Chapter 19 Holding Zheng Lin is like holding a puppy

Just now, she had already asked Zheng Lin about some of his family affairs and learned about the complicated relationships within his family.

Therefore, she was very certain that He Rong hated third parties.

As the saying goes, the enemy of my enemy is my friend.

Upon hearing this, He Rong recalled many past events the moment she opened her eyes. That year, Zheng Lin was sent back to the Zheng family, forcing her to acknowledge someone else's child as her son. She suffered from insomnia for several nights due to the injustice.

However, He Rong couldn't accept Su Jin even more. Su Jin's marriage to Zheng Lin meant she would escape the shadows of the past, but He Rong would have to keep watching other people's children.

She and her son will forever live in this gloom.

She felt a little empathy for Su Jin, but not much; she was mostly jealous, jealous that this young girl had found a good man.

“Even if you tell me all this, I still won’t let you marry my son.” He Rong bent down and picked a flower. Although she was already old, she didn’t show many signs of aging.

Her every move exudes a unique charm.

"No matter what happened before, you have to remain celibate for three years for your deceased husband. You can forget about getting the marriage certificate, but the wedding can't be held. Go and get a divorce right now!"

"Auntie is right." Zhao Qiyuan walked over smugly and stood next to He Rong. She was best at bullying others by taking advantage of her power, and she had to curry favor with He Rong in the Zheng family.

Zhao Qiyuan deliberately greeted Su Jinye, "Sister-in-law."

Su Jin sneered inwardly. It was the same old story; any sudden, unexpected kick was never a good thing.

He had repeatedly provoked her along with Zhao's mother, and he still wouldn't stop now. Did he really want to bully her for the rest of his life?

No way.

"So it really is you! I almost didn't recognize you if you hadn't called me. Is it really Zhao Qiyuan?" Su Jin preemptively asked, "I saw you as soon as I arrived today and you look a lot like her, but you also look a little different from before. Which plastic surgery clinic did you go to for your injections? Why aren't the results as good as last time?"

This is a veiled way of saying that she has become uglier.

Seeing He Rong beside her, Zhao Qiyuan was not as spoiled as she was with her mother, so she could only restrain herself a little and glare fiercely at Su Jin.

He Rong asked Zhao Qiyuan, "Is she your sister-in-law?"

“I used to, but I forgot to change my address,” Zhao Qiyuan said with a smile to He Rong, but when she turned to look at Su Jin, the smile disappeared.

Su Jin wasn't going to let Zhao Qiyuan off easy either. "I'm curious, the Zhao family and the Zheng family are distant relatives, so what are you now...?"

He Rong figured it out: "You're a child of the Zhao family. Although our two families aren't related by blood, it wouldn't look good if word got out. You can't be with Zheng Guang!"

Su Jin was secretly pleased. "Serves you right for revealing your relationship. Now you're happy, aren't you? All your scheming has been shattered."

Before anyone else could speak, He Rong immediately went to Zheng Guang and said, "You have to break up with her. She's from the Zhao family. If word gets out, we'll be laughed at. How could someone from such a family be allowed into the Zheng family? You two brothers have been bewitched!"

Zhao Qiyuan hurriedly followed, almost falling over, while Su Jin walked at the back with a leisurely, gossipy expression, secretly laughing.

Upon hearing this, Zhao Qiyuan stiffened and quickly went up to Zheng Guang, winking at him and grabbing He Rong's arm to try and comfort her: "Auntie, why care about what others think? Zheng Guang and I are truly in love."

He Rong turned her head to look at her, disdainfully shook her off, and separated Zheng Guang from her: "What bad luck. You two get out of here, I don't want to see you."

Su Jin stood behind them, wanting to applaud this dramatic reversal.

He tried to trick her, but ended up getting himself into trouble instead.

This is what they call "harming others ultimately harming oneself."

At this moment, Su Jin and Zheng Guang's eyes met for a second. Su Jin could see relief and a hint of panic in Zheng Guang's eyes.

Such complex emotions can only prove that Zhao Qiyuan used unusual means to climb up to Zheng Guang.

She knew Zhao Qiyuan all too well, so how could she possibly fall for Zheng Guang?

"Then let's all go back first." Zheng Youguo acted as peacemaker, nodding to Zheng Lin and Su Jin. He wanted his daughter-in-law Su Jin to return to the manor, but it wasn't a good idea to bring it up now, for fear of another argument.

When he saw Zhao Qiyuan again, his attitude was much colder. He only waved his hand at her, making an impatient gesture as if shooing away a fly.

Zhao Qiyuan stomped her foot angrily, feeling extremely resentful.

Why should Su Jin inherit all of her brother's estate, while her family can only live off a small company left to her by her brother before his death?

If Su Jin hadn't taken everything from her family, she would still be the young lady of the Zhao family, able to buy whatever she wanted, and wouldn't have gone to such lengths to stay by Zheng Guang's side!

She hasn't had enough of enjoying herself in just a few days, how can she be driven away by the Zheng family!

“But I’m already pregnant with Zheng Guang’s child.” Zhao Qiyuan touched her belly and walked to Zheng Guang’s side. “Your Zheng family must take responsibility for me. The child is innocent, isn’t he?”

He Rong's eyes widened: "Zheng Guang, is what she said true?"

"Your brother got scammed," Su Jin whispered in Zheng Lin's ear. "Should we help him?"

Zheng Lin put one hand in his pocket and said, "It has nothing to do with us."

He said to Su Jin with little interest, "This is not our business, let's go."

Seeing her honest brother being bullied, Su Jin felt a little sorry for him. A sense of justice was rising in her heart. Just as she was about to speak up and expose Zhao Qiyuan's behavior, a pair of large hands covered her mouth.

She was forcibly dragged away by Zheng Lin, and she opened her mouth and bit into the flesh of his palm.

"Mmm." Let me go.

Once they were outside the Zheng family's gate, Zheng Lin finally released Su Jin.

He took a deep breath.

Su Jin yelled at Zheng Lin, "Do you know that you just violated my personal freedom like that?"

Zheng Lin's eyes darkened: "Just leave when I tell you to. Stop with the nonsense."

"You're the one who said you were coming, and you're the one who's leaving. Even your madness has to be predictable, right?" Su Jin thought Zheng Lin was no longer as lovable as he was ten years ago.

After thinking about it, she realized she could only shift the blame elsewhere.

“You haven’t visited Bai Qingchi yet. It’s so lonely in the hospital. If I were you, I would drive to the hospital to see her right now.”

She had barely finished speaking when she was suddenly pulled by a force and slammed into a solid chest.

Zheng Lin hugged her.

Su Jin was about to struggle when she heard his voice sound slightly tired as he whispered in her ear, "I don't want to go anywhere right now. Don't move, or I'll kiss you."

Su Jin: "...Let go."

Zheng Lin whispered in her ear, "Someone's watching from behind. Cooperate with me, or it'll arouse suspicion."

Su Jin: "......" Okay, I'll hug you then. It's not like I'll lose a piece of my flesh. I'll just treat it like I'm hugging a puppy.

She added, "Just one minute. If it's over, I'll crush your feet!"

The man let out a soft "Mmm" through his nose.

The two hugged for a while, and Su Jin could even feel his heartbeat in his chest; time seemed to fly by incredibly slowly.

After a long while, Zheng Lin suddenly spoke.

“I rarely come back here. I was brought back from the orphanage when I was seven. Everything in this house has nothing to do with me. I finally broke free from my family's control during college.”
