Chapter 175 Standing Up for Her

The two were like oil and water, and Wang Jiache could smell the faint scent of gunpowder in the air.

He couldn't help but sigh: There are actually women who dare to talk back to Young Master Zheng.

At three o'clock in the morning, Assistant Gao brought He Ru to Zheng Lin.

As soon as He Ru got home, she called her godmother and asked her to protect her.

So, upon hearing the slightest commotion, He Rong came out of her bedroom and saw that the living room was full of people.

At this point in time, to have so many people gather around and question her, He Ru was already trembling with fear, not uttering a single word, but her eyes were filled with terror.

Zheng Lin didn't ask any questions, but kept glancing at He Ru from time to time.

The more silent it is, the more suffocating it becomes.

"They're not sleeping at all, even though it's so late at night."

He Rong scolded the five maids, "Why aren't you sleeping? What are you doing here? Is your work too easy?"

The maid didn't dare to speak. Zheng Lin turned to look at He Rong, "Mom, why are you awake too?"

"How can I sleep? With all this noise tonight, no living person could possibly get a good night's sleep," He Rong said sarcastically. "Only your dad hasn't reacted at all. Even if the sky were falling, he'd probably just be sleeping or playing on his phone."

After saying that, He Rong walked to He Ru's side, took her cold hand, and gently patted the back of her hand, "Look, why are you dressed so scantily."

He Rong was just like a loving mother, feeling very sorry for He Ru. She took off her own coat and put it on He Ru, saying, "Silly child, you didn't even know to wear an extra layer when you came out. Men don't know how to care for others, so you have to take care of yourself."

He Ru's hands were trembling, but He Rong held them tightly, giving her confidence.

He Rong, like He Ru's biological mother, spoke up for her and asked directly, "So what is it that is so important that you have to bring your fiancée to the Zheng family in the middle of the night?"

Her tone was full of criticism towards Zheng Lin.

The maid beside her was glanced at by He Rong and immediately went into the kitchen to bring out the remaining ginger tea.

This was just cooked for the second young mistress as instructed by Dr. Wang; it's still hot. Right now, we can only prioritize He Ru's needs. Compared to the second young mistress, the maids are more afraid of offending He Rong.

The maid placed ginger tea in front of He Ru, and He Rong personally picked it up and handed it to He Ru.

Zheng Lin wasn't afraid of He Rong's attack. He turned his back to everyone, took a puff of his cigarette, and then stubbed it out in the ashtray.

Assistant Gao could tell that his boss was in a bad mood. Ever since the boss's wife had snapped at him, he had stood there alone smoking five or six cigarettes. The boss never smoked when he was in a good mood.

Zheng Lin turned around and waved to Assistant Gao: "Bring out the manor's surveillance footage for my mother to see."

Assistant Gao was about to set up the surveillance footage when He Rong arrogantly sat down. "What's so interesting about that? I've heard about it. It's just that Su Jin accidentally fell into the pool. It's no big deal. The pool is shallow; no one can drown there."

“It’s definitely not drownable.” Zheng Lin revealed a mysterious smile, then his expression changed slightly. He pointed at He Ru, who was drinking ginger tea, and said to the bodyguard beside him, “Then throw my fiancée in and fish her out tomorrow morning.”

The bodyguards came over to take her away. He Ru shrank behind He Rong in fear. He Rong slammed her hand on the table: "Who dares to touch her!"

“No one will drown.” Zheng Lin pretended to frown: “Mom, why are you so angry? Or are you worried about what you just said?”

Everyone felt that Zheng Lin's words carried a strong sense of coercion, as if bringing He Ru here today meant he didn't intend for her to leave alive.

Ignoring Zheng Lin's words, He Rong shielded He Ru tightly behind her, shouting, "Anyway, no one is allowed to touch He Ru today. Anyone who dares to touch her, I'll fight them to the death!"

Zheng Lin ignored He Rong's protectiveness and continued to tell the bodyguard, "Tie them up first, then throw them in. Pull them out every five minutes, just make sure they don't drown."

He Rong grabbed He Ru's hand tightly, but the bodyguard forcibly separated them. The next moment, the bodyguard picked up He Ru and left.

He Rong wanted to chase after her, but was stopped by another person. She kept hearing He Ru's cries and was extremely anxious.

He shouted, "You want to kill her!"

"Get up and breathe some fresh air every five minutes, you shouldn't die. Besides, Su Jin stayed in the water for so long and she didn't drown."

Zheng Lin spoke casually, "I'll have them keep a stopwatch on, and I won't let my fiancée stay in the water for even a second longer."

Even through the door, Su Jin could hear some noises outside. Wang Jiache came out to check the situation outside, then returned to Su Jin's bedside and took her temperature.

"Thankfully, her temperature is normal." After checking the thermometer, Wang Jiache placed his fingers on Su Jin's pulse to take her pulse.

He suddenly frowned, glanced at Su Jin's face, and said, "Your stomach isn't very good. You must have had surgery. I'll prescribe some traditional Chinese medicine for you to take care of it when I have time."

Su Jin was surprised that Dr. Wang knew traditional Chinese medicine and could diagnose her medical history so quickly. She suddenly realized that she had underestimated him before.

Su Jin sat half-upright on the edge of the bed, her back supported by a pillow. "I value my privacy. Could you please not tell anyone about my stomach problems?"

“Okay.” Wang Jiache agreed quickly, tidying up the medicine on the table, and said, “I’ll go next door to take the temperature of that kid with the same surname as me, and see how he is over there. I’ve been like a nurse all night.”

He was the only medical student there, and he was constantly running back and forth between the two rooms, keeping himself extremely busy.

As soon as Wang Jiache left, Su Jin felt her way to the door and went out. She was curious because of the loud noise outside. As soon as she peeked out, she bumped into an arm.

Su Jin looked up and met the man's cold, deep eyes. "..."

Zheng Lin: "If you're not lying in bed, what do you want to see?"

Su Jin leaned against the wall, "It's too noisy."

“Now you can sleep peacefully. They’re all gone. You don’t need to go see them.” Zheng Lin lowered his right shoulder a little, patted his shoulder, and said, “You can hold onto me.”

Seeing that she didn't move, he raised an eyebrow and said, "Then I'll carry you."

Upon hearing this, Su Jin placed her hand on his shoulder, and he took her arm, walking back to the bedside.

Su Jin felt that this behavior was unnecessary; she was not so bad as to faint after taking a few steps, nor would she fall down while walking.

She is in very good health.

You can even go outside for a run.

Zheng Lin tucked Su Jin in and made conversation, saying, "That was my fiancée, just chatting with my mom. There wasn't much to see. If you want to know anything, just ask me."

Su Jin: "Three in the morning, connecting with each other. Quite special." You'd be crazy to believe that.

“We’re just getting to know each other, it’s nothing special,” Zheng Lin said. As he spoke, the maid knocked on the door and came in carrying a quilt, which she placed on the other side of the bed.
