Chapter 94 [VIP]

Chapter Summary: Post-Marriage Extra Chapter.

"Your Majesty," Mu Qing called out from the doorway.

"Enter." Xie Xuan's voice rang out in the hall.

Mu Qing led the attending celestial maids inside. Thick gauze curtains covered the inner hall, only the outline of Xie Xuan could be vaguely seen. After Xie Xuan got up, he sat down on the edge of the bed, leaned over, and pulled the quilt up.

"Come in," Xie Xuan's voice rang out, and Mu Qing led the fairy maid inside.

The bed curtains had been drawn, revealing only a wisp of hair cascading down the edge. Since Xie Xuan and Yu Jing's marriage, they had slept side by side, their love incredibly deep. Mu Qing had grown accustomed to this. After Xie Xuan finished washing up, he went to the Xuanqiong Palace to discuss state affairs.

When Yu Jing woke up, there was no one by the bed. She got up, threw back the covers, and slowly washed herself before going to work at the Marriage Hall. She was still not used to being served by fairy maidens, so most of the time, she didn't need anyone to serve her.

“Yu Jing has been feeling tired lately. Mu Qing, please ask the physician to take a look at her,” Xie Xuan instructed Mu Qing after finishing his conversation with Laozi and the others.

"Yes," Mu Qing replied.

Yu Jing has indeed felt much more tired than usual lately, and she always feels sleepy, even though she doesn't do much work every day. She doesn't know what's wrong with her.

"Your Majesty the Heavenly Empress." Mu Qing entered with the physician and bowed to Yu Jing.

"Immortal Lord Mu Qing, what brings you here?" Yu Jing was still somewhat surprised to see Mu Qing in the Marriage Hall.

"His Majesty said that the Empress has been feeling unwell lately, so he specially sent me to invite a physician to examine her," Mu Qing replied with a bow.

Just then, the Old Man of the Moon heard the commotion and came out. Seeing the physician beside him, he quickly asked, "My dear disciple, are you feeling unwell?"

"Yes, a little," Yu Jing replied hesitantly. She was feeling a bit unwell, but it wasn't serious enough to warrant such a drastic measure. However, since she was already here, she couldn't let the trip be in vain. So, Yu Jing extended her hand for the physician to take her pulse.

The physician's expression became noticeably more serious as he took her pulse. After a long pause, a smile appeared on his face: "Congratulations, Your Majesty! Congratulations, Your Majesty!"

Yu Jing was somewhat bewildered by her reaction. The Matchmaker, however, immediately understood and patted Yu Jing's shoulder with a smile: "You're going to be a mother!"

"Huh?" Yu Jing looked at the Matchmaker in surprise, then at the physician, who nodded at her.

For a moment, she didn't know what she was feeling; it was a very subtle feeling. She unconsciously reached out and touched her stomach. She had thought about having a child with Xie Xuan, but she hadn't expected it to happen so soon.

"Immortal Lord Mu Qing, do not tell the Emperor yet. I will tell him myself when night falls."

"Yes," Mu Qing replied, and withdrew with the physician.

The Matchmaker said, "Now that you are pregnant, you can do less of these chores. I will send a letter to your senior brothers and sisters to come back."

Seemingly remembering something, he hurriedly walked outside and said, "Oh right, I have to go tell Zhelan the good news right away. Zhelan will definitely be happy to know!"

After the Old Man of the Moon left, the hall fell silent again. Yu Jing gently touched her belly, finding it hard to believe that she was pregnant with Xie Xuan's child.

When Mu Qing returned to Xie Xuan's side, Xie Xuan immediately asked about Yu Jing: "How is she? Is she alright?"

Mu Qing bowed and lowered her brows, replying softly, "Your Majesty, the physician has examined her and said that the Empress is fine and just needs more rest."

"Oh," Xie Xuan replied, thinking he should try to make things less difficult for her in the future.

After dinner, the two bathed and washed up, then lay on the couch, Xie Xuan holding her. Yu Jing thought for a moment and said, "Xie Xuan."

"Mm," Xie Xuan responded softly.

I'm pregnant.

Xie Xuan looked down at Yu Jing, his eyes filled with surprise: "Really?"

"Of course, I only found out today when the physician took my pulse," Yu Jing replied with a smile. The next second, she felt a warm sensation on her abdomen as Xie Xuan's hand rested on it.

"I'm going to be a father!" Xie Xuan said, his voice brimming with undisguised happiness.

"Did the physician say whether the child is a boy or a girl?" Xie Xuan then asked.

"It's still early in the pregnancy," Yu Jing replied with a smile.

"So, do you want a boy or a girl?"

"Hmm, boy or girl is fine, what about Your Majesty?"

"I want a girl, preferably one who looks like you, fair-skinned and tender, as cute as a little glutinous rice ball."

As the months progressed, because Yu Jing was a spirit with a different immortal root, she suffered more during her pregnancy than other immortal spirits. Xie Xuan felt sorry for her and spent more time with her while having the physician watch over her.

As night fell, Yu Jing lay in bed feeling unwell and unable to sleep. She turned over slightly, and Xie Xuan woke up. He habitually covered Yu Jing's slightly protruding belly and stroked it, asking, "Did he bother you again?"

"Mmm," Yu Jing responded. After the pregnancy progressed further, the physician was able to use magic to determine the sex of the fetus, and Yu Jing was carrying a boy.

"When this kid gets out, I'm going to teach him a lesson," Xie Xuan said softly.

Yu Jing was amused and felt a little hungry, so she said to Xie Xuan, "Xie Xuan, I'm craving some sour rice noodles from the mortal realm."

"Alright, I'll take you there," Xie Xuan replied. He then helped Yu Jing to her feet and dressed her in thick clothes. It was winter in the mortal realm, and the weather was bitterly cold.

Yu Jing was already dressed in thick clothes, but Xie Xuan felt it wasn't enough, so he brought over a white fox fur cloak for Yu Jing to wear. Yu Jing was so bundled up that she could barely move, and laughed, "Aren't I wearing a bit too much?"

“No, it’s winter in the mortal realm right now, and it’s nighttime, so you should dress warmly.” Yu Jing looked up and saw Xie Xuan muttering to her with a cool expression. She tiptoed up and kissed the corner of his lips.

Xie Xuan was taken aback, then lowered his head and deepened the kiss. After the kiss, he whispered to Yu Jing, "The little bunny is being naughty, she knows how to tease people!"

Yu Jing teased, "It's just my own husband I'm flirting with, it's nothing!"

"You still want to provoke others?" Xie Xuan asked, sounding slightly aggrieved.

Yu Jing realized she had said the wrong thing, so she leaned forward and kissed Xie Xuan's cheek.

Xie Xuan smiled helplessly and shook his head. If she weren't pregnant, he really wanted to... Never mind, taking her to the mortal realm to eat is more important.

The snow was heavy in the mortal realm, and everything as far as the eye could see was white. There were very few stalls in the night market. Xie Xuan helped Yu Jing walk in the snow, holding an umbrella for her. Seeing that the snow was deep, he asked worriedly, "Are your feet cold? Are your shoes and socks wet?"

Yu Jing shook her head. The two of them walked around but didn't see any sour rice noodle stalls or shops. Yu Jing was a little disappointed, after all, she had come all this way just to eat sour rice noodles. Xie Xuan turned his head and noticed Yu Jing's slightly disappointed mood. He handed the umbrella to Yu Jing, who looked at Xie Xuan with some confusion, but still took the umbrella.

"Where are you going?" Yu Jing asked as Xie Xuan was about to leave.

"Wait a moment, I'll be right back," Xie Xuan replied with a smile. Yu Jing watched as Xie Xuan walked to a wonton shop a little further away and spoke a few words to the shopkeeper. He even pointed to her standing in the snow. After a while, Yu Jing saw Xie Xuan running towards her with a smile.

"No sour rice noodles, how about sour soup wontons?" Xie Xuan jogged up to Yu Jing, slightly out of breath, and asked. He was dressed in a magnificent black robe, over which he wore a fluffy mink cloak, which made him look even more noble. Snowflakes fell on him, highlighting his handsome features. Despite all this, he still jogged over to ask her such a question. Yu Jing felt her heart soften terribly and nodded with a smile, "Okay."

Xie Xuan helped Yu Jing walk towards the wonton shop, and Yu Jing asked in a low voice, "What did you say to the shopkeeper?"

"My wife is pregnant and craves sour foods. Could you make me a bowl of sour soup?" Xie Xuan said, reaching out to touch Yu Jing's hand. Yu Jing's hand wasn't cold, but compared to Xie Xuan's warm hand, it was still cold, so Xie Xuan naturally warmed it for her.

The two walked into the shop. Because it was late at night, there were only the two of them in the shop. Xie Xuan gave the shopkeeper a silver ingot and asked him to bring up a charcoal brazier. He also ordered some other snacks.

They sat by the window, where the charcoal brazier kept them warm, so they opened a small hole in the window to let in some fresh air. Just as they were waiting for the innkeeper to bring their food, they heard a noise from the attic. Looking up, they saw a baby carrying a rag doll coming down from the attic. Upon seeing Yu Jing and Xie Xuan, the baby stopped moving on the stairs, staring intently at Xie Xuan and Yu Jing.

After a while, he finally spoke in a childish voice, "Daddy, I'm hungry, I want to eat wontons!"

"Hey!" The shopkeeper came out from the kitchen when he heard the sound. Seeing that he was dressed in thin clothes, he hurriedly said, "Go and put on some more clothes before coming down!"

"Okay," the baby responded, obediently huffing and puffing as he went upstairs again. When he came down again, he was wearing a thick coat and looked chubby.

The shopkeeper went over and hugged him. Seeing Xie Xuan and Yu Jing watching, he said apologetically, "I'm sorry."

"It's alright," Xie Xuan replied with a smile.

The shopkeeper carried the doll to the table next to them and then went back to the kitchen to get busy.

"Brother, sister, so beautiful!" The baby had gotten off the stool at some point, still staring at them. As she spoke, she unconsciously touched the doll in her hand, seemingly a little nervous.

Yu Jing looked at him and greeted him with a smile, "Would you like to eat with us?"

"Okay." The baby nodded and quietly crawled to the spot next to Yu Jing.

When the shopkeeper brought out the food, he saw that the child had already reached Yu Jing's side. He shook his head helplessly and put the food down, saying, "Please enjoy your meal, sir."

Just as they were about to take the child back, Yu Jing spoke up at the right moment: "Let him eat with us, it's quite boring for him to eat alone."

The shopkeeper then put the child down and carefully instructed, "Sister, you are pregnant, be careful not to hurt her."

"Oh, okay." The doll nodded in response, pretending to understand.

When the shopkeeper returned to the kitchen, he looked at Yu Jing with a serious expression and asked, "Sister, what does it mean...that you are pregnant?"

Yu Jing thought of how obediently he had responded just now, and seeing his bewildered look now, she couldn't help but laugh: "It's just that there's a little brother in your sister's belly."

The baby was curious and stared at Yu Jing's slightly large belly. After thinking for a while, he reached out and touched Yu Jing's belly, saying in a very serious manner, "Good boy!"

Xie Xuan looked at them and felt a strange sense of warmth. Outside the window, snow was falling in white, and it was extremely cold, but inside it was warm as spring, filled with the aroma of food.

The sour soup wontons tasted very good. Yu Jing ate a whole bowl and felt very satisfied. After the two of them finished eating, they said goodbye to the baby and the shopkeeper, left the shop, and returned to the palace.

Xie Xuan helped Yu Jing remove her cloak and clothes, then carried her to sit on the couch. Yu Jing looked at Xie Xuan, who was half-kneeling in front of her, wondering what he was going to do. The next second, Xie Xuan had already taken off her shoes and socks. Xie Xuan's warm hands enveloped her cold feet. Xie Xuan looked up at her, seemingly with a hint of reproach: "You said you weren't cold."

Knowing she was in the wrong, Yu Jing sat quietly. Xie Xuan used magic to conjure a basin of hot water, and Yu Jing put her feet into the hot water, which warmed her up.

After that, Xie Xuan often took Yu Jing to the mortal realm in the middle of the night to eat delicious food. It wasn't that the food in the heavenly court was bad, but the two of them were really happy and satisfied when they went out at night.

"Your Majesty, the Empress is about to give birth!" Mu Qing rushed into the palace to deliver the message, but before she could finish speaking, Xie Xuan had already disappeared from sight.

"Yu Jing." When Xie Xuan arrived at Yuqing Palace, a group of physicians were waiting outside the hall. Ze Lan, Yue Lao, and Li'er were all there. Listening to the sounds of childbirth inside the hall, Xie Xuan felt very anxious.

He circled the door twice, but finally couldn't resist pushing it open. The physicians hurriedly stepped forward and said, "Your Majesty, you mustn't! This is against the rules!"

Xie Xuan raised his hand and brushed the physician aside: "What rules and regulations? This lord is the rule."

Upon entering the hall, Yu Jing was covered in sweat, and her voice was extremely shrill. Xie Xuan's heart trembled, and he knelt down beside the bed, grasping Yu Jing's hand: "Yu Jing."

Yu Jingyuan felt unbearable pain, but seeing Xie Xuan seemed to lessen her suffering. When she heard the child crying, tears streamed down her face uncontrollably.

"Congratulations, Your Majesty! Congratulations, Empress!"

The servants all knelt down to congratulate them, but Xie Xuan ignored them, only reaching out to wipe away the tears from Yu Jing's eyes. Yu Jing looked at Xie Xuan; he didn't need to say anything, she could see the emotion in his eyes at a glance. She smiled at Xie Xuan, indicating that he was alright, and then fell into a deep sleep.

Xie Xuan sent someone out to report that everything was safe and sound, and then stayed by Yu Jing's side until almost nightfall.

"Your Majesty, the Goddess Zelan requests an audience." Mu Qing's voice echoed into the hall. Xie Xuan glanced at Yu Jing, who was sleeping soundly, and got up to leave.

Zhelan was waiting at the door with a food box in her hand. When Xie Xuan came out, she handed the food box to him.

Xie Xuan looked at Ze Lan with some confusion.

“She just gave birth and is weak. This is just a small token of my appreciation. Please feed it to her,” Zhelan said, then asked, “Is she alright?”

"Thank you, Goddess Zhelan." Xie Xuan reached out and took it. "She is still asleep. The physician has examined her. She is a little weak, but there is nothing seriously wrong."

"That's good then." Zhelan replied, then took out a small box from her bosom. "I have to go to the underworld tomorrow. This is for the little prince, so you can give it to him as well."

"Thank you, Your Majesty." Xie Xuan thanked you again and reached out to accept it.

"Then I'll head back to Zhelan Palace first. Please take good care of her," Zhelan instructed.

"good."

Xie Xuan saw Zhe Lan off and returned to the hall. He first opened the small box, inside which was a Xuanbing Longevity Lock. The lock was transparent; immortals are known for their longevity, so the lock was engraved with the words "Peace and Prosperity." Xie Xuan put the lock back in the small box, then opened the food box. The moment the food box was opened, the hall was filled with the fragrance of orchids. Xie Xuan paused when he smelled the orchid fragrance. Zhe Lan's true form was an orchid; he had actually used his own true form to brew medicine for Yu Jing!

Xie Xuan stood there stunned for a while, then carried the bowl of medicine back to the bedside. Yu Jing was still asleep. Xie Xuan hesitated for a moment, then prepared to feed the medicine to Yu Jing first. However, Yu Jing was asleep and couldn't swallow much. So Xie Xuan drank it himself and then fed it to Yu Jing. Looking at Yu Jing's appearance, Xie Xuan felt a lump in his throat.

In her hazy state, Yu Jing only felt a strong fragrance of orchids on her lips and teeth. She woke up in Xie Xuan's arms in the middle of the night, feeling very refreshed. Xie Xuan noticed her movement and suddenly jumped up: "Awake?"

"Mmm," Yu Jing responded, but before she could finish speaking, Xie Xuan's kiss had already landed on her lips.

"You scared me to death." Xie Xuan's voice had a noticeably heavy nasal tone.

"You cried?" Yu Jing asked tentatively with a smile.

"Hmm." Xie Xuan didn't try to hide anything and responded directly.

Yu Jing raised her hand, cupped Xie Xuan's face, and gave him a comforting kiss.

"Where's the child?" Yu Jing asked, only now remembering the child.

"The child is fine, get some rest. We'll have someone bring him over first thing tomorrow morning."

"Mother!" Yu Jing was reading in the hall when she heard a familiar voice outside. She knew it was her little devil returning. Looking up at the door, she saw Xie Zhifan running in.

He wore a longevity lock given to him by Zelan around his neck, which jingled as he ran.

"Mother!" Xie Zhifan called out again and ran towards Yu Jing.

"My father praised me for reciting the text fluently today and said he would reward me by taking me to the mortal world to see the lanterns," Xie Zhifan excitedly told Yu Jing.

"Mommy, would you like to come along?"

"Okay." Yu Jing responded, touching Xie Zhifan's face. Just as she finished speaking, Xie Xuan came in from the doorway.

"Today is the Lantern Festival in the mortal realm. Zhi Fan has never been to the mortal realm before, so I was thinking of taking him for a stroll." Xie Xuan looked at Yu Jing, seemingly waiting for her consent.

"Okay," Yu Jing replied, bending slightly to Xie Zhifan, "Shall we change our clothes and then go?"

"Okay!" Xie Zhifan replied happily.

Xie Xuan instructed from the side: "When you go to the mortal world, you must call me Father and your mother Mother. Also, you must not use magic and you must not tell anyone that you are from heaven."

"Understood." Xie Zhifan nodded excitedly.

He had wanted to go to the mortal realm for a long time, but his father never took him, saying he was too young. His father, however, often took his mother with him. Although his father would bring him trinkets from the mortal realm each time he returned, and the trinkets were very interesting, Xie Zhifan wanted to see them for himself.

When the group arrived in the mortal realm, they were setting off fireworks. The sound was very loud, and Xie Zhifan was startled at the first bang, but as soon as he saw the fireworks in the sky, he became completely absorbed in them.

After watching the fireworks, the group headed out onto the street. Xie Zhifan, who had never seen anything like it before, frolicked ahead of them.

Xie Xuan led Yu Jing behind them.

"Father, I want this!" Xie Zhifan suddenly pointed at the candied hawthorns and turned to look at them. Xie Xuan led Yu Jing forward, took out some silver and said to the vendor, "Take two skewers."

"Alright." The vendor took two skewers, and Xie Xuan reached out and took them. He gave one to Xie Zhifan and the other to Yu Jing. Yu Jing smiled and took them.

"Boom!" Fireworks burst forth in the sky, dazzling and beautiful.

Another round of fireworks has begun.
