Before long, Yan Li was thrown in front of a dead snake by Wen Shaoxing. Instantly, a nauseating smell of blood rushed into her nostrils.
Judging from its color and size, the dead snake was indistinguishable from the black snake that had wrapped around her neck.
"Your Highness, I swear to God, this was absolutely not my doing," Yan Li said hastily, looking at the snake that had been broken into several pieces, its head and tail separated.
She wouldn't be so monstrous; cutting it in half would have been enough. This is at least seven pieces; even the head has been split in two.
Torture?
A word popped into her mind.
Wen Shaoxing lowered his eyes, looking at Yan Li who was eager to distance himself from the situation, his expression dark and unreadable: "Of course I know it wasn't you who did it."
Yan Li couldn't help but look up: ?
What does this mean? She didn't do it, yet they're putting her in this position? Does her mission include protecting this snake?
Seeing that Yan Li was still puzzled, Wen Shaoxing mercifully continued:
"Little Black has been with me for three years. I have fed it well and provided it with good food and drink. It has always obeyed my every word."
Yan Li: So? This has something to do with her?
"But ever since it came into contact with you last time, it has been disobedient and has been plotting to escape from my side."
"This time, it was because you heard your voice that you bit me."
He slowly crouched down, reached out and grasped Yan Li's chin, his eyes deep, a slight smile playing on his lips.
"Do you think it deserved to die?"
Hearing this, Yan Li felt a chill run down her spine, blinked involuntarily, and readily agreed, "He truly deserves to die."
"But this has nothing to do with my subordinates, does it?"
She spoke tentatively, her eyes full of sincerity.
But Wen Shaoxing wasn't in a good state right now. His eyes were fixed on Yan Li's face, and a smile played on his lips: "How could it not be related?"
"It only started misbehaving after it saw you."
What a huge hat!
Yan Li suddenly felt a heaviness in her head, and she could barely straighten her back. She even felt like burying herself in a hole.
"Perhaps, Your Highness has misunderstood it?" Yan Li found even swallowing extremely difficult, and it took him a long time to finally utter the words.
Are you also trying to say that I misunderstood you?
Wen Shaoxing's smile deepened slightly, but his eyes held only coldness, or more accurately, a fleeting killing intent.
The pointed remarks and deliberate questioning seemed to be meant to show that Yan Li had already betrayed his master.
It is said that serving a ruler is like serving a tiger, and now Yan Li has truly come to understand the meaning of this saying. He is indeed unpredictable in his moods.
"No, that's not what I meant. It's just that I don't have any special abilities, so how could I possibly make a snake suddenly change its mind?"
"Furthermore, if I truly possess this ability, wouldn't everyone who has worked with me over the years be suspects?"
"Perhaps even the prince..."
The mouth runs in front, while the brain chases behind.
Yan Li was determined to go together with everyone, hand in hand on the road to the underworld, regardless of whether they were relatives or friends, no one would be able to stay out of it.
Wen Shaoxing was probably not expected that Yan Li would say such a thing. He was slightly stunned for a moment, chuckled, and then gradually let go of her hand, stood up and moved to the side of the bed.
With her eyes lowered, Yan Li unsurprisingly took in all of his limping steps.
"She certainly has a silver tongue."
Yan Li immediately lowered her head even further, afraid that he would react and slap her. She only wanted to get out of the room unharmed.
However, she underestimated Wen Shaoxing's purpose in calling her in.
With her head down, Yan Li felt a gaze fall on the top of her head.
"Come here." The voice was much clearer and brighter than before, completely unlike the sinister tone from before.
Upon hearing this, Yan Li looked up and saw Wen Shaoxing looking at her with a smile on his lips, as if he had thought of something interesting. He beckoned with his fingertips slightly.
Yan Li: "..."
Don't be silly, it's really scary.
She looked closely at the bed, then at the person behind him, and only after confirming that he wouldn't suddenly pull out a sword did she feel a little more at ease and walk towards him.
Finally, he stopped again three meters away from the bed. Yan Li opened his mouth, about to speak.
"Are you keeping such a distance because you're afraid I'll strangle you?" Wen Shaoxing seemed dissatisfied with Yan Li's current aloofness, his tone carrying a hint of mockery. "Don't force me to personally arrest you again."
