Chen Changyuan knew he couldn't hide it, so he had to tell the truth:
"Mom, I just want you to live a good life! That tiger is worth a lot of money. If we sell it, we can..."
"Money, money, money! What's the point of asking for money if I'm already dead!"
Fang Suxia was anxious and angry, tears welling up in her eyes. "You are my only child. If anything happens to you, I will die!"
Chen Changyuan felt warm in his heart, he knew that his mother really loved him.
"Mom, I'm fine! Don't worry, I know what I'm doing and I won't joke with my life."
He paused, then added, "Besides, I'm not going alone. I'm with a few young men from the village. We can look after each other."
After hearing this, Fang Suxia felt a little relieved.
She sighed, and then seemed to remember something, frowning and saying solemnly:
"Changyuan, I recently saw Zhou Dazhu and Lai Zi heading into the mountains. Did you run into them? If you do, don't get into any conflict with them!"
Zhou Dazhu also went up the mountain? Chen Changyuan took note of this matter calmly, but just smiled and said to his mother:
"Mom, I'll go clean up the tiger meat and make soup for you tonight."
Fang Suxia looked at her son's busy back with relief, but her heart was still in turmoil, as she always felt that something was going to happen.
Chen Changyuan deftly cut the tiger meat into pieces, smashed the tiger bones, added some medicinal herbs, and simmered it over low heat.
The fragrance gradually spread, making Fang Suxia's stomach growl.
"This tiger meat is so delicious!" Fang Suxia couldn't help but exclaim.
"Of course, this is a tiger from Qingshanling. The meat is delicious and very nutritious!" Chen Changyuan said proudly.
During dinner, the two drank steaming hot tiger bone soup, and Fang Suxia showed a long-lost smile on her face.
"Changyuan, my biggest wish in this life is to see you get married, start a family, and marry a virtuous wife."
Fang Suxia kept talking, and Chen Changyuan responded while thinking about An Caicai's bright and charming face.
It was late at night, and Chen Changyuan was lying on the kang, but he couldn't fall asleep.
My body was hot and my mind was full of An Caicai's figure.
Sometimes she wore a pink dress, smiling sweetly; sometimes she changed into a bright red gauze dress, looking passionate.
In a daze, he seemed to be in a sea of flowers, and An Caicai was standing among the flowers, waving at him.
Her clothes were as thin as a cicada's wing, revealing her snow-white skin faintly, and her beautiful eyes were full of affection.
Chen Changyuan walked over involuntarily and hugged her in his arms.
An Caicai pouted and fell into his arms.
"Changyuan..." She called his name softly, her voice as sweet as honey.
Chen Changyuan couldn't bear it anymore and lowered his head to kiss her red lips.
What happened next was like a beautiful dream.
An Caicai was enjoying herself under him, panting softly.
He released his long-suppressed desires to the fullest and felt unprecedented pleasure.
The next morning, when Chen Changyuan woke up, he found a trace of blood coming out of his nose.
He shook his head helplessly, secretly sighing that his young body was full of energy.
Chen Changyuan washed the dirt out of the bedding, wrung it dry and hung it on the wooden rack in the yard.
The rising sun shone on the wet fabric, reflecting fragmented light.
He took a deep breath. The cool air in the early morning made his confused mind clearer.
"Mom, I'm going to Lao Yuantou's house and won't be back for dinner tonight." Chen Changyuan shouted into the house.
"Oh, got it! Be careful on the road and don't get into conflicts with others!"
Fang Suxia's voice came from inside the house, with a hint of worry.
"Don't worry, Mom!" Chen Changyuan responded and strode out of the yard.
When he arrived at Lao Yuantou's house, Chen Changyuan pushed the door open suddenly, and a cloud of thick smoke rushed in his face, choking him and making him cough.
"Ahem... Old Yuan, what are you doing..."
Chen Changyuan squinted his eyes and looked around. The house was filled with smoke, as if something had just burned.
"Changyuan, you came just in time!"
Old Yuantou walked out from the thick smoke, holding a blackened wooden box in his hand. "Come in quickly, I have something to tell you."
Chen Changyuan followed Lao Yuantou into the inner room. The smoke dissipated a little, and he could see the scene inside the room clearly.
There were some burnt herbs scattered on the ground, and a strange smell filled the air.
"Are you... refining medicine?" Chen Changyuan asked with some confusion, looking at the residue on the ground.
"Old Yuan, are you... refining an elixir?"
A pungent smell filled the air, making him feel a little uncomfortable.
The old man smiled, revealing his yellow teeth, and said mysteriously:
"Alchemy? I don't have that ability! Boy, guess what I'm doing?"
Chen Changyuan looked around. There was nothing special in the house except for the burnt marks and some unknown residues.
He shrugged. "Looking at the situation, I thought your house was on fire! Why are you mobilizing so many people? What are you doing?"
The old man winked proudly, "You don't know this! I'm smoking leather!"
"Leather?" Chen Changyuan was stunned for a moment, then realized, "You got this... from hunting?"
"Hey, boy, you have good eyesight!"
As the old man spoke, he lifted a curtain in the inner room, revealing a pile of various leathers.
When Chen Changyuan got closer and took a look, he was immediately dazzled.
Some were made of black donkey skin, which was shiny and smooth, and gave off a faint fishy smell; some were made of wolf skin, which was grayish-white and felt soft and smooth; and some were made of wild boar skin, which was rough and hard, and still had some blood stains on it.
