Chapter 165: Pretending to be a Good Person

The city was covered with dark clouds like the bottom of a pot, and Qingshui Village was quiet.

The old locust tree swayed in the wind, and the leaves rustled, as if laughing at someone's idiot.

Tsk, look at those guys, Ergouzi, Sanlaizi and Shouhouer, their eyes are red from staying up late, and they sneak into the backyard of the village chief's house.

He had a few tattered bills in his pocket that he had exchanged with a drunk, and his mind was full of thoughts about making a comeback at the casino.

Hey, what did that drunk guy say?

"Get the invoice and sell it. It'll be worth at least a thousand eight hundred!"

The skinny monkey hunched his neck, holding the crowbar in his hand, and hummed like a mosquito: "Second brother, is it reliable?"

"fart!"

Er Gouzi bared his yellow teeth and glared at him, "Brother, I've lost all my pants, what else can I do? Besides, that kid Chen is always thinking about making money from medicinal herbs, so what if we get ahead of him!"

He spoke toughly, but his feet were shaking like broken stones.

"hey-hey,"

The third beggar licked his lips and said, "That old fellow smiles all day and pretends to be a good guy, but he keeps our money behind our backs! Let's steal some of his goods to teach him a lesson!"

After saying that, he quickly climbed over the wall and entered the yard.

The backyard was pitch black, and a broken oil lamp was hanging on the door frame, swaying.

Er Gouzi pried open the warehouse door, which made a creaking sound like a warning.

Oh, who cares about this when I’m burdened by gambling debts?

The skinny monkey ran straight to the small wooden box in the corner, and the drunk man said that the manifest was hidden there.

“Yes!”

The skinny monkey shouted in a low voice.

Under the moonlight, he pulled out a stack of papers, which contained a list of medicinal herbs.

Er Gouzi snatched it and stuffed it into his arms, grinning: "We're rich!"

Little did they know that someone was already following them outside.

The camera of the person arranged by Chen Changyuan flashed.

Er Gouzi was so frightened that he almost dropped the list of goods on the ground. "Who?!"

“Run!”

The three beggars dragged their two men out.

Before I could climb over the wall, I heard footsteps behind me and a dark shadow blocked my way.

The skinny monkey's legs went weak, and he collapsed on the ground, muttering, "It's over, it's over..."

At dawn, Zhang Mazi rode his broken bicycle into the city humming a tune.

Holding the photo and letter, he walked into Zhang Qinghai's office with a smile and slammed his hand on the table: "Director Zhang, look at this! Village Chief Wang's subordinates are really capable!"

Zhang Qinghai frowned and opened the envelope. When he saw Ergouzi's panicked face in the photo and the list of goods in his hand, his face suddenly darkened.

He slammed the table and stood up, his voice filled with anger: "How dare that old bastard Wang Fugui do such despicable things under my nose?!"

"you do not say,"

Zhang Mazi chuckled and added, "I heard he's secretly withholding medicinal materials and reselling contracts, making a killing. If you continue this partnership, you'll probably suffer a huge loss."

Zhang Qinghai was so angry that he immediately wrote a letter, terminated the cooperation with Wang Fugui, and reported the matter to the top management of the county pharmaceutical company.

Not long after the letter was sent out, Wang Fugui was in an uproar.

As soon as he got home, he discovered the manifest was missing. Furious, he grabbed Er Gouzi and the others and started yelling at them: "You bunch of losers! Did I keep you here just to eat? You stole the manifest? And you stole it from me?!"

Er Gouzi knelt on the ground with a bruised face and nose, but he still managed to hold on: "Village Chief, we have no choice. Gambling debts..."

"Bet your mother's head!"

Wang Fugui kicked Ergouzi, and he fell to the ground.

He gasped, pointed at the lackeys and yelled, "Get out! Don't let me see you useless guys again!"

But he didn't know that the lesson was not over yet.

The rumor had spread outside that his men were heavily in debt from gambling and had stolen public property from the village. The villagers gathered under the locust tree and began to discuss the matter.

"This Wang Fugui usually smiles like Maitreya Buddha, but who would have thought he was such a black-hearted person, and everyone he led was like this!"

"I heard the pharmaceutical company's business went bankrupt too. They deserved it!"

Wang Fugui stood at the door of his house, listening to these rumors. The smile on his face disappeared and he looked so gloomy that water could drip out of it.

He clenched his fists and cursed in his heart: "Chen Changyuan, you little bastard, I'm not done with you!"

At the same time, Chen Changyuan was sitting in the medicinal materials base on the mountain behind the village, holding the teacup and taking a sip slowly.

Mr. Wei stood nearby and whispered, "The news has gotten out. Wang Fugui has really taken a big tumble this time. The villagers say he's hiring the wrong people and is a bad influence."

"snort,"

Chen Changyuan sneered and put down his teacup. "This old fox still thinks he can turn the tables? His little cleverness is nothing in my eyes."

He narrowed his eyes and stared through the window at the direction of Wang Fugui's house in the distance. "This is just the beginning, Boss Wei. You have to help me keep a close eye on the next move."

Mr. Wei nodded and was about to speak when he suddenly heard hurried footsteps outside.

The footsteps were chaotic and hurried, like a pack of mad wild dogs rushing straight to the medicinal materials base.

Old Yuantou stumbled into the house, his face covered in sweat and dirt, and panic in his eyes.

He gasped, his voice shaking like a sieve. "Changyuan, this is bad! That bastard Wang Fugui knows you're plotting against him, and he's rushing over here with a few lackeys!"

Chen Changyuan raised his eyebrows, gently placed the teacup in his hand on the table, but the corners of his mouth rose slightly, revealing a sneer.

He stood up slowly, patted the old man on the shoulder, and whispered, "Why are you so anxious? You came at the perfect time."

He turned to look at Mr. Wei, his eyes showing a hint of meaning, "Boss Wei, please stay here first. Let's watch this wonderful show together."

Old Yuan was stunned for a moment and wanted to say something to persuade him, but when he saw Chen Changyuan's confident look, he swallowed his words back and had to shrink aside and wipe his sweat.

Mr. Wei was calm, with his arms folded across his chest and a faint smile on his lips. It was obvious that he knew what was going to happen next.

Not long after, there was a burst of shouting and cursing from outside the yard, mixed with the muffled sound of footsteps on the muddy ground.

Wang Fugui kicked open the door of the medicinal materials base and rushed in with a few burly lackeys.

His usually smiling face was now twisted like a demon, veins popping out of his forehead. He pointed at Chen Changyuan and cursed, "Chen Changyuan, you bastard! How dare you try to trick me? Today I'm going to show you who's the boss in Qingshui Village!"

Chen Changyuan walked forward calmly, his hands in his pockets, and squinted at Wang Fugui, his tone full of sarcasm: "Hey, Village Chief Wang, what's wrong with you? You brought people to my place early in the morning to mess things up. Look at your face, didn't you sleep well last night? Or is it that you're missing something and you're feeling uneasy?"

"Stop your fucking pretense!"

Wang Fugui was so angry that his eyes almost popped out of his head and spit all over the floor. "Did you steal the invoice for Ergou and his bastards? And the pharmaceutical company contract? I worked so hard to get the deal, and you ruined it! You little bastard, I'm going to kill you today!"
