Yan Wan has been staying with Ji Mohan in the palace for almost half a month. Ji Mohan's health is gradually improving. In order not to worry Yan Wan, he began to cooperate with the imperial physician's treatment and take his medicine obediently. He would do whatever Yan Wan asked him to do.
Except for one thing, he was just too clingy. As long as Yan Wan was out of his sight, he would go to find her, even if he was not feeling well.
He knew Yan Wan was back, and he knew his behavior would bother her. He kept telling himself not to cling to her like this, that it would annoy her, but he just couldn't control himself. He felt anxious whenever Yan Wan was out of his sight.
He was always worried that Yan Wan would disappear at any moment, but his heart told him to trust Yan Wan. He dared not gamble. What would he do if Yan Wan disappeared again?
Yan Wan had been living in the palace for a long time, and she decided to go back to the Yan family mansion to see her parents. Even if they might hate her, she still had to go back to say goodbye. After all, she had truly enjoyed their love, so she shouldn't keep running away.
Yan Wan was lost in thought, while Ji Mohan sat on the bed, flipping through a military treatise. He would glance at the treatise every few seconds and then look up at Yan Wan, afraid that if he stayed up too long, she would disappear.
"Hanhan, I want to go home and see my father and mother," Yan Wan said.
Ji Mohan paused in his book-turning hand, looked up and stared intently at Yan Wan, neither saying yes nor no. Yan Wan looked at him without speaking, and the two of them just stared at each other in silence.
"Will you come back?" Ji Mohan paused, then continued to ask.
"Yes, I will come back," Yan Wan promised earnestly.
"What if I don't want you to go? Will you hate me?"
Yan Wan was surprised that he would ask such a question. She didn't know how to answer for a moment. She knew that even though she was getting along well with Ji Mohan now, there was a thorn in his heart. Even though he didn't say it, Yan Wan knew that he resented her for leaving him.
Yan Wan lowered her head and murmured, "Hanhan, do you hate me for abandoning you back then?"
Ji Mohan gently closed the book, took Yan Wan's hands, looked sincerely into her eyes and said, "I don't hate you, Yan Wan. I just hope we won't be separated again."
Yan Wan sighed silently, looked up at the insecure Ji Mohan, and said, word by word, "Hanhan, I promise, we will never be separated again. I'm just going home to see my parents, and I'll be back in half a day."
"Yan Wan, shall I go with you?" Ji Mohan asked.
“But you’ve just recovered. What if the bumpy ride makes you even more sick? You can’t go to Hanhan, so I need half a day, okay?” Yan Wan patiently discussed it with him, like coaxing a fussy little baby.
Ji Mohan's eyes immediately dimmed. He gently closed his eyes and said coldly, "Then you shouldn't go back. I'll go back with you after I recover."
He couldn't let Yan Wan leave alone. He had to watch over her every moment. Yan Wan couldn't leave him, not even for a second.
Yan Wan looked at Ji Mohan's sudden change in attitude and said with some annoyance, "Hanhan, can't I even go back for half a day? Believe me, I will definitely come back. Okay?"
Ji Mohan looked at Yan Wan, who was somewhat angry. He stared at her without saying a word. Yan Wan glanced at him, then got up to leave. She was furious. Men just get worse the more you spoil them!
She's been staying with him in the palace for over half a month now. Can't she even go back to see her father, mother, and Gu Yu? That's outrageous!
Ji Mohan watched Yan Wan get up and leave without saying a word to him. He wanted to reach out and hold Yan Wan's hand. He wanted to tell Yan Wan that he did not want to restrict her freedom, nor did he want to prevent her from going home to see her father and mother.
He simply didn't want to be separated from her. He knew that he couldn't give Yan Wan anything now and was still a burden to her.
He hated himself for being so useless!
Yan Wan got up angrily and walked outside. When she reached the door, she couldn't help but glance at Ji Mohan. She found that he was still in the same position, not moving at all. Yan Wan sighed. Oh well, seeing his pitiful appearance, she couldn't bring herself to be cruel. Sigh, she had to spoil the man she chose.
Yan Wan sat down next to Ji Mohan's bed and relented, "Alright, alright, then will you come back with me?"
Ji Mohan looked up at Yan Wan and asked in a slightly hoarse voice, "Yan Wan, am I being too greedy?"
Was he being too greedy, which made Yan Wan dislike him? He shouldn't be so greedy. At the beginning, he just wanted Yan Wan to come back. He would be satisfied as long as he could see Yan Wan doing well from afar.
However, when Yan Wan really came back, he became more and more greedy. He only wanted Yan Wan to stay with him and wanted her to have only him in her eyes.
Seeing that Yan Wan hadn't spoken for a long time, Ji Mohan gently closed his eyes, slowly lay down with his back to her, and said in a slightly hoarse voice, "I'm sorry, Yan Wan. If you want to see your father and mother, go back and see them. I'm sure they miss you very much since you've been gone for so long. If half a day isn't enough, you can stay at the Yan residence for a few more days."
After Ji Mohan finished speaking, he felt his body protesting. He was trembling uncontrollably, and tears were about to fall from his eyes. He tried desperately to control his abnormal behavior so as not to worry Yan Wan.
Yan Wan had already noticed Ji Mohan's unusual behavior. She slowly bent down and hugged the trembling Ji Mohan. She felt that Ji Mohan's symptoms were not right, as if he had separation anxiety.
As soon as he heard that she was leaving or getting up and out of his sight, he would disregard his physical condition and struggle to get out of bed to find her.
The moment his eyes fell upon Yan Wan, he felt a sense of relief, as if he had escaped a calamity.
Yan Wan gently patted Ji Mohan's body and replied, "Our Hanhan is not greedy at all. I'm sorry, Hanhan. Let's go back to see Father and Mother together."
After hearing Yan Wan's words, Ji Mohan turned around and said softly, "But I'm not in good health and will cause you trouble. I'm just a useless person now."
"Hmph, whoever said our Hanhan is a useless person, I will definitely not let him get away with it. Our Hanhan is the bravest and most useful person." Yan Wan said, pretending to be angry.
