The room was eerily dark without any lights on.
The two lanterns hanging at the door resembled the eyes of a large, ferocious beast, while the door itself was the opening leading to its entrails; taking even one step inside would risk being swallowed whole.
"Wen Hao, calm down. Think about it, how could I possibly poison myself?" Seeing that she was about to be dragged into the study, Yan Li could no longer remain calm. She wished she could cling to the door and become one with it.
However, how could Wen Hao remain calm?
He turned around and looked at Yan Li, who was blocking him from closing the door. His thin lips were slightly pursed, but his fingers ruthlessly pulled her into his arms, and he slowly spoke.
"Yan Li, you look very guilty right now."
Falling into a familiar embrace, Yan Li felt as if the sky had fallen, and her mind went through a mental storm.
Wen Hao chuckled softly and closed the door without hesitation.
He underestimated his wife.
How could he forget? How could someone who used to despise him suddenly change their personality overnight, become dependent on him, and even be willing to marry him?
By the time Yan Li reacted, Wen Hao had already impatiently placed her on the bed, lifted her up in front of the desk, pressed her between her legs, and said in a slightly hoarse voice:
"Yan Li, as long as you tell me it wasn't you, I will believe you."
Before I knew it, his eyes had reddened again.
Even the hand gripping her shoulder was trembling.
Wen Hao recalled her harsh words and couldn't help but laugh at himself for being delusional and exhausting all his efforts to keep her here.
But from the very beginning, all she wanted was to leave, even at the cost of her life. No, perhaps she originally intended to poison him, but…
The tension in Wen Hao's heart snapped. He reached out and covered Yan Li's eyes. "Fine, you're not allowed to say anything."
He couldn't help but deceive himself.
A tickling sensation came from his palm, and Wen Hao's hand trembled, but he still turned his head very forcefully, picked her up, and carried her into the inner room.
As Yan Li gradually regained her senses, she panicked, "Wen Hao, put me down first!"
"Let you go? And then watch you leave me? Yan Li, in your eyes, am I just a fool?"
Wen Hao pulled the person in his arms off the bed and then climbed on top of her, his movements swift and forceful, leaving her with nowhere to retreat.
Just when Yan Li thought Wen Hao was about to do something indescribable, the man in front of her was looking at her, and a dagger suddenly appeared in his palm.
The cold light was especially eerie at night.
"I never intended to poison you!" Yan Li panicked upon seeing the gleaming dagger, and mumbled those words.
Upon hearing this, Wen Hao visibly stiffened, staring at Yan Li for a long while before finally opening his mouth: "Really?" He tightened his grip on the dagger.
Just now.
He almost cut the red rope binding the two of them.
Yan Li never imagined that she had lost a chance to gain her freedom. She simply grabbed his hand, snatched the dagger from his grasp, and hurriedly threw it off the bed.
“Of course.” She breathed a sigh of relief. “I didn’t mean to lie to you, but I myself don’t believe I would commit suicide.”
Unexpectedly, Wen Hao couldn't wait for Yan Li to finish speaking, and his eyes darkened even more: "So you'd rather die than be with me?"
Wen Hao glanced at the dagger under the bed out of the corner of his eye, and moved slightly, about to take action.
After a moment of silence, Yan Li finally couldn't hold back. She reached out and controlled Wen Hao's head, looking him in the eye: "Who would want to die if they could live? Besides, I'm so rich, how could I possibly be so foolish?"
"Because you don't want to be with me." At this moment, Wen Hao's mind was filled with the thought that Yan Li had abandoned him and left him behind.
If he hadn't insisted, she would have already disappeared somewhere by now.
Yan Li retorted without hesitation: "Then that's even more impossible. Even if I didn't want to be with you, I should poison you! Poison myself and leave my fortune to you?"
What sweet dream are you having?
Perhaps due to her emotions, Yan Li's words were particularly blunt and harsh.
Wen Hao: "..."
He's gone mad.
They actually believed Li Xiangrong and were completely bewitched by Yan Menghuai's words.
"But..." You are indeed poisoned.
"Wen Hao, I may have a bad memory, but I'm not stupid," Yan Li thought for a moment, then chuckled softly, looking at the man and leaning down.
“If I didn’t like you, I wouldn’t have agreed to marry you, much less poison you after the marriage. At most, I would have kicked you out of the Yan family.”
Wen Hao stared blankly at Yan Li in front of him.
Three years are approaching.
He couldn't help but think of all the things Li Xiangrong had said to him over the years. He really was a good-for-nothing, knowing nothing. What right did he have to receive her love?
Seeing that Wen Hao didn't speak, Yan Li realized the reason and waved her hand in front of his eyes, "Are you stupid?"
But Wen Hao didn't respond. Instead, he suddenly hugged her, as if grasping at the last straw.
In the darkness, Yan Li didn't speak, but simply let Wen Hao hold her, a slight smile playing on her lips.
