Chapter 24 Cesarean Section

"Mom, why did you come here too?" Wang Dayong helped his mother up while also wanting to go inside to check on his wife.

"Dr. Du, please come in and check on my wife. She can't die!" Wang Dayong cried out wearily, completely panicked.

Dr. Du picked up the box and went back inside. Su Luo pulled Du Xiuyuan back and said, "Dr. Du, let me go in with you and take a look."

Du Xiuyuan looked at Su Luo, thinking that Su Luo must also know some medical skills, and since she was a woman, it would be more convenient for her to go in with him.

"Okay, let's go take a look together."

Upon entering the room, Zhang was already on the verge of death. Du Xiuyuan shook his head after taking her pulse. Su Luo lifted the blanket and saw that the bleeding was severe and the baby showed no signs of coming out. If this continued, the baby would suffocate, and the adult would not be able to hold on either.

"I have done my best," Du Xiuyuan said.

Su Luo reached under the covers and touched Zhang's belly. The baby was breech, making a natural birth impossible. Moreover, the amniotic sac had broken. If they didn't help, both mother and child would die.

"Dr. Du, how is my wife?" Wang Dayong also rushed in, holding the hand of Zhang, who had already fainted. His eyes were bruised, indicating that he hadn't slept all night.

"Alas! I'm afraid it won't work."

Wang Dayong's plump body collapsed to the ground, as if he had lost his backbone.

"Dr. Du, please think of something else. You must save my wife. She can't die, she can't die!"

Zhang weakly reached out and took Wang Dayong's hand: "Husband, it seems I can't do it. Please... you must save our child. As long as he can live, my suffering will not have been in vain."

"Honey, you can't get sick. We can talk about anything after the baby is born. Please don't go to sleep."

"My husband, I'm tired and want to rest."

Wang Dayong could no longer care about anything else. He knelt down in front of Du Xiuyuan and said with difficulty, "Dr. Du, please, save my wife. I can't live without her."

Du Xiuyuan closed his eyes and sighed repeatedly. Perhaps the greatest helplessness for a doctor is being powerless to help when the patient is at their most helpless.

"Actually, there's another way we can try, it just depends on whether you're willing to try."

Su Luo called out loudly behind them, and only then did the two look at Su Luo.

"Who are you?" Wang Dayong didn't remember inviting Su Luo to his house. How did she get in?

“I am from the Chen family in Changping Village. I came to see you today about something, but unfortunately I ran into this matter.”

"I'm not in the mood to talk business right now. All I want is to save my wife and children. If you can save them, everything else can be discussed."

"Madam Su, I know you know a little about medicine. If you have any ideas, please tell me. This is a matter of life and death."

Du Xiuyuan was at his wit's end and hurriedly asked Su Luo.

"Cesarean section!"

What?

Wang Dayong and Di Xiuyuan were shocked as if they had heard something outrageous. What was the difference between cesarean section and leaving the child after the mother was removed?

"Lady Su, I wanted you to save people, not to kill them." Du Xiuyuan angrily flung his sleeves and turned away.

"I've already thought of a solution. Whether you do it or not is up to you. You only have half a quarter of an hour to consider it. If you don't decide soon, it will only result in the death of both mother and child."

Wang Dayong was caught in a dilemma. He and his wife had finally managed to have a child. The child was important, but his wife was even more important. Now, he only had one choice: zero or one. If he opened his mouth, his wife might only have one way out: death, and a painful one at that. How could he bear to do that?

"I...I...I..."

Wang Dayong was speechless for a long time. Zhang was already covered in sweat, her lips were white, and her hair was stuck to her face, making her look lifeless. She could only wake up and cry out twice when she was in labor pains.

Actually, she could hear what Su Luo and the others were saying, but she just didn't have the strength to speak.

"Husband, listen to this wife, let me have a cesarean section... let me... die, it's too... painful! Please give the child a way to live."

"Husband, there's no time left." Zhang said weakly before fainting again.

"Wife, wife!" Wang Dayong tried to shake her twice, but Zhang Shi didn't respond. His eyes were full of tears, and he cried silently.

"Save...my child, please...save...my child." Wan Dayong's voice trembled as he spoke.

"Alas, Manager Wang, I have never performed seppuku before. You should find someone more skilled."

“I’ll do it!” Su Luo said.

Both of them looked at Su Luo. Even Du Xiuyuan had lost hope in Su Luo and regretted helping her. This woman could say something like cesarean section to take a child, so he knew she was not a kind person.

"I promise the child will live." Su Luo could only guarantee the child's survival first, so that she would have an explanation if anything unexpected happened.

"Alright, Madam Su, I'm entrusting my wife and child to you." Wang Dayong had no other choice but to trust Su Luo.

"You can go out now." Turning to Du Xiuyuan, she asked, "Doctor Du, are you going out, or are you staying to help me?"

Du Xiuyuan also wanted to know how Su Luo planned to have the child; in his mind, it was a scene he dared not even imagine.

"How could I watch a living person die? Of course I'll stay here."

Du Xiuyuan just wanted to see if he could do something of modest help.

Anyway, Wang Dayong went out because he didn't dare to watch that scene. It's good that Dr. Du stayed; I'll find a way to persuade him.

"Alright, when I start, please don't disturb me if you have any questions, Dr. Du, so as not to distract me."

"I won't disturb you; I'll just take your pulse from the side." Du Xiuyuan said this with deep disgust in his tone towards Su Luo.

Su Luo ignored him; saving lives was the priority.

Zhang fainted, but when the contractions subsided, she would still instinctively twitch her body.

Su Luo moved to the bedside. In the brief moment between their conversations, she had taken the scalpel and anesthetic from her spatial storage and hidden them in her sleeve.

They pulled back Zhang's blanket and injected an anesthetic needle into her spinal cord from behind, ensuring she wouldn't feel any pain.

The scalpel was wrapped in cloth, similar to how silver needles are placed, which saved a lot of space.

Su Luo cut open Zhang's inner garment, put on gloves, and acted without the slightest hesitation.

Du Xiuyuan sat on the edge of the bed and took Zhang's pulse. His fingers dared not leave Zhang's pulse for even a moment, but why was Zhang's pulse becoming more and more strange?

Just moments ago they were struggling in pain and exhaustion, but now they are as calm as if they were asleep, the only similarity being weakness.

Then, Su Luo started to make the incision, and Zhang Shi's pulse showed no signs of pain, as if she felt nothing. What was going on?

Su Luo quickly completed the surgery. Du Xiuyuan watched as Su Luo delivered the baby via cesarean section. The baby didn't cry at first; it was only after Su Luo forcefully patted the baby's feet that it began to wail.

"Dr. Du, it's a boy. Could you take him out to the midwife? I need to save the mother in labor."
