
Upon seeing the poem, Nangong Chiyu's expression softened slightly, and Su Luo saw affection and joy in his eyes.
"That's right, it's the song from Fu Man Lou. Last time when I went to eat with the Second Prince, I saw you looking at it the whole time, so I specially got it for you this time. What do you think? Do you like it?"
This poem resonated with his own experiences; he could empathize with it after just one glance and naturally liked it.
"It's barely acceptable!"
Su Luo clearly saw that he liked it, but she still pretended to be stubborn.
He spread the poems out in his hands, reluctant to roll them up.
"This is a poem from Fumanlou Restaurant. How did you manage to get it down?"
Nangong Chiyu felt that Su Luo must have spent a lot of money to buy it. Fumanlou's dishes were the best in the capital, so this poem must not have been cheap either.
“These are my things, I can take them down if I want to.”
"your?"
Nangong Chiyu was surprised; this was a poem written by Su Luo.
"Yes! Now it's yours."
Su Luo's words were righteous and eloquent, and were by no means fabricated. Every line of this poem could be called a quatrain. It was astonishing that Su Luo could write such a poem.
"Did you write this poem?"
"No, it was written by a general. I just borrowed it, but in Nanning and Beiliang, this poem is unique."
If it wasn't made by Su Luo herself, she would never be someone who seeks fame and fortune.
"I have never heard of any general in Nanning or Beiliang who could write such good poems."
Since there was no signature and Su Luo claimed it was hers, it was hard for Nangong Chiyu not to believe that the poem was written by Su Luo.
"He's not from this world, so stop asking. If you like the poem, I'll give it to you. Why ask so many questions?"
Nangong Chiyu observed Su Luo's expression, a slight smile playing on his lips, before turning his gaze back to the poetry.
"Okay! I won't ask anymore. But the handwriting is alright, though for me, it's not strong enough."
The carriage slowly traveled from the main street toward the Prince Yu's residence. Su Luo heard Nangong Chiyu's comments and then spoke up.
"This is Nangong Qing's calligraphy; it's considered excellent."
Upon hearing that it was Nangong Qing's calligraphy, Nangong Chiyu immediately closed the scroll in his hand and threw it to the other side of the carriage.
Su Luo saw his face darken again after it had just calmed down. He really was a sick person, always so unpredictable.
"What's wrong? Are you unhappy again?"
He ignored Su Luo and said to the Crimson Feather Army outside, "Go to the military camp!"
Su Luo was taken aback. Wasn't it supposed to be acupuncture today? How could she do it if he went to the military camp?
"Your Highness, so you mean we won't have acupuncture today? If not, then I'll go back."
Nangong Chiyu felt that Su Luo was in a hurry to go back because she wanted to find Nangong Qing. Ever since he learned that Su Luo liked Nangong Qing, he didn't want Su Luo to be with Nangong Qing.
"Tell your men to stop the car!"
He acted as if he couldn't hear Su Luo speaking, and the carriage went straight out of the city gate.
The military camp was located outside the city, and women were generally not allowed to enter unless there were special circumstances.
However, Su Luo's identity was that of the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, and the entire military camp consisted of the Crimson Feather Army, all of whom came from Beichuan City. Everyone knew that the Deputy Minister of Agriculture ensured that they had ample food and supplies, as well as cotton-padded clothes.
Because of her official position and being with Nangong Chiyu, no one stopped Su Luo from entering. On the contrary, the people inside were very welcoming, and everyone was grateful to Su Luo for relieving their worries.
However, after bringing her here, Nangong Chiyu left her aside, kicked his spear out, caught it, and headed to the training ground to practice.
Even the Akabane Army didn't dare to sit idle and also practiced a set of techniques.
"Deputy Minister of Agriculture, you must be the Deputy Minister of Agriculture. The soldier in front of me said that the Deputy Minister of Agriculture has arrived."
Su Luo was left outside, surrounded by dust and sand, with nowhere to sit. Turning her head, she saw a kind-looking middle-aged man smiling at her.
"Yes, that's me. And who are you?"
The man waved his hands excitedly, and it took him a while before he could finally speak.
“I…I…I am Sun Ding, the commander of Chiyu. With the prince and the deputy general absent, the troop deployment and training in this military camp must be carried out by me.”
When Sun Ding was in Beichuan City, he ate tree bark and grass roots. Suddenly one day, the imperial court delivered supplies, all of which were grain. It saved countless lives, and there were also cotton clothes to keep warm.
Later he learned that these were only available to the Deputy Minister of Agriculture, because only the Deputy Minister of Agriculture could provide two seasons of rice and surplus grain for them.
Only with a deputy minister of agriculture could people get cotton-padded clothes. Once they were well-fed and warmly clothed, the children of Beiliang dared not act recklessly.
At that time, Sun Ding decided that after returning to the capital, he would protect the Vice Minister of Agriculture, regardless of whether he knew him or not.
"Commander Sun, hello!"
Sun Ding noticed that Su Luo was dressed in clean clothes, which made her stand out from the group.
"Is this your first time visiting a military camp, Deputy Minister of Agriculture? How about I show you around?"
