Cheng Zhiwen coughed lightly, nodded her chin at the door, and said with restraint, "Wring out the towel and put it away, I'll do it myself."
Shen Qing confirmed: "If you come yourself, it's still one thousand taels?"
"Um."
Shen Qing was more than happy to oblige, so she quickly wrung out the towel, tossed it to him, and went out the door.
Jiang Shen, who was waiting outside, saw her come out empty-handed so quickly and assumed she hadn't wiped Cheng Zhiwen's body. He asked seriously, "Weren't you wiping Mr. Cheng's body? Why did you come out?"
His tone was a bit impatient, carrying a reprimanding undertone. Shen Qing felt annoyed and deliberately said, "He won't let me wipe it; he specifically asked you to go in and wipe it for him!"
Jiang Shen was taken aback and didn't say anything.
Shen Qing urged, "Hurry up and go in! He'll be angry if you're late!"
Jiang Shen said "Oh" and took a difficult step.
He Fei chuckled to himself.
Shen Qingchao winked at him, then smiled and went back to his room.
She didn't know how Cheng Zhiwen wiped her lower body afterwards. When she got back to her room, she was so tired that she fell asleep as soon as her head hit the pillow.
The next day, after waking up, Shen took a shower before going next door.
Cheng Zhiwen, dressed in a clean white shirt and black trousers, leaned against the headboard reading a book.
Shen Qing went into the room and asked, "Did you have a fever last night?"
Hearing the sound, he closed his book, looked at her, and said calmly, "No."
My face was a little swollen from just waking up, making it look rounder. My usually deep-set eyes looked a bit less sharp because of the swelling.
Sunlight refracted through the thick glass, shining on him and enveloping him in its light, making him look no different from a modern college student.
"I haven't had breakfast yet, could you go to the kitchen and make me something?"
Shen Qing snapped out of her daze: "Just have the kitchen deliver it. Why do you want me to make breakfast for you?"
"One hundred taels per meal."
Shen Qing immediately turned around and called to He Fei, "Let's go cook for him!"
He Fei followed with a smile.
"Mr. Shen, why don't you just work for Mr. Cheng!"
Shen Qing laughed: "Isn't that right? Just last night and this morning, I made 1,100 taels! In the business world, it would take a lot of effort to earn that much money!"
As he spoke, his smile faded.
In reality, she wouldn't actually calculate the money with Cheng Zhiwen; she was just using it as an excuse to take care of him.
This is to repay him for his long-term care.
Furthermore, she suspected that his money came from dubious sources. If it might be funds provided by foreign forces, then taking it would dirty her own hands.
Shen Qing was very fortunate that he had solved the funding problems himself several times during his entrepreneurial journey and had never taken Cheng Zhiwen's money.
"Boss Shen, are you making braised pork with soy sauce again this morning?" He Fei asked.
Shen Qing snapped out of her daze and looked at the meat buried in the ice.
They have pork, beef, chicken, duck, and mutton.
"Beef and mutton are definitely out of the question; they're too 'heaty' and won't help his wound heal. He just ate pork and chicken yesterday, so let's have something fresh this morning."
As Shen Qing spoke, he went to look at the frozen fish next door.
Upon discovering a sea bass, he laughed and grabbed one, saying, "Let's cook sea bass! In my hometown, we give sea bass to new mothers to help with wound healing and promote lactation!"
This is treating Cheng Zhiwen like a woman in postpartum confinement.
He Fei burst into laughter.
Shen Qing stretched out his hand: "Stop laughing, give me the silver needles!"
He Fei smiled and handed over a long silver needle.
Shen Qing selected several points on the back and belly of the fish and inserted silver needles into them.
Ever since she learned that someone on the ship was plotting to assassinate Cheng Zhiwen, she has been particularly careful in selecting ingredients.
"It should be fine." Shen Qing lifted the needle and inserted it into the last spot.
Unexpectedly, the silver needles slowly turned black.
Shen Qing showed the needle to He Fei and whispered, "This bass is poisonous!"
He Fei also looked serious. Without making a sound, he threw the sea bass into the ice and took Shen Qing's hand to wash it under the tap.
Unable to make breakfast, the two hurriedly returned to their room.
Seeing her displeasure, Cheng Zhiwen closed her book and asked calmly, "Is there a problem with the ingredients?"
Shen Qing was taken aback: "How did you know?"
“Since there are people on this ship who are plotting to kill me, there must be spies watching my every move. Last night they saw you go to the kitchen to make dinner for me, and this morning they will definitely poison the food.”
While surprised by his uncanny foresight, Shen Qing was also worried: "What do we do now? You can't keep not eating!"
He had a large chunk of flesh ripped out of his back. He couldn't go without eating, otherwise the wound wouldn't heal and the risk of infection would increase significantly.
Shen Qing said angrily, "These people really planned this all out! Even if you remove the bullet and survive, you might still suffer from poisoning or malnutrition, which could prevent your wound from healing!"
After saying that, he looked at He Fei and said, "When will the ship dock? You guys need to figure out how to get off the ship and buy fresh ingredients!"
"The ship will dock in Greece for resupply in three days."
"Three days?" Shen Qing shook his head. "No, we can't wait three days."
She suddenly remembered that there were still some things in the box, so she quickly lifted her skirt and went back to the next room.
He found the briefcase, opened it, and rummaged through it until he finally found a bag, which he presented to Cheng Zhiwen like a treasure.
The bag was opened, revealing a pile of small black squares, each about the size of a mahjong tile.
He brought it close to Cheng Zhiwen and let him smell it.
Cheng Zhiwen frowned and turned her face away: "What is it?"
Shen Qing patted the bag with a smile: "For you, this is your life-saving elixir right now!"
He Fei asked curiously, "Boss Shen, what exactly is this?"
Shen Qing took out a piece, took a bite, and said proudly, "In my hometown, this is called 'compressed biscuit' or 'military rations.' As the name suggests, it's something you eat in the wild when it's inconvenient to cook. One piece per meal can ensure your nutrition, and if you drink water, it will expand in your stomach and have a filling effect."
"That's amazing!" He Fei leaned closer to examine the bag of dark, unidentified things. "What's it made of?"
Shen Qing showed him the compressed biscuit he had taken a bite out of: "Look here, there are red dates, almonds, walnuts, peanuts, and then milk powder, flour, sugar, salt and lard were added and cooked and stirred together, and finally dried and shaped."
He Fei glanced at Cheng Zhiwen and said awkwardly, "It is indeed very nutritious."
Shen Qing said smugly, "Isn't that right? With so many nuts added, we have high-quality protein. Flour and sugar also provide carbohydrates."
After saying that, he took out a piece and handed it to Cheng Zhiwen: "You can eat this for the next three days, since you don't have anything else to eat anyway."
Cheng Zhiwen waved her hand away and turned her face away: "I won't eat it."
He looked like he was about to vomit.
Shen Qing said angrily, "What time is it and you're still being picky? If you don't eat, don't blame me if that hole in your back never closes."
After saying that, he held the compressed biscuit to his mouth again, reminding him, "If the hole can't be closed, a stinky liquid will leak out, and everyone who passes by you will smell a stench on you!"
Cheng Zhiwen swallowed hard, turned her face, gave her a resentful look, and took a bite of the cookie in her hand.
