Chapter 80 Landing and New Cage
——<A dividing line =_=>
The yacht finally quietly entered a private dock in the early hours of the morning.
There was no grand farewell, no noise from the guests, as if the thrilling auction and game last night was just a collective hallucination.
Su Yan followed Huo Shen onto solid ground. The salty, damp sea breeze gave way to the unique urban atmosphere, a mixture of dust and desire. The dock was brightly lit, and several black cars, like silent beasts, waited for their owners.
Huo Shen didn't look at him and walked straight to the limousine in the middle. A bodyguard opened the door for him.
Su Yan hesitated for a moment, unsure of what to do. Return to that so-called "home"? Or...
"Get in the car."
Huo Shen's voice came from inside the car, leaving no room for doubt.
Su Yan pursed his lips, bent down and sat in. The interior of the car was surprisingly spacious, and the leather seats exuded a cool scent, exactly the same as the scent on Huo Shen. He was placed in the seat opposite Huo Shen, like a piece of temporary luggage.
The car door closed, isolating the outside world. The vehicle started smoothly and drove away from the dock.
Huo Shen leaned back in his chair, eyes closed, seemingly having no intention of speaking. Su Yan was also content with silence. He cast his gaze at the rapidly passing street scene outside the window, the city's neon lights casting flickering shadows on his face.
He didn't know where his destination was, but he was sure that it would not lead to freedom.
"That USB drive," Huo Shen suddenly said, his eyes still closed, his voice was particularly clear in the closed compartment, "You can keep it."
Su Yan's heart tightened and he looked at him.
"I'm sure you've already read the contents." Huo Shen slowly opened his eyes, his deep gaze falling on Su Yan, with a sharp insight that seemed to see through everything. "Zhou Mingchen is finished, but the threads behind him haven't been completely severed yet."
Su Yan remained silent, a gesture of acquiescence. He clenched his hands on his knees. The bottle of shower gel containing the USB drive was now among the few pieces of luggage that Huo Shen's men had taken out for him.
"Su Chen," Huo Shen pronounced the name in a calm tone, but it made Su Yan's back subconsciously straighten. "How much he participated in and how much he knew still needs to be clarified."
Su Yan finally couldn't help but speak: "You... don't doubt that it's my brother..."
"Suspicion?" Huo Shen twitched the corner of his mouth, a smile that didn't quite reflect his smile. "In the face of absolute evidence and interests, suspicion is the most useless emotion. Su Chen is stupid, but not stupid enough to completely trust someone like Zhou Mingchen. He's just a used knife at best."
His analysis was calm and cruel, stripping the so-called brotherhood of its valueless value in the face of interests. Su Yan felt a mixture of emotions, relieved that Su Chen might not be the mastermind, but also saddened by this naked reality.
"Then what do you plan to do with him?" Su Yan asked.
Huo Shen looked at him with a hint of amusement in his eyes: "What? Still care about you, my 'brother'?"
Su Yan turned his face away: "I just don't want to get into unnecessary trouble." He couldn't explain his complex and weak emotional connection that came from his original body's memories.
Huo Shen seemed to accept his statement and said calmly: "It depends on his choice and...your value."
This sentence was like a needle, gently pricking Su Yan. His value was always like the sword of Damocles hanging over his head.
The car finally drove into an apartment complex located in the most luxurious area in the city center, passed through the strict access control, and went directly into the exclusive elevator hall of the underground garage.
The elevator goes directly to the top floor.
When the door of the apartment opened, even Su Yan was slightly shocked by the scene before him.
This isn't a traditional home; it's more like a private space steeped in modern artistry. Minimalist decor, dominated by black, white, and gray, and vast floor-to-ceiling windows offer a dazzling panorama of the city, as if the entire bustling world is at your feet. It's cold and empty, and every piece of furniture and furnishing is priceless, yet it exudes a sense of distance and distance.
"You'll live here from now on." Huo Shen took off his suit jacket and threw it casually on the sofa, his movements as natural as if he had returned home.
Su Yan stood at the door, feeling a little helpless: "Here..."
"One of my businesses." Huo Shen walked to the wine cabinet and poured himself a glass of wine. "It's more convenient than the previous place."
Su Yan immediately understood his implication. This place was more central and easier to monitor. From a gorgeous canary cage, he had moved to a more modern, invisible prison.
A butler and a servant appeared quietly and took the luggage with light and well-trained movements.
Huo Shen held the wine glass, walked up to Su Yan, and handed him a black door card.
"This is your access card. You can freely enter and exit this floor of the apartment and the limited public areas downstairs." He paused, then added, "You will be accompanied by an assistant."
The so-called "assistant" naturally combines surveillance and protection.
Su Yan took the cold card, which represented limited freedom and invisible shackles.
"Remember your current identity, Su Yan." Huo Shen approached him and said in a low voice, "My accomplice, and...a guest staying here temporarily."
He deliberately emphasized the words "temporary" and "guest" to remind Su Yan of the subtlety and uncertainty of his status.
"Have a good rest." Huo Shen took one last look at him, drank the glass of wine in one gulp, then turned around and walked towards the study, as if he still had some official business to deal with.
Su Yan stood alone in the middle of the empty and somewhat cold living room, holding the door card in his hand.
Outside the window are thousands of lights, dazzling and bright, but none of them belongs to him.
He stepped out of a whirlpool into a new battlefield that seemed calm but actually had more turbulent undercurrents.
He took a deep breath, walked to the floor-to-ceiling window, and looked down at the city below.
Huo Shen gave him limited freedom, but also gave him a more dangerous position - an accomplice.
This means that he is no longer passively enduring, but needs to actively participate in the next game.
He touched the mobile phone in his pocket, which still had limited functions, and thought of the bottle of shower gel in his luggage.
The USB flash drive is his bargaining chip and also his death warrant.
He had to find out as soon as possible what Huo Shen meant by "the game has just begun".
And what role does Su Chen play in this game of chess?
New cage, new rules.
And he must learn as soon as possible how to find a real way to survive under these rules.
