Yan Li clearly did not take Wen Hao's previous words to heart, nor did she intend to. How could someone you didn't love in life fall in love with after death?
She just wanted to finish her mission as soon as possible and then become a free and unfettered ghost.
She's not suited to be the protagonist in this kind of love story between a human and a ghost, since she's always thinking about biting his head off.
But Wen Hao seemed to have been stimulated by something, staring intently at her, his lips slightly parted, "A Li wants to leave me?" He chuckled softly, but his hand tightly gripped her chin.
"Get rid of that idea as soon as possible; it's not possible."
"Ah Li, I won't let go."
As Wen Hao spoke, he lowered his head slightly and kissed Yan Li, who looked somewhat shocked.
He didn't smell the dead smell in Yan Li's mouth, and even took it as her way of disgusting herself and avoiding him. He couldn't help but bite her lip and pry open her teeth.
"Since Ali mentioned our wedding night three years ago, why don't we make up for the last thing?"
A dark light flickered in his eyes, but his fingers reached for her waist, beginning to unbutton her clothes and slowly probing inside, causing Yan Li to instinctively flinch.
"You're crazy!" Yan Li really didn't expect Wen Hao to do something so inhuman. She didn't care whether she would hurt herself, and twisted every bone in her body, trying to get out of his arms.
"I'm not crazy, Ah Li. I've already lost you once, do you want to watch me lose you a second time?" Wen Hao's hand trembled slightly as he saw Yan Li's twisted bones, but he finally let go of her and watched her run away.
"I will find a way to bring you back to life, I just ask that you don't leave me, Ali."
Wen Hao was a scholar, and most of the time he exuded a refined and elegant air. But at this moment he looked like a madman who had crawled out of a ditch, making people afraid to approach him or even recognize him.
Who cares?
"Haven't you already confined me to this mansion?"
"You're really something, saying all these high-sounding words to a ghost like me. Only my parents didn't see through your true colors."
Yan Li's words sounded very familiar to Wen Hao, yet they were also quite jarring.
Perhaps because she had become a ghost, Yan Li was much braver than when she was alive. She spoke out the words that had been buried in her heart for a long time without any hesitation.
Even though Wen Hao had anticipated this, he was still feeling uneasy at this moment.
"Your true colors? Ah Li, I never intended to covet your wealth. What I've always sought has always been..."
Before Wen Hao could speak, Yan Li seemed to guess what he was going to say and immediately interrupted, "It's even more unacceptable to covet me!"
Wen Hao slowly lowered his head, looking like a pitiful dog that had fallen into the water. He couldn't even lick his own fur and could only huddle in the corner, feeling utterly dejected.
But Yan Li didn't believe it and was about to float out to find the crooked tree when, unexpectedly, a strong force came from behind. When she came to her senses, she was already being hugged by Wen Hao again.
What if I insist on pursuing it?
"Doesn't Ali want to know the truth? I can help Ali investigate."
Yan Li, however, understood the deeper meaning in Wen Hao's words, and her tone inevitably carried a hint of sarcasm, "Wasn't it you who caused this back then?"
Wen Hao was unusually silent, resting his chin on Yan Li's shoulder and leaning gently against her.
Their bodies were pressed tightly together, one cold and the other hot. He felt Yan Li's heartless body in his arms, and after a long while, he slowly said:
“Ah Li, if I could, I would rather it was me who died that day.”
