Overnight, Ye Yueze became much calmer and learned to think. He knew without thinking that these people were sent by his aunt.
"Brother, Aunt won't kill me, but you'd better be careful."
Ye Beihan glanced back at Ye Yueze, then turned and drew his curved sword, leaving no one alive in his wake.
But it's easy to dodge a spear in the open, but hard to guard against an arrow in the dark.
An arrow flew through the air, and Ye Beihan, with lightning speed, swung his scimitar, severing the arrow in two.
But a master archer is a master archer; even though the arrow's fletching was cut off, the arrowhead still pierced his arm.
"Master, may we spare their lives?"
At the doorway, Ye Shaorong walked over with a cold and ruthless look. The arrow that had struck Ye Beihan had been poisoned by her.
This poison is lethal upon contact with blood!
"What needs to be settled, I will handle myself!"
"Imperial Guards, listen to my command! Today, I only want Ye Beihan's life and do not want to harm the innocent. He has been poisoned. I urge you to disarm him immediately."
Black blood dripped from the arrow fletching on Ye Beihan's arm. He remained silent, and no one in the entire hall dared to move.
However, with a single swing of the scimitar, it slashed precisely across the throat of the archer who had wounded him.
With no more threats outside, Ye Beihan straightened up, seemingly oblivious to the pain.
With a sinister smile on his face, he waited for Ye Shaorong to draw her sword and walk up to him.
"Brother, no..."
Ye Yueze knew without a doubt what was about to happen. His aunt was no match for Ye Beihan. She thought that she could render her brother powerless by using poison.
But she didn't know that no matter what kind of poison it was, it would have a certain delay in taking effect in her brother's body, or it might not have caused any problems at all.
Before he could stop it, Ye Yueze watched helplessly as another relative collapsed in front of him.
Ye Beihan knocked the sword out of Ye Shaorong's hand, caught the hilt with his other hand, and stabbed it into Ye Shaorong's abdomen. The white sword went in and out, while the red sword emerged from behind.
Ye Shaorong stared wide-eyed in disbelief. Ye Beihan had clearly been hit by her poisoned arrow, so how come he seemed to be fine? Wasn't this poison supposed to kill instantly upon contact with blood?
"You...you actually...aren't poisoned..."
"Aunt, it's all over now!"
"You... you knew I would make a move, didn't you?"
Ye Shaorong could tell from the strange smile on Ye Beihan's face that she had fallen into a trap this time, and she had lost, lost terribly.
"Ye Qianning's tomb in the imperial mausoleum has been disturbed. Was it Su Luo's idea? I'm luring you into this scheme today. I'm tired of this farce."
Ye Shaorong was filled with resentment. No wonder she was able to set up defenses and enter the palace so easily. It turned out that all of this was planned by Ye Beihan.
"You killed... Qian Ning, you... won't... have a good ending..."
Ye Shaorong could only make a couple of threats, but she knew that as long as Su Luo was around, Ye Beihan would not have a good end. She was waiting for him on the road to the underworld.
"Brother...you guys..."
Ye Beihan ignored Ye Yueze, glanced at the ministers who had fled, and said, "Let's continue with the coronation ceremony."
The underground workers got busy again. At this point, Ye Yueze had no choice but to obey orders; he couldn't resist in any way.
Palace maids and eunuchs were cleaning up the mess ahead when a guard ran up to Shuang Shuo and whispered something in his ear. Shuang Shuo's pupils dilated, and he turned around to report to Ye Beihan.
"Master, someone outside has reported that the Deputy Minister of Agriculture has gone to the underground palace."
Ye Beihan took a deep breath, a trace of sorrow flashing across his face before disappearing in an instant.
"Take her back to the manor, but don't hurt her."
"Yes, Master."
Shuang Shuo led a group of people to the underground palace, a cold smile on his face. It would be best if Su Luo died inside.
The underground palace is not a place Su Luo can go; it's a place that eats people.
Su Luo searched several places but couldn't find any poisonous insects. Instead, she triggered quite a few traps. If she hadn't been able to hide in her spatial dimension every time, she probably would have been dead long ago.
After searching in many places, she finally heard some different squeaking sounds, the kind of sounds only animals make.
Following the sound, Su Luo navigated the crisscrossing underground passages, carefully discerning them until she finally found the place.
Before me was the main hall of the underground palace, which should have been the hall where the emperor had stayed during his escape. However, it was not like that now. Inside, there were all sorts of medicinal herbs and medicine packets.
It's obvious that someone frequently concocts medicine here. In the side hall next door, there are cages of various sizes and different kinds of animals.
Having lived through the apocalypse, Su Luo could easily see that these animals had all mutated, making it impossible to discern what they were originally.
For example, the first animal she saw had the body of a ladybug but two large horns on its head, which was very strange.
Having been inside for too long, and with the underground palace making noise again, Su Luo knew something was wrong.
With a wave of her hand, she collected all the poisonous creatures trapped in the cages into her spatial storage, intending to collect them one by one for blood testing when she returned.
If the poisonous blood that can save Nangong Chiyu is right here, then she can go back.
"Find him, dead or alive!"
When Shuang Shuo entered, he saw that many mechanisms had been activated. He was delighted, thinking that if that woman was here, she would be severely injured, if not killed.
Hearing approaching footsteps, Su Luo turned and hid in another passage. However, she was not familiar with this place, and after wandering around, she felt that someone was still following her.
When she encountered a place she couldn't avoid, she would hide in her spatial dimension.
When Shuang Shuo entered the main hall of the underground palace, all the poisonous insects his master had left him were gone. His fists clenched so tightly that he felt like he was about to explode.
"Su Luo...I'm going to kill you..."
A scream erupted from Shuang Shuo's mouth in anger. Su Luo turned around and looked at all the mutated poisonous insects in her space. These things were meant to harm people anyway.
Shuang Shuo and the others couldn't catch her. She came out of the space and memorized the scene of the underground palace.
While wandering around, she stumbled upon a secret passage. Those who built such underground palaces usually knew that these were royal secret chambers, not to be known by outsiders.
The day the underground palace is completed will be the day they perish, so there must be an escape route inside that even the royal family doesn't know about.
Su Luo happened to find this path. The path was the same color as the underground palace, but the soil was different.
Su Luo pushed hard, and a narrow path appeared, big enough for one person to walk on. After closing the door, some of the loose soil on it crumbled down, making it impossible for anyone to notice that it was actually a door.
Su Luo only realized how well it was hidden when she touched the soil, which was different from the others.
"Su Luo, come out here, come out..."
Shuang Shuo was furious. So many poisonous insects trained by his masters had been stolen by Su Luo. However, with over thirty cages together, Su Luo must still be inside the underground palace.
She couldn't possibly have brought so many cages; she could have run out of the underground palace in one go.
Hearing Shuang Shuo's voice echoing in the underground palace, Su Luo returned the way she came. Whenever she encountered them, she would enter the space and only come out after they left.
She escaped the underground palace without any problems, but before she could even smile, she was intercepted by Ye Beihan outside the palace.
