"Why did Ah Yan suddenly remember that?"
On the way back to the castle, Wen Ze still didn't remove the cloth covering Yan Li's eyes, nor did he give Yan Li a chance to remove it herself.
"Perhaps...perhaps I've never forgotten, perhaps I've always remembered?"
After what seemed like an eternity, long enough that Wen Ze was about to think Yan Li hadn't heard his question, she finally spoke.
Yan Li still held the dagger in her hand. If she wanted to, she could probably kill this person easily right now.
Unfortunately, she had no such intention, and Wen Ze also happened to know that Yan Li would not kill him.
Wen Ze paused for a moment, a faint smile curving his lips: "So A-Yan has always had me in her heart, right?"
"Just like how you willingly took that mute pill so that your father would spare my life."
When he was universally disliked, even he himself began to despise him, and he wanted to give up on his life, she stood up and told him the cruel truth.
It was at that moment that he realized he was still worthy of living.
His father's death was not his fault, nor was it because he was an evil spirit, but because of the high and mighty king.
Yan Li stopped talking and simply rested her head on Wen Ze's shoulder.
Wen Ze didn't say anything either, and his pace quickened considerably.
After an unknown amount of time, Wen Ze stopped, and a hurried voice came from beside him: "Lord, are you alright? Why are you bleeding so much..."
The butler stared at Wen Ze, who was almost covered in blood, then his gaze fell on Yan Li, who lay motionless in his arms, and his pupils dilated in shock:
"Madam, Madam, what happened to you..."
His voice was almost choked with emotion, and he even reached out his hand, as if to take it from Wen Ze, but not quite.
"I shouldn't have let the lady out."
"My lord, it's not that I'm criticizing you, but keeping the lady locked up in the castle would have prevented any accidents. You insisted on playing some kind of romantic game with her, which is..."
"Shut up, she's not dead." Before Wen Ze could speak, he saw the butler start wiping away non-existent tears and saying increasingly outrageous things, so he had to stop him.
The butler stopped: "Not dead?"
Wen Ze felt a headache coming on: "With me here, do you think that's possible?"
The butler immediately shook his head, his gaze then falling on Wen Ze: "Then the lord's injuries..."
"It's not my blood either."
After giving a brief explanation, Wen Ze carried Yan Li into the room.
"Really? But my lord, I think you could also be included. Just think, if you were injured, wouldn't the lady be heartbroken to death when she woke up?"
The butler, like a tagalong, immediately followed Wen Ze after he said he was alright and offered a suggestion.
And just as he was hoping that Wen Ze would adopt his suggestion.
"She is awake."
Yan Li: Actually, it doesn't have to be that.
The butler was now embarrassed. He touched his nose and stopped in his tracks. "Then I'll go prepare some late-night snacks for the lady and the lord."
“You must be exhausted from going out.”
Before Wen Ze could speak, the butler quickly hid in the kitchen, eliminating any possibility that Wen Ze might say he wasn't hungry.
As the door closed, Yan Li grabbed Wen Ze's hand the moment he placed her on the bed and asked, "Judging from the housekeeper's words, you deliberately let me out today?"
Wen Ze: "I guess so."
Yan Li asked, puzzled, "Why?"
Wen Ze chuckled, pressing his fingertip against Yan Li's lips, "Naturally, it's for the sake of marital intimacy."
"Has Ah Yan forgotten what I told you last time?"
"I never joke around."
The next moment, before Yan Li could react, she felt a chill on her wrist. She instinctively tried to pull it back, but then she heard the crisp sound of a chain.
Yan Li subconsciously questioned, "You want to imprison me?"
After handcuffing Yan Li's other hand, Wen Ze casually admitted, "Yes."
He tore off the cloth tied in front of her eyes and casually tossed it aside: "Ayan, stay and keep me company."
When Yan Li opened her eyes again, she was slightly taken aback. After a while, she said, "Perhaps you can take a shower first, and then we can continue to discuss whether I should stay."
She did smell an extremely strong stench of blood, but it was nothing compared to the shock she felt when she opened her eyes.
The black robe was even darker in color, and it was stained with quite a bit of dirt, especially around the waist.
No wonder the housekeeper misunderstood.
Even she herself was starting to doubt whether she had been seriously injured when she saw it.
Wen Ze, without any decorum, bowed slightly and asked, "Is Madam inviting me?"
Yan Li subconsciously shook her head, then raised her bound hands in front of Wen Ze's eyes, pursed her lips, and said, "No, I didn't mean that. You should wash them yourself."
"I'll wait for you here."
Upon hearing this, Wen Ze glanced down at Yan Li's hand and suddenly felt a pang of regret.
"Hurry up, or it'll get marinated."
After being stared at by Wen Ze for a while, Yan Li couldn't withstand the pressure and spoke up. She was afraid that if she remained silent, she would really be dragged into a bath with him.
It took Wen Ze a while to recover from hearing Yan Li's words.
Marinate until flavorful?
Let's not do it.
Yan Li, sitting on the bed, breathed a sigh of relief as she watched Wen Ze walk into the bathroom.
She waited a little while, until she heard the sound of water, before pulling a hairpin out of her hair.
I was just about to take action.
"If you want me to lock your limbs to the bed, you can just say so."
Wen Ze spoke intermittently, as if he was very busy but had no choice but to speak.
Yan Li paused, then leaned back and lay flat on the bed, arms outstretched, looking up at the ceiling, and finally sighed.
That's incredible; she can tell what she's about to do even when she's in the bathroom.
After an unknown amount of time, when Wen Ze came out and stood by the bed again, Yan Li only felt a floral fragrance wafting to her nose.
It's very faint, not pungent at all, yet it brings a strange sense of peace.
Before she could even sit up, Wen Ze grabbed her hand, untied the chains from her wrists, and pushed her into the bathroom.
"Ah Yan, are you going to take a shower too?"
Although he was asking, he didn't give Yan Li a chance to refuse. "Although the window isn't sealed, there's a thicket of thorns downstairs. Yan, you should think this through."
Having said all that, if Yan Li still thinks about escaping, she's courting death.
"Don't worry, it won't happen."
She didn't deliberately drag out the time; after washing, she put on the clothes Wen Ze had prepared in advance.
"You're really injured?" As soon as Yan Li opened the bathroom door, she saw Wen Ze sitting on the edge of the bed applying medicine to her.
Wen Ze stopped applying the medicine, looked at the knife wound on his waist, and smiled, "Has A-Yan forgotten that I am human, and naturally I can get hurt too?"
"But it's absolutely impossible for those people to hurt me today."
Wen Ze wanted to bandage his wound quickly, but unexpectedly Yan Li also approached him at that moment.
Could it be that she feels sorry for him?
