Chapter 45: A Secondary Personality Hitchhiking
Two steps away from Fu Liangxia, Little A was leaning against the wall, looking a bit lazy. To be honest, his appearance didn't match the casual name "Little A" at all, but just leaning there like that was enough to attract attention.
She had noticed that the girls around her were looking at him vaguely.
However, when the other party heard Xu Cai's words, he lowered his eyes slightly and glanced over.
Seeing her, he raised his eyebrows slightly and spoke in a lazy tone.
"It's you," he said.
There weren't many people sitting in the private room. In the corner, a man and woman were kissing each other. Xu Cai was drunk and staggering, her hand on the male escort's shoulder. She leaned against Fu Liangxia and waved at Xiao A, "What are you standing there for? Do you need me to treat you?"
Fu Liangxia was also watching the man's movements. She was wearing the Saint Lander school uniform, with black eyes and pink lips, and her eyes were sparkling with a bright light.
He looks very well behaved and doesn't fit in here.
"How dare you?" Little A walked in with a long stride, saying, "Thank you so much, sister, for taking care of my business and always inviting me to see you drunk."
The man's tone was normal, but his content was not as pretentious as a male PR, and he didn't have the flattering feeling of the others.
It seemed as if he was the guest here.
"Go away, you just know how to irritate me! I asked you to come here today not to accompany me, but to accompany my friend." Xu Cai spat at him.
Hearing this, the man glanced at him indifferently, his expression a little subtle.
Fu Liangxia felt that she didn't want to know the meaning of this look at all.
She watched as Little A walked in and sat down next to her. She could vaguely feel his warmth and a faint fragrance. It smelled pleasant, a sweet and sour fruity scent mixed with a woody aroma, much gentler than the person himself.
Fu Liangxia found it hard to imagine that the other party actually liked this type of perfume.
She glanced at him and then looked away, staring at the wine glass on the table in front of her, in which her eyes and the other person's delicate chin were reflected.
"Xiao Xia, what time do you close the door at night?" Xu Cai asked. "You look like a good student. If you go home at two in the morning, Fu Liedong won't kill me next Monday, will he?"
Fu Liangxia smiled and said, "No."
On the contrary, he doesn't care what time he goes back.
And if she saw it correctly, Fu Liedong was clearly with Su Xingshu, and might have returned even later than her.
"You must be a good student. What's your major?" The male PR that Xu Cai was leaning against asked.
"Economics and financial mathematics." said Fu Liangxia.
"Like finance?" The white-haired man glanced at her.
Fu Liangxia was very honest: "It's okay, I mainly like the money."
This one sentence instantly amused the three people present. Even Little A, who had always had a cold face, curled his lips and a smile flashed in his eyes.
The male PR next to Xu Cai said happily, "That's true. Who doesn't like money? But you're lucky to be sitting in a classroom studying money. We can only sit here and think about how to make money."
Actually, it was a bit inappropriate to say this. However, he took advantage of the fact that the person who paid was already drunk and didn't think it was a big deal.
Fu Liangxia had risen from the bottom in her previous life, and she understood the untold hardships behind his tone. But since Xu Cai, who fell into the category of "lucky," was sitting there, she remained silent.
Little A, on the other hand, glared at him and said, "Is this a matter of luck? I'm afraid even if I give you this opportunity, you still won't understand it."
Xu Cai agreed with this: "Indeed, Xiao Xia is amazing! She got first place in the entrance exam! She even scored two points higher than Bai Xin!"
When Xiao A heard a certain word, his expression froze for a moment, then he curled his lips and looked at Fu Liangxia with a subtle expression. Perhaps he relied on the fact that he was wearing a mask and the environment was dim, so no one could see him clearly.
Only Xu Cai noticed the flash of excitement in the man's eyes at that moment. However, when she thought of his cold personality, she thought it might be her own fault.
How could Xiao A show such excitement?
In fact, they didn't play for long. Xu Cai's friends all went out to find nightlife, and she was also unconscious. She only held on for a short while before calling a driver to take her home.
Unfortunately, Xu Cai lived in Queens, which was not on Fu Liangxia's way. However, the other party generously offered to take her home.
But Fu Liangxia didn't want to trouble her, thinking that Fu Liedong was also here and they could go back together, so she refused.
Xu Cai was probably really tired, so he didn't try to keep her. He turned around, got into the car, and drove away.
The night was as cold as water. Fu Liangxia leaned against the door of the bar and sent a message to Fu Liedong, asking him if he would come back, but there was no reply for a long time.
Instead, with a roar, a jet-black motorcycle drove out from the back street of the bar. The driver, wearing a leather jacket, passed her like a gust of wind, as cool as can be.
Fu Liangxia just looked up and glanced at it before looking away. She felt a little envious in her heart and felt that it would be so cool to drive this out.
However, after a while, the car stopped and reversed, and a familiar voice rang out: "You want to go home? Which district are you going to?"
The eyes beneath the helmet were sharp as knives, and the platinum hair that was revealed was gleaming.
Fu Liangxia hesitated: "Chariot area."
"That's great, would you like a ride?" he asked.
Fu Liangxia was slightly stunned. He didn't expect that just after he envied others' coolness, such an opportunity would fall on him.
Little A put one foot on the ground and shrugged: "Anyway, I was going to the downtown area and happened to be passing by."
Fu Liangxia glanced at her phone. Fu Liedong hadn't replied to her message yet. Bian Liluo nodded and said, "Thank you. Thank you for your trouble."
"No, just consider it a free benefit for customers." He winked.
Fu Liangxia walked towards him, smiled when she heard his words, looked at him and said, "Then this benefit should be given to Xu Cai, after all, it was her who paid for it."
"She's too loud."
There was no complaint in his tone, it was just a joke, and people did not feel disgusted when they heard it.
In fact, the truth is, Xu Cai doesn't need anyone to send her, she has her own driver. But if you say that, it will inevitably make Fu Liangxia feel like a backup option.
Fu Liangxia thought, he is indeed a male PR, even though he looks a bit arrogant, his emotional intelligence is really impeccable.
She was wearing a skirt, so it was not convenient for her to sit astride the motorcycle. She wanted to sit on it sideways carefully, but suddenly a motorcycle jacket was thrown at her in front.
Fu Liangxia reached out to take it, and his eyes met the other person's eyes under the helmet through the rearview mirror: "Put it on. Sitting sideways is not in compliance with driving regulations. I don't have many points to deduct."
In fact, he was saying that sitting sideways is dangerous, but the other person's tone was humorous and it didn't feel burdensome at all.
Fu Liangxia thanked him and put it on as he was told. He was immediately wrapped in warmth with a faint scent of tobacco.
"It might have a bit of a smell, but just wear it," he said.
"Fu Liangxia."
Fu Liangxia had just sat down in the back seat when she heard someone calling her and turned around to look.
It is Fu Langshu.
He sat in the back seat, rolled down the window and asked her, "Do you want me to give you a ride?"
In the night breeze, Fu Liangxia smoothed her messy hair. She didn't understand why the other party saw her sitting in the back seat of someone else's car and asked her about it.
But considering that he was her employer, she politely declined, "No, my home is a bit far from here, and Xiao A is just on the way."
Fu Langshu was stunned for a moment, his eyes swept over the man in the front seat, and his brows furrowed slightly.
Little A? That's not...
How come it’s on the way?
But since Fu Liangxia said so, he no longer insisted.
The Porsche slowly drove away. The man in the front seat saw her steady herself, started the car, and said, "You're quite popular."
"Most of all, I want to thank you all for your kindness and friendship," she said.
A man's chuckle, carried by the wind, emanated from the front seat. "It's not very peaceful lately. Even though this is uptown, it's a crowded bar street with lots of people and eyes. It's inevitable that there will be bad guys."
"You're such a nice person."
He wasn't happy about the compliment, and said indifferently, "It's more like you're too defenseless. I told you to give me a ride and you got on. What if it's a bad guy?"
"I don't think you are," she replied.
"Really? Would a bad guy carve 'I'm a bad guy' on his face?" he said. "Don't be fooled by this face."
There seemed to be a hint of disgust towards his own appearance in his tone.
Fu Liangxia didn't understand where his low voice came from, and only answered his previous question: "If I have to say it, it's more like a sense of familiarity than thinking you're handsome."
"Crack—"
The car suddenly turned an "S" shape on the road.
His brows knitted together, as if irritated by some words, and he stopped talking. But the speed kept increasing, and Fu Liangxia felt like the wind was about to blow her head off.
Why are you suddenly angry?
She didn't understand, but wisely chose to keep her mouth shut.
The man drove his motorcycle through the night. When he passed the cross-river bridge, the night lights on it covered the entire bridge surface, which was stunningly beautiful.
He suddenly slowed down a bit.
"Isn't it beautiful?" came the male voice from the front, a little vague.
Fu Liangxia nodded and looked at the shimmering waves on the river. Countless lights were arranged above it, like a long galaxy.
"It seems that truly beautiful things don't cost money," she heard him say.
When speaking, the man was as profound as an artist.
This feeling was inexplicably familiar to her, but the inspiration was fleeting and could not be grasped.
"So if the painting a painter creates cannot surpass this beauty, what's the point of painting?"
The man's voice was very soft, as if he was whispering, or as if he was trying to find an answer.
Fu Liangxia thought about it and felt that the other party seemed to be stuck in a very deep rut.
"Can I park?" she asked.
"Hmm?" The man didn't ask her why, as if doing whatever she wanted was a normal thing.
He stopped by the bridge as he was told. Queens was eerily quiet in the early morning. Looking across the bridge, all that remained were the motorcycle, the stars, and a pair of people.
Fu Liangxia stood by the bridge and looked back at him. The surrounding lights made her eyes brighter, and she looked like she was falling into a sea of stars.
She looked at him and smiled: "Maybe it's because every second is a different scene, and the meaning of a painter's existence is to preserve the beauty of this second."
“It doesn’t matter whether it surpasses others or not, as long as it shocks people.”
The man looked at her, her appearance reflected in his eyes. After a few seconds of stunned silence, he suddenly pulled the corner of his mouth, relaxed and slumped on the railing, looking up: "You're right, remember this second is enough."
He turned his head and looked at the girl's face shining in the starry sky.
The problem that had troubled him for more than a year finally got some answers. His brows relaxed, and he suddenly felt that the bottleneck that had troubled him for a long time had loosened.
