"Madam, please have a seat."
Jet invited Shen Qing to sit down, and then sat down himself.
Those who were just standing there, ready to leave at any moment, are now willing to sit down, indicating that there is room for discussion.
A glimmer of hope ignited in Shen Qing's heart.
Holding the half-burnt inner lining fabric in his hand, Jett asked with a smile, "Madam, what do you think the material for this fabric comes from?"
Shen Qing repeated: "It is a plant essence that has been accumulated over thousands of years."
Jett immediately pressed, "What plant?"
His eagerness revealed to Shen Qing that he was only interested in the material of the lining cloth.
Even so, she still hoped to close the deal today, even if it wasn't a large order.
As the saying goes, a good start is always auspicious. She hopes that this first company she talks to will place an order, bringing good luck for what comes next.
“Mr. Jeter, I will share the materials with you later. Please try on this garment first.”
“Yes, ma’am.” Jett stood up, took off his suit jacket, and put on a down vest.
It's already June, and the afternoon temperature is as high as 20 degrees Celsius. Jet had only been wearing the clothes for a short time when he was already sweating profusely.
However, based on his long experience in the clothing business, he could still tell that the garment Shen Qing brought was extremely warm.
His judgment was not affected by the current temperature.
Her fingertips traced the texture of the vest, her sharp eyes observing Shen Qing as she asked, "Besides the plant-based ingredients you just mentioned, what is that other light, fluffy ingredient?"
Shen Qing smiled and said, "I'm sorry, sir, the order has not been signed, so I cannot disclose the ingredients."
Jet raised an eyebrow and smiled, then looked down at the vest in his hand, examining it again and again.
First, I observed its appearance but couldn't figure it out. Then I picked it up and smelled it carefully, but all I could smell was the natural pine scent, with no other aroma.
After considering for a while, he said, "Madam, I really like the dress you brought, but I can't place an order with you without knowing its composition."
As he spoke, he threw the vest on the table, his tone becoming serious: "Selling clothing of unknown composition is a crime!"
The "courtesy first, then force" approach is nothing more than an attempt to deceive people about their class background.
If you are genuinely interested in cooperating, you can specify in the order that if there are problems with the clothing composition or it fails quality inspection, the order will be automatically cancelled and double the deposit will be refunded.
I didn't want to sign the order at all, which is why I tried to scare her by talking about the raw materials.
Since there's no intention to sign a contract, why waste time?
Shen Qing chuckled sarcastically, stood up, and put the vest in the center of the table into his bag: "Mr. Jeter, I'm sorry to bother you."
She turned and left, while Jett remained seated, making no attempt to persuade her to continue the conversation.
This further demonstrates that he had no intention of cooperating at all.
Shen Qing understood and quickened her pace downstairs.
As she stepped out the door, she looked up at the sky.
The sky, which was sunny just a moment ago, has now turned gloomy again.
Behind him, Jiang Shen asked, "Is the next restaurant tomorrow morning? Shall I take you back to your hotel now?"
Shen Qing didn't want to go back to the hotel and face Cheng Zhiwen too early, so she shook her head and said, "I want to wander around by myself. You don't need to worry about me. Go back first."
Jiang Shen didn't say anything, and followed behind her, keeping a distance of four or five meters from another attendant.
Shen Qing went to Hyde Park and sat by the lake watching the swans.
She reviewed the sales pitch that afternoon.
They discovered that they had thrown out the hype too early, which only attracted the other party's greed.
Perhaps she should market the down vest as a regular garment, focusing on its warmth and affordability.
Although the raw materials will eventually need to be announced, as this is a necessary condition for entering a mature market like the UK, she still hopes to sign the orders first before making the announcement.
At least let her earn her first pot of gold so she can survive before she can think of ways to do other businesses.
Why.
On the lake, two swans are entwined, their necks intertwined, cuddling sweetly.
Shen Qing looked on with envy.
Suddenly, a weight fell on my shoulders.
She turned her head and saw Jiang Shen take off his suit jacket and cover her with it.
"It's getting cold, please don't catch a cold."
Seeing that he was only wearing a white shirt and a suit vest, Shen Qing stood up, took off her coat and handed it back to him: "Thank you, I'm not cold."
No sooner had he finished speaking than a gust of wind swept by, and it did indeed feel a bit cold.
Shen Qing rubbed her upper arms: "It does seem a bit cold, let's go back."
They walked through Hyde Park toward the hotel, as it grew darker and colder.
She turned to Jiang Shen and said, "The temperature difference in London is quite large. It was so hot when we came out at noon, but now it's as cold as winter."
Jiang Shen nodded and was about to take off his suit jacket for her to wear, but she quickly told him not to.
She ran back to the hotel, and just as she was about to arrive, a child suddenly rushed out from a roadside shop, tripping Shen Qing and causing her to fall as well.
Shen Qing quickly got up and turned around to check on the child's condition.
When they helped him up, they realized he was an Asian boy.
Shen Qing carefully examined the child—his skin was sallow and his body was so thin that it clung to his bones; he was very thin and was wearing a thin, coarse cotton coat, which made him feel cold all over.
"Can you speak Chinese?" Shen Qing asked.
The little boy nodded: "Yes, sister, I am Chinese."
Shen Qing asked with a smile, "Why are you alone on the street? Where are your parents?"
The little boy pointed to the alley across the street: "My parents are in the shop."
Shen Qing picked him up: "Okay, sister will take you home."
She carried the little boy across the road and into the dark, narrow alley.
Several Chinese children were sitting on the ground playing on both sides of the alley; they were all dressed in thin clothes and were very thin.
Behind them were rows of laundromats.
This is a small alleyway where Chinese laundromats are located, opposite the restaurant, apparently to facilitate the restaurant business.
In this era, there were no washing machines, so all the clothes and sheets had to be washed by hand. This kind of dirty and tiring work was usually only done by Chinese people who were not afraid of hardship.
Shen Qing felt a pang of sadness.
But when he thought of the laborers he met on the ship who had been sold into slavery, he felt that being able to open a laundry in London was perhaps the best situation for overseas Chinese in this era.
"Sister, my home is over there." The little boy pointed to a laundromat in the distance.
Shen Qing snapped out of her daze: "Okay, I'll take you back right away."
She quickened her pace, carrying the little boy, and slipped into a small shop in the middle of the alley.
As she parted the curtain with her arm, a foul odor, a mixture of sweat and body odor, immediately rushed out, and Shen Qing instinctively took a step back.
The little boy struggled to jump down from her arms, ran into the shop, and called out in a clear voice, "Daddy, Mommy, I'm back!"
But no one responded to him.
Shen Qing felt something was off, covered her nose, and went inside, only to be shocked by what she saw.
